Ted's trees was very professional and helpful. Best of all, they honored their one year guarantee on the large tree we bought. It died within five days of planting and they replaced it for free. Thanks!

My daughter and I went to Ted's twice. The first time, they didn't have the trees Ted had told me they had, and no one was there to answer all of our questions. My daughter called Ted and made an appointment with him for the next morning at 10:00. She rescheduled business appointments, was there at 10:00, but Ted had gone to Lakeway instead. I called to tell him how disappointed I was especially since I was the one who had recommended him. He said he would discount the price of the trees. No, Ted, that's not the point. It was totally disrespectful, my daughter is self-employed, and her time was valuable, too. He told me to go jump in the lake. Thankfully, there are plenty of other landscapers and tree yards to not have to put up with his undependability and bad attitude.

Had a Bradford pear tree removed and wanted a replacement. My research indicated that a Monterrey Oak was perfect for central Texas. Called around and went down to Ted's Trees in east Austin to see what they had. Talked to Chevo, the 85 year old man that started the buisiness many years ago. He showed me a 100 gal Monterrey oak that looked staright and healthy but I procrastinated and it was gone when I went back to buy it. So I picked out another tree and paid for it but when I came out I noticed some things about the tree that I didn't like. Ted told me they were getting more trees in the next couple of days but they never seemed to come so I ended up picking a 45 gal tree that was straight and looked good and they refunded the difference. Today Ted's crew planted the tree and I am very happy with it

I highly recommend against working with Ted's Trees. They have enjoyed a nice run in Austin, and built a decent reputation over the years as one of the few players with significant and diverse inventory. It appears clear now that the city is outgrowing them. Firstly, their inventory is not in as good of shape as it has been in the past. Secondly, the service is horrifically bad. I made an appointment while on site, and they "no-showed". I called the shop, and they said they would call back. 15 minutes go by with no call. I call back, and they tell me they can come by later in the day. No contrition, no apology for the no-show. I expressed my frustration, and they said "you want me to send you roses?" (sarcastically). I can't imagine giving business to such an entitled organization.

Wonderful experience. Lots of companies plant trees, but not a lot let you walk the business site and tag your tree. And what a selection of beautiful, healthy trees! I didn't want a twig, my wife and I went and picked out an oak tree with a trunk 6" in diameter. Tree is probably 14' tall and half as wide. The size is similar to other trees in the yard and thus it blends well.
Tree was planted a week after purchase, and for such a big tree I was surprised by how hard I had to look to find signs of the tractors they used to do it. Planted perfectly upright, firmly staked, and generously mulched.
    Thanks for the great tree.

I've done several projects with Ted over 10+ years, involving large trees, sprinkler work, and landscape lighting. His lighting, sprinkler, and masonry people have been with him for years and in my experience the quality of the work is very good. We have had a couple of plantings die but Ted has replaced them. I would definitely recommend Ted, especially for more complex projects where things have to come together.

I'm quite confused by the volume of negative reviews. While I did not hire this company to plant any trees, I've purchased both trees and shrubs from them over the course of a few years. The family running this business is always warm and helpful. The prices are very good and the quality of plants has been excellent in my experience.

I bought a tree with a one year warranty and followed the instructions for watering. At one point around the six month mark it started to lose leaves so I called in. An unconcerned employee told me it was fine. She was correct, the tree actually thrived for a while.

Fast forward to just before the one-year mark, an alarming number of the leaves start turning brown in the middle of summer, so I called again. The employee asked the kind of tree and told me the tree was fine.

The tree was not fine. All the leaves eventually turned brown, and there was a fungus growing on the trunk. Because my phone calls had seemed unhelpful and the employees unconcerned, I took pictures and went in to the store.

Mary told me the tree was dead, and said I should have called long ago, before the year warranty was up. She looked in her call log and there was no record of me calling. They offered free installation if I wanted to buy a new tree.

To be clear: I wasn’t asked for my name or any other info when i called. I also didn’t know there was call log, otherwise I could have made sure my call was recorded.

The tree was very nice while it lasted. I wish the service at the store was as good.

