Constraction reviews in Austin, Texas

Melde and my firm teamed up to complete an extensive remodel and addition in Tarrytown. Melde did an incredible job managing the timeline and budget and made sure our clients' vision and dream home was realized. We will for sure work with them again in the near future.

Matt Fajkus Architecture - It's always a pleasure to partner with Melde Construction! They take their job seriously but also keep things light and enjoyable. They are incredible partners during the design phase when it comes to understanding and refining design vision + construction costs and then carry that same dedication into the field when implementing architecturally driven work. The construction process is organized, collaborative, thoughtful and diligent. We always look forward to our next opportunity to collaborate with Melde Construction!

Bernie and Melde Construction were really fantastic to work with. They have a terrific niche, great attention to detail, and are super fun to work with. Melde is a talented up and coming company in Austin. I'd love to work with them again in the future!

As the architect for this unique and highly detailed addition, I had the opportunity to observe MELDE’s work closely throughout the project. The design posed several challenges, including its intricate architectural elements, the need for the young homeowners to live on-site during construction, and the added complexity of them expecting their first child during the process. MELDE rose to the occasion and delivered exceptional results.

Their team handled every aspect of construction with the utmost professionalism, competence, and integrity. What stood out most was their ability to balance construction progress with the homeowners' comfort and expectations—a feat that cannot be overstated. MELDE’s excellent communication and thoughtful accommodations ensured that the family could remain in their home with minimal disruption, all while keeping the project on track.

From an architectural perspective, MELDE’s attention to detail was outstanding. They translated the design vision into a beautifully executed space that now functions as a den, laundry room, and photography studio. Every material, joint, and finish was carefully considered and crafted to align with the high standards set by the design.

If you're looking for a builder who not only delivers impeccable craftsmanship but also fosters a positive and collaborative construction experience, I cannot recommend MELDE enough. Their ability to tackle complex projects while maintaining sensitivity to the unique needs of the clients is truly exceptional.

My husband and I began a large “remodel” project on an existing home in 2018. The project vision included turning a 1980’s traditional style house into a modern, clean lined, sleek home of our dreams. The project was a difficult one, the lot was sloped, the spaces for construction were constrained, we had very active and involved neighbors, and we backed to a golf course that was very busy 6 days a week.

The builder we chose was Melde Construction. When we met with the owner Bernie Calcote to discuss the project we had a palpable feeling that he not only “got” us, but he “got” the project and had an excitement for what it could be. It turned out we were correct in our assessment, Bernie and the Melde team were there for us every step of the way.

Our project included a team of architects, a designer, and Melde that worked together without ego to overcome each obstacle faced to deliver an amazing project. When we visited our construction project we would see the Melde sign on the gate that humbly stated, “Love your home, enjoy the journey”. Building a home in Austin Texas is not an easy journey to enjoy. It is a difficult process, but we couldn’t have found a better partner to take that journey with than Melde.

Melde set up an excellent schedule for communication and input. We received the updates we needed and were brought up to speed in real time. Our onsite project manager was Kellen Hood and he was such a great advocate for us as the home owner. He managed our project trades with great efficiency, he managed our neighbors with great care ensuring they were happy throughout the process, and he managed us as clients with humility. We never doubted that Melde had our very best interests at heart.

We completed our home in the Spring of 2020 and it turned out amazing. The home was featured on the 2021 AIA homes tour which was a fitting celebration for all the hard work that our team put into the project. We have been here almost 5 years and had no issues with our home. We don’t plan on moving anytime soon, but when we do, Melde will be our builder again.

MELDE is a top tier builder in the area. As a trade partner, we collaborate with dozens of builders/developers/contractors around town, and this team is the best balance of value, quality, integrity and amazing people. Would recommend working with MELDE 10/10 times.

Working with Melde Construction was such a seamless process from creative conception to completion. Their professionalism and talented tradesman made it such a wonderful experience to collaborate. With every challenge or creative decision that needed to be made Melde looked at things from every angle which made us rest easy knowing that our creative vision and final product would be curated with no detail overlooked.

R&D Architecture - Working with MELDE Construction is always a great experience! Bernie the Owner and his team bring professionalism and a sense of ease to every project. From the initial design phase, they are engaged in refining the vision and helping balance design goals with budget considerations and constructability. Once construction begins, their jobsites are clean and organized, while they maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. They are communicative, and collaborative every step of the way. We look forward to working with MELDE Construction on future projects!

Our architecture studio has recently successfully competed a custom residence with the Melde team. The owner, Bernie, has created a wonderfully culture of high standards, attention to detail, and humility across his entire team. Everyone on their team is experienced and cared deeply for the project outcome.

The project manager, Kellen, had tip top communication throughout the workflow. Strong communication between builder and architect can make or break a project and we were very happy with the Melde team. Flexibility is also very important and the Melde team listened to us and provided options and knowledge along the way - excellent teamwork!

The Melde team was great. We look forward to another successful collaboration very soon!
