Nice Place for plants. Lots to see, can't wait to come in the fall. Friendly and knowledgeable Staff.

No customer service. No one asked if they help me find the right plants. No one spoke to me. At check out, staff were too busy playing with a dog. No one asked if the could help take my plants to the car. I was parked in handicap because I have difficulty walking.Bad customer service.

Such a cool place! Visited for the first time today and they had gotten new shipments.

Thankful to have this welcoming, helpful and abundant neighborhood garden center conveniently located close to home. Excellent selection of plants from shade to sun and everything in between (with a huge native selection !), plus expansive pottery collection, tools, dirt/mulch, rock, decor, etc.

Super nice place, it really feels like they care about their plants. They drill drainage holes in pots for free if they don't already have a hole. Huge selection of succulents, cacti, desert rose and some bonsai. I just went in to browse and ended up bringing new babies home. Oops!

My favorite place in the world. I go here every weekend and anytime I need to feel better. Packed with every variety of plant, and the staff are all super knowledgeable and helpful. Best nursery in Austin!

The girl in the front was really kind and helpful. She even offered to have a hole drilled in my pot. I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews!

Epic garden store with beautiful plants. A must see in Austin, well laid out, super friendly staff. Huge selection of local plants and cactus.

The Great Outdoors was my go to spot. Great selection of plants, herbs, pots, and soil. I have been going there for several years. I bought all my gardening stuff from them and loved the loyalty program. Last time I was here I was treated as a bother, inconvenience, and dismissed by the staff & management. I love supporting local businesses but I am not okay with how poorly I was treated. The customer service here used to be great but that’s not the case anymore.
-
Not only is this the best nursery in Austin, The Great Outdoors might have the best customer service in all of Austin. The Great Outdoors is unquestionably a must stop place for all your outdoor needs!

I had such high hopes for this place! 😭💔
Their lush, incredible greenhouse is stocked with gorgeous plant varieties—exactly what I was looking for.
So, like any good plant lover, I asked for help getting some clippings. Sadly… they don’t do clippings. Not even if you offer to pay!
Here’s the thing: I kill any plant in dirt, but plants in water? They thrive with me. I know my strengths. Unfortunately, no one here was able to help me find something that would work for my skill level.
Guess I’m headed to Plant Society, where they get people like me and even have a propagation wall with clippings for sale—better than no sale, right? -
The best place for indoor plants in Austin!!!! I love it. Great price and great variety.
-
Awesome beautiful place. Everyone i spoken to for help was friendly and actually cared about my questions. Bought onions, brocoli, arugula and some other native plants as well as some seeds

The Great outdoors should
not to be dismissed just because it happens to be ridiculously close to your beautiful new habitat in Austin. You simply can't get better Austin friendly plants anywhere else in central Tx. If you have a problem, its you, not the great outdoors. I can only imagine they will graciously cater to your needs! They have a better selection than your average " mouth breathing" consumer needs 😀. Best of luck! Go buy a lovely plant! If it dies try again! -
You want it? They've got it. The Great Outdoors is a icon of Austin. The helpful staff and carefully curated, extensive inventory make this the perfect stop for landscapers and plant hobbyists alike. Their selection includes, flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, succulents & cactuses, native grasses & shrubs, as well as a variety of houseplants and much more. Prices are reasonable, making this a preferable choice in all respects to the large chain stores. Parking can be a tad difficult as the lot is small, so plan to come either during off-peak hours or risk a bit of a line. Bike racks are also available. Be sure to check out the small "fairy" plants located in the greenhouse.

Love this place. Topiary utopia! I got the sense that the owners of this place have a real passion for all things flora, simply by observing how everything was layed out. It's beautiful!...and an organic approach to display is a welcome reprive from the common nurseries. Really cool to see a unique place like this exists and friendly people. A bit a everything for gardening and plant life too.

A wide selection, from herbs to houseplants, all looked over by a lovely cat named Queenie.
I've been going here for years and it's a great place to find a wide variety of plants in various growth stages, from seedlings that are perfect for terrariums to adult plants that look great in stand alone pots. I like that they have signs with information such as water/sun needs and if the plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
There's an extensive selection of gardening tools, accessories and services available on location. There are large carts as well as hand baskets available for you tote your plants around. I'd recommend wearing bug repellent as well, this is the great outdoors after all ;)
Mask wearing is strictly enforced along with social distancing. Keep in mind that the earlier you go on the weekends (before noon) the more likely you will be able to enter the parking lot straight away. Otherwise, expect to join the queue of cars waiting in the median for a spot to open up. Howeber, the wait isn't long and there is a heroic employee standing in the sun and coordinating traffic.
As a personal aside, please keep an eye on any children you bring along and do not allow them to play within the plants and bruise the leaves or otherwise damage the goods. Otherwise, there's a lovely koi pond for everyone to enjoy so it can be a good experience for any age! -
I love this place!! Huge indoor and outdoor selection including succulents, common house plants, and even cacti. The staff overall were friendly and eager to help so don't worry if you're new to this. The prices are a tad on the higher end of affordable but it's not bad and worth it for the experience here. Parking was easy; just know that they have an entrance and an exit so read the signs. I would recommend this place to my friends!

Great plant store with a lot of variety and very friendly staff! I was visiting Austin and picked up a few small succulents/cacti to bring back home with me. The plants here are a bit pricey but they are all in great condition and were clearly well-cared for. I enjoyed my visit here and was happy that my purchases made it safely home on the plane. They look great in my apartment and are a perfect souvenir from Austin. 🌵✨
