Called to make an appointment and technician came out same day. He was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

Mr Fernando has done work for us on my washer fridge and I just reached out for another repair I'm surprised by the reviews I just saw I have always had quality service by Mr. Fernando.
-
Fridge still not working after he checked it out.. said #s from.whatever scan he did looked good but freezer won't drop below 20 and fridge at 50.. that's not normal!
-
They cancelled my appointment 19 minutes after calling to confirm appointment. I was home, just missed the first call. The appointment windows are huge (between 12 - 5 PM.) Hadn't had someone cancel the appointment without trying the residence before.
-
They've been out to our house 4 times since November and still cannot figure out why our washer is leaking. Every girl in the office I have dealt with is very rude and will not even let us know where we are "in line" for the appt, they will only give 4 hour windows.
-
Horrible never got my washer fixed they would just come and check it and say it’s unbalance, but it was really the transmission that was broken that somebody else had to come and look. They didn’t even send a renewal letter because they know that they’re trash.

The first tech that came out took one look at the fridge at some liquid in the collection tray and said it was a leak and he could not fix it. Had to wait 3 days for the more experienced tech to come out He said it was not a leak and found the real issue. Unfortunately he had to order parts. That took a week and then he did not show up at his promised time for his appointment. This company does not care about their customers. Would not recommend and wish I had another choice but this is who my fridge manufacture forced me to use.

Please be smart and read these other reviews. Keep looking elsewhere Unprofessional office staff. Unforgiving after you have adjusted your schedule! customer service is not important to the owners. The only good thing I have to say is the technician who came out to my residence was the complete opposite of what I had countered with the front office. I had to take the day off to accommodate their schedules. They over book their technicians. Not courteous to Front Line Workers during COVID who need their appointments the first time they are made.

Don’t deal with this company . Very rude and unprofessional. I called let a message for the owner to call us so we can let him know how rude Fernando was to us. He never did. We waiting home all day for them to show up and they never did. You are suppose to answer your phone when they call. If you don’t they won’t come to your house. If LOWES is making appt with this company to fix your appliance. Have them send you to another company!!

Called on one day, got an appointment for next day. They showed promptly and diagnosed problem. Since problem was not urgent, they promised a call back with prices for the 2 required parts and labor. They called Monday and gave us a quote which we accepted. Came Tuesday and completed the work, adjusting the bill down $50 because it took less time than they estimated in quote. Repairman wore shoe covers and mask; and cleaned everything he touched and some things he didn’t. Will definitely use again when needed and will highly recommend to others.

If you need an appliance repaired, DO NOT take it to this location. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a business with better reviews because the reviews here are valid. Customer service is poor, business ethics is poor, and they are definitely NOT a reputable business that Scotsman should be recommending on their website. The service we requested this business to perform was not the service we received. In fact, we were overcharged for materials and labor is questionable. We requested the unit to be cleaned, replacement of the unit feet, and asked them to throw in a new scooper that fits in the holder.
They descaled the unit, hooked it up to their bathroom sink water supply that is hard water next to the toilet. The unit looked filthier than when we dropped it off, any hard water buildup on the inside of the unit looked the same if not worse than when we dropped it off for cleaning. Parts and cleaning solution that cost a few bucks on amazon were ridiculously marked up. It took them 2 1/2 weeks to replace two parts that could have been done at another Scotsman location in San Marcos within an hour. It would have been worth the drive. Furthermore, if you pay nearly $500, wouldn't you want your unit to look better than when you dropped it off? That did not happen, and unfortunately, the parts we really wanted replace were not provided. They had their personal ice scooper in the unit and it was clear they were using it. What was even more disturbing, was that they refused to give us the unit until we paid for their services even though the office staff couldn't provide us with an invoice.
The technician told the office staff not to release the machine to us until we provided payment. We were not going to pay for "services" blindly. In short, we paid what they demanded and urge others NEVER to use this business unless you want to get ripped off. We also contacted Scotsman so they are aware of their business practices. This business DOES NOT deserve one star. -
My husband and I had an outdoor kitchen built. Within a year, the refrigerator door sensor was consistently beeping although the door was shut properly. We called the kitchen design company and they contacted the fridge manufacture. Caltex was sent by the manufacturer (Marvel) to repair an outdoor refrigerator. After numerous attempts to schedule a service call, the appointment was made and a technician arrived to make the repair. The refrigerator was malfunctioning again by the end of the day. When I contacted them, they suggested the rubber seal on the door was dirty and refused to come back. I went back through the installer and Marvel again had Caltex contact us to make the repair. Again, their scheduler did a very poor job. When we finally agreed to a date and time, they didn't arrive. I called to complain and the "manager" refused to let me speak with the owner, refused to give me her name, and then hung up on me and would not answer when I called back. This is certainly not a reflection on Marvel or the outdoor kitchen designer we used. It is a reflection of incompetence and poor customer service on the part of Caltex. I wonder if the owner(s) are aware of what their employees are doing to the business' reputation.