I had worked with Teds Trees several years ago. They cut through a phone cable in the ground, but otherwise, did fine. This time, they cut through a water line even though they told be they would have all the utilities marked in advance, which they did not do. More to the point, they gave me 2, 60 gallon crepe myrtles instead of the 100 gallon trees based on their advice for the size. No problem there, but after two months of trying to get in touch with Mary in AP/AR, I spoke with the company namesake, Ted. I explained that I had been trying to contact her for some time and was at the point of calling the CC company to file a dispute. He told me Mary has plenty of money and to go for it. He then hung up on me and refused to answer the phone afterwards. I had expressed displeasure, but was in no way rude, insulting, or profane. I will not be using this business ever again and I recommend you look elsewhere if you are in the market for foliage.

Very pleased with our Magnolia tree selection purchased 2 weeks ago. Its progress is impressive with it blooming beautifully.

I would like to thank Ted and his staff for the trees provided when I purchased my new home. These trees have made it through the freeze and are more beautiful than ever. They did a very professional job and I’m pleased with the outcome.

Several years ago I bought a significant number of large trees in 55 gallon containers which were planted throughout my backyard and irrigation was accommodated in order to irrigate the new trees. 4 years later I now have about six of the original 12 Trees still living. Freezing weather in 2020 and 2022 killed the tender trees that were represented as Hardy. Had I simply bought the trees that I knew would be freeze Hardy I would have all 12. The owner Ted chose some inappropriate trees but would not negotiate any kind of compromise. I would advise anyone looking at Ted's trees to be sure that his recommendations meet the criteria are appropriate for the criteria, ie., all trees should be Hardy down to 10 degrees F for 48 hours.

We were looking for a tree to plant in memory of my mother. Ted and Mary Esther were very helpful and patient with us. We decided on a live oak and purchased it. The tree was delivered, planted and watered. We were very satisfied with the service we received. Thank you again guys!

Ted was referred to me by a friend. Otherwise, he would have never made it on my radar. Needed 3 dead trees removed and replaced. I went to the folks that flood your. Mailbox with fliers. The were pretty expensive. Ted gave me a quote and it was a fraction of the cost for the exact same trees. I pulled the trigger and I’m very happy I did. He delivered exactly what he promised when he promised it..

I was in need of some new trees as they were damaged by the freeze a few years ago and never came recovered. Being a new home owner and not knowing which trees would do well in Texas, I was happy that Ted showed me several options to choose from. They were also having a sale and I got a discount. They were very nice, and eager to help me. I would recommend them to anyone needing tree service, plants, etc.

The owner was the least professional person I've worked with -- and somehow the product and irrigation system was even worse. I owned a new construction home that was under warranty for the first year, irrigation never worked from day one, Ted ghosted me until 2 years into ownership -- multiple phone calls, voicemails, texts, etc. After finally getting into contact with him, he proceeded to be rude, unprofessional and never showed up to even just take a look. I've worked in construction, family owned a construction company, etc. it was the worst sub relationship I've interacted with

We'd like to thank everyone at Ted's Trees for their professionalism and exceptional landscaping services. Your guys performed an excellent job. They worked hard, were eager, and were pleasant to be around. We were ecstatic to have everyone at Ted’s Trees on board for our pathway and drainage renovation project, and they did not disappoint! Period!
What a difference they made to our property. The landscaping team's workmanship and artisanship in the reconstruction of our side pathway is exceptional. In addition, we loved their straightforwardness and easy-to-navigate business transactions! So, once again, thank you, Teds' Trees, for the beautiful pathway and pleasant business transactions. Please don't pass them by on your next landscaping project. JS!!

Highly recommend for all your outdoor needs. Consultation was super easy to set up and get scheduled in a timely manner. The owner Ted was there helping making sure I selected the best trees for my needs. Very professional. Not only do they have an amazing selection of trees, they do other projects too. Can’t wait to make my home into an oasis with the help of Ted’s Trees. Love supporting a small business.

We worked with Ted's Trees to have multiple trees planted, transplanted, and removed from our yard, and we could not be happier with the end result. From the outset, Ted worked with us to identify the right trees for our yard, and when it came time to perform the work, Ted and his crew were on time, responsive, and did great work. If you're in the Austin area and are looking for a company that will do right by you, I recommend Ted's Trees.

We had 5, 9-ft Cyprus trees planted yesterday, and our experience was excellent from beginning to end. Our job encountered a hiccup and they quickly deviated and got the job done all in one day. Couldn’t be more thankful of the work done so far.
