My wife and I just went to look around based on previous reviews. We have a 100 sq ft garden and two dogs and a cat so wanted to see the offerings of MGC. We were impressed with the quality of the products but what impressed me the most was the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Joyce in particular took extra time to talk to us about the plants they have and what might be best for our yard. I was very happy with the service we received!

We shopped at Marshall's for years when they were on Hwy 121. Sadly I don't think we'll be shopping at the new location. Why did they go from a huge store and ample parking to a small store and very little parking? The parking situation is ridiculous there.
We wish y'all well but won't be back.

Just discovered this place after seeing it off the highway all the time. So glad I finally stopped to check it out because this place has amazing customer service, a good selection of organic gardening products, a decent selection of plants (even better prices compared to other nurseries I've been to), and all types of animal feed. They have bags of the products open so you can see what's in the bag before you buy. Im always nervous about buying new products of compost, mulch, potting soils, etc. because you can't see the actual product. But they have 1 bag of each item opened so you can see exactly what is in each of the respective bags. WHICH IS AWESOME! Everything is priced so well too. The only downside is that this place is petty small so their selection of plants and gardening supplies is very limited. Hopefully, they do well in business and they can expand because I would love to see them grow and develop. If you get a chance, check them out and help support this organization.

Great for you gardeners...the cats are great too!

Meant to do this last year, but they came and assessed my what was damaging my peach tree (for free), gave me specific recommendations, sold me the right treatments and essentially saved my peach tree. Very appreciative and also their green tea elixir is amazing!

I love this place! They love dogs and have a great selection of food, treats, and accessories. Their veggies, transplants/seedlings, are the best and sold at a good price. Google shows I have only been there once. Not quite right. They offer gardening classes and have live-streamed during the pandemic. I am thrilled to find items for organic gardening at good prices. Take a look at this photo from a December fundraiser for a dog. No fee but donations accepted. Good people run this place!

We love this place. We get our vegetable plants here every year. The staff are always friendly and informative. The plants are in good condition. The prices are usually reasonable. Today, they are frustrated, as we. They ordered plenty of vegetable plants, but none have come in. No one knows what the hold up is, but they expect the plants will arrive any day now. We will be back as soon as the plants arrive. Best place in town to get them.

Love this shop! They have a great selection of plants (some I haven't seen anywhere else before) on top of having products/brands that Lowe's or home depot do not carry. They have Shop Cats (bios for the the cats are listed on their website and are super cute! Definitely worth the read) that roam the store and garden center, as well as pet sections (dog, cat and horse). I think my favorite part, though, is that they sell ladybugs and beneficial nematodes! Everything was very reasonably priced. Definitely got a homey/welcoming vibe from the place. I will definitely be back!

I wish I could give 5 stars I feel like I’m over doing it with 3. It makes me sad that this place has blooms that all look like they are dying. I was hoping it would be nice flowers but all dying. Good luck Marshalls I really hope you make it.

This place is always so nice to visit, the staff is so friendly. Right now they have a lot of really good perennials and native plants! Always a treat to see the cats running around, they’re so cute.

We have been a customer for decades. People, product and service have always been great however my most recent experience was not expected. Recently purchased bulk load of compost for delivery to my home. Compost was being used on my lawn prior to seeding fescue. In the process of spreading the compost I discovered that there was a significant amount of rock/gravel (up to 1 inch in size) mixed in with the compost. I manually picked out as many as I encountered creating much more work than I had anticipated however the magnitude of the problem became more clear in the subsequent week as the compost settled following rain/watering at which time many more stones became visible (see sample photos attached). I contacted Marshall Grain about this and they acknowledged (kudos for admitting this) that apparently my load had been temporarily dumped at a site where gravel had previously been stored and that they had overlooked this when they prepared my load for delivery. It struck me that it sounded like someone may have been aware this occurred prior to it being delivered yet no one reached out to me to take responsibility. A half-hearted apology was offered for the oversight however this response was very disappointing given I had paid for a load of compost not for compost AND gravel. While I was not expecting a full reimbursement for the load purchased, I would have expected some form of refund in kind for what occurred. I understand that mistakes do happen however it is how a business responds to make things right that makes them stand out from their competition. In this case, Marshall Grain fell far short.

Response to Marshall Grain feedback: it appears that your previous apology has been retracted. Your statement that I should have expected gravel in the compost delivered is hard to fathom but that the amount I encountered should be acceptable in your view is even harder to understand. Found it also surprising that no one from Marshall Grain even made the effort or offered to stop by and see the problem firsthand. To say that my feedback is inaccurate and unfair is baffling. I have included a couple of representative photos in my edited original feedback….the pic with the bucket of stones are those that I manually picked of the lawn after spreading about a third of the load, I gave up after that. And again no, I was not anticipating nor requesting a full refund.

Hired Marshall Grain to do some landscaping work here in Southlake. We also used them when we lived in Grapevine. Both jobs were completed on time and came out great. The crew was professional and did amazing work. We only did the stone edging on our flowerbeds and it looks great. They also helped us with some grass fungus we had and used organic materials which we appreciated! Very happy and will be recommending them to our friends especially their new location in Colleyville!

We had a great experience with our Marshall Grain landscaping project. They designed a beautiful plan, were prompt and professional throughout the project, and kept the job site clean every day. The crew was hardworking, respectful, and clearly took pride in their work. We’re very happy with the results and would highly recommend them.

Unfortunately, a year after hiring Marshall Grain for their landscape consulting and installation, I cannot in good faith recommend their services.

When I met with her, I found their landscaping expert to be very patronizing and controlling in her methods, while simultaneously contradicting her own advice from meeting to meeting. I requested ecologically-sound processes for developing a xeriscaped design, along with native Texas plant recommendations. All in all, I had a very specific brief when working with her on our landscape design, with a clear and set budget.

Not only did her proposed design exceed our budget, but she didn't even complete the yard design, saying that it would be too expensive to do everything we wanted to do. (Which was strange, since she had already gone about $2,000 over budget...why stop there?) To be clear, much of her actual design provided well and above what I had requested in terms of number of plant needing to be planted. But because we liked the xeriscaping design, we ended up hiring Marshall Grain to install the hardscape areas--water drainage and a central walkway. The crew was efficient and respectful. Working with them was the highlight of my experience.

The landscape designer had inexplicably dissuaded me from installing decomposed granite in the walkway, opting instead for a less environmental-friendly alternative of weed cloth and pebbles. The weed cloth is already deteriorating into the soil below it, and weeds are rampant in the pathway, despite the barrier.

Marshall Grain has been notified of this issue, and simply told me that they do extensive research into ecological weed cloth solutions, and that we received the best environmentally-friendly weed barrier on the market. While that might be technically true, I've been told by other organic gardeners that finding an actually ecological weed cloth is just short of impossible. I would say that Marshall Grain is operating under ignorance of this fact, but I would hate to undermine their apparent expertise. I'm now tasked with pulling the disintegrating fabric up so I can eventually install the granite I originally envisioned. It is what it is.

They have somewhat competitive prices on their nursery plants, and I've had good success buying from them over the past decade. But this landscaping experience continues to be a thorn in my side. If you are looking for competence in native Texas and organic gardening, I would direct you to Native Gardeners in Euless. They have true expertise and amenable customer experience. I've hired them for a recent landscaping installation and only have good things to say about my experience.

This review is meant to be a recitation of my experiences to help someone else looking for landscaping advice. I am really not interested in bashing the business, or receiving any kind of response from a representative from Marshall Grain for this review. My experience could be a one off, but I felt compelled to share it with my community nevertheless.
