Black Velvet Chimney

We had Pete come out to take care of our dryer vent as well as inspect our chimney prior to the upcoming winter. He kept great contact with me leading up to the appointment.

Upon arrival to our home, I did request he wear a mask prior to entry. He declined informing me that he has asthma and can't breath with one on. I honored that, but did feel uncomfortable. He went about cleaning our vent and inspecting our chimney and did the job well.

Ultimately, the reason I am leaving a poor review is that he is very opinionated and came off as offensive at times. To me, I like when contractors are able to have some small talk with homeowners and create a rapport. Some of the conversations that he initiated though were, in my opinion, unprofessional and offended my family.

He came out as promised and assessed the problem quickly and efficiently! Fixed it right away and for a fair price! Great guy! I would use him again!!

This company was recommended by a roofing company because of a hail claim. When I asked for a bid, they were significantly higher than what was approved by insurance. I went back to the adjuster, got the amount approved and when I wanted to move forward, the representative wanted $500 of the $1125 up front. This isn't my first time hiring for repairs. I was told a long time ago that a) you never give money up front and b) if you're asked, hire someone else because they're trying to rip you off. I'm not paying a "small deposit" of half the repair amount just for them to show up. I would not recommend this company.