Greetings to all who find this,
Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!
I have a leaking refrigerator, purchased from Home Depot. So the malfunctioning ice maker dripped down the front of the refrigerator causing surface damage to the left french door and water/ice chute. Cal-Tex came out, assessed the problem and "fixed it". A week later it started pouring water again, "Not Fixed." The young man that came out was the same to respond to the second service call. It was then that he agreed the door was damaged and needed to be replaced. Following so far?
- defective ice maker unit
- caused damage to my refrigerator door
So it's come to this, the door was denied. According to Home Depot, it wasn't added as additional damage. Cal-Tex just asked for one, called it replacement due to some kind of damage, that isn't covered anyway. Unbelievable! So I've wasted hours of my time explaining the situation to Home Depot. Finally it has been accepted as covered.
Summation- Cal-Tex has some MAJOR ISSUES!!!
1. You HAVE to do a better job ordering parts for your customers.
2. Who ever the lady is in your office that answers the phone.... Oh My God! You seriously need to find someone else to deal with your customers. And I am not the only one... Read your reviews... She is pretty bad on many fronts.
3. I really liked your tech (the young man that came out to my house). And I found him very knowledgeable. The problem is at your front end and delivery of the product. I'm going to assume that she probably orders your parts too. It would make sense, weakest link and all.
Anyway, moving on... -
Cal-Tex facilitated a repair through a Lowe's warranty for me and I am very pleased thus far. Isaac from their office came out, looked at the issue and troubleshot it down to a part that is rare to have issue and would need to be ordered. He explained the troubleshooting steps he took and how he deduced the problem part. He was clean, friendly, well spoken, and did a great job. I look forward to their return and final resolution of the issue. Will update then.
UPDATE: Isaac came back out once the part arrived. Arrived on time and prepared, was very professional, walked me through the steps he was taking, replaced the part, and did a once over to verify everything was working. I gave it a few days after the replacement to make sure everything worked right and everything is perfect.
Cannot recommend this team enough. Rest assured, if you are assigned CAL-TEX as the repair company for a warranty repair you are in good hands. I hope I never have to utilize my Lowe's warranty again, but if I do I'll request Cal-tex. -
Bad repair and bad service. They have been out 4 x to try to fix our 2 year old dryer and want to charge us each time and say it’s something different. We made the original repair appointment through Lowe’s where we purchased the dryer. One of those repairs we waited for 5 hours in the window provided. We called twice to see when repair person would arrive. The second call we were told he didn’t have time to stop by. No call or anything. People change their work schedules to wait for the repair only to be blown off! Lowe’s has also received feedback.

I recently made a warranty claim through Lowes for the ice maker within my refrigerator. From the beginning, Alejandra was very kind and helpful when it came to scheduling my appointment. Fernando was the technician that came out to my house. His communication and customer service skills are above and beyond. I've had other technicians come out to work on the ice maker through my Lowes warranty plan, and no one was as thorough as Fernando when it came to explaining the process and going through the necessary steps to making sure the issue is resolved. An overall awesome experience.

The service and experience I receive through Cal-Tex was absolutely horrendous and inexcusable.
Cal-Tex was sent out by LG through a warranty call.
The technician "diagnosed" the no-cool issue on the refrigerator as someone having left the door open. Thus not covered under warranty and charged me $135 to remove ice from the compressor and told us to leave it unplugged for 48 hours.
Around 54 hours later we plug the unit back in, the next day the exact same issue arises.
Called Cal-Tex and the woman answering the phones said it would cost another $95 plus any parts and labor. I told her it shouldn't, As the issue was misdiagnosed. During the course of this conversation the woman responded with a series of sighs and scoffs and explained that there is no way they misdiagnosed the issue, as their technician called LG and did what they said.
An LG technician showed up, within 5 minutes diagnosed the issue as a blockage on the condenser side, replaced it and left all under warranty.
After speaking with Cal-Tex and demanding a refund I was told their supervisor is working and has no signal, will call me back tomorrow. It's been three days since then. No return.
Additionally, Upon speaking with LG it seems Cal-Tex submitted for a warranty payment through LG.
Needless to say, I wish I would've seen the reviews on this company prior and asked LG for a different company to be sent if no LG technician was available.
Lesson learned.
Update: Supervisor finally called back.
Went back and forth with me saying their technician did not misdiagnose the issue, that their technician had to de ice the unit, That I should've let them come back out.
Issue is, there was ice build up on the unit again. So if their technician is too inept to find the issue any time there is ice, then we would be going back and forth til the end of time.
Thankfully, Daniel with LG has the ability to diagnose an issue instead of only de icing unit. -
Frigidaire sent tech from this company to fix new refrigerator that was having an an build up of ice in the freezer. Tech came out and said he didn't know what the problem was but would research the problem and call back with solution. He never did and canceled ticket through Frigidaire. Frigidaire sent a tech from a different company and it was a faulty seal and was fixed that day.
