It’s been 2 years since our project completion. From the beginning of our design phase with Designer Clay Wager we have always been taken care of. Now, 2 years later, Southerwind is still offering great service. Nothing but great things to say about their Service Manager Larry Mendez who is constantly available to help us navigate pool ownership.

I have been a service customer with them since they built my pool in 2007. They are excellent on keeping my maintenance going so I have a sparkling pool all the time. Working with Charlie, we have kept my system up to date so I can stay current on technology and extend the use of the pool. I highly recommend their services. They are a caring one stop shop for all things related to having a great pool.

When we started our complete backyard overhaul (rehab and remodel existing pool, add outdoor kitchen and living space, fire pit, etc), Southernwind was the only company that was able to capture and expand on our vision for our backyard remodel. The team was great to work with and the results were incredible. They really delivered the “wow factor” that we were looking for and we love entertaining guests in our beautiful outdoor oasis!

We had postponed this review for quite some time, but we would like to acknowledge Southernwind Pool. In 2017, we reached out to Southernwind Pool, among four other reputable companies in DFW, and in 2022, we decided to move forward with installing a pool. As first-time pool owners, we were initially overwhelmed, but Moses, the designer, put us at ease. Despite our sloped backyard, Moses did an excellent job with the design.

Like any construction project, there were challenges, but Southernwind promptly and professionally resolved them. Building a pool is like building a house; delays due to materials, labor, and weather are inevitable and part of the process. It's normal to have moments where you wish you had done things differently. One aspect we regretted was not adding more lights, so it's advisable to discuss lighting options with your designer based on your pool's size. Apart from that, we are thrilled with our pool. Even after completion, we had numerous questions, and Greg kindly came over to explain the systems to us.

During a recent winter storm, our pool had a 2-inch sheet of ice on top. We contacted Southernwind Pool for guidance, and Greg promptly called back to advise us on what to check and reassured us. Working with Southernwind has been a pleasant experience.

Southernwind built an amazing pool for us and we rarely have repair issues but when we do they are prompt, professional and great to work with. Highly recommend them !

Clay Wager is amazing to work with! He listened To all our requests and ideas and was able to come up with an amazing concept.! He is really an exceptional designer and is able to think outside the box and come up with ideas that are not like all the others. Southernwind was a pleasure to work with. They finished our project on time and in budget I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody!

We are currently under construction and can’t wait for the finished product. Certainly, the weather has delayed some timelines, although who can control that - only GOD can. Southernwind designed and built my pool in 2022/23. I worked with a few other companies and they had the best design and overall value proposition. During and after construction, if an issue arose, John and team made sure I was properly taken care of at every turn. On the service side, Larry (manager) is absolutely top notch and always makes sure I am happy with the service. John and Larry’s consistency in making sure that the customer is happy and treated fairly is the main reason why I am leaving a 5 star review, they’ve earned it.

We absolutely loved working with Southernwind Pools. The quality of work was top notch. The time table for getting things done was done quickly and efficiently. All people that came to complete the work were kind and by the end of the day if the work hadn’t been done you wouldn’t have known they were there. Each day everything was cleaned up and kept neat.
We are so happy with the work and with the company. Charlie was top notch in communication. We already have referred him out to others and our neighbor’s pool work starts next week! Give them a call for sure.

I recently hired Southernwind Pools to replaster my pool, replace the tile and coping, and install a handrail. I could not be happier with the company. All work was completed in a prompt, professional manner, and everything looks great. I especially appreciated that all my communication was directly with the owner John Verselt, who promptly answered all my questions and kept me fully informed. All workmen showed up exactly when John said they would.

We had high hopes when we began our pool project with SW Pools. Our initial experience was promising—our designer truly listened, visited our property, and delivered an incredible vision for what felt like a dream backyard oasis. Unfortunately, that designer left the company shortly after, and from there, the experience went downhill fast.

What was supposed to be a premium project (we spared no expense) turned into a frustrating, drawn-out ordeal. The execution dragged on for nearly two years, and even now—two years after what they called “completion”—we are still dealing with unresolved issues. Despite providing a written checklist multiple times, as outlined in the contract, SW Pools has failed to deliver on key fixes.

We have stones that are crumbling or falling off the structure, unresolved drainage issues, and other glaring problems that were never addressed. Communication has been inconsistent at best, and promises made by John Versfelt have repeatedly gone unfulfilled.

If you’re considering SW Pools for your backyard investment, we strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. We regret trusting this company with such a major project. The end result has been more stress and disappointment than relaxation or enjoyment.

We searched numerous pool companies…requested quotes by all and it seemed like we were a number. Then came Rane With Southernwind Pools. We knew we would have a small service fee (Southernwind Design Fee), although we were willing to take the leap of faith. WOW!! Rane hit it out of the park. My wife was so impressed - I knew we found our crew. Partnered with JT! BAM…it’s coming together.

We’re very happy with our Southernwind pool! Clay did a great job on the design and John has been very good to work with. The install was professionally done and they made sure I was satisfied every step of the way. Ongoing support has been great. John is very attentive in promptly answering any questions that we may have and is always willing to come out to help if needed. Southernwind also seems to have a great deal of strength in their relationship with their suppliers. Southernwind has requested a couple of equipment warranty issues for us, and the timeliness in the response they get from their suppliers has always been very quick.

The automated in-floor system they install is a huge asset that keeps the pool very clean without having to own or run a pool sweep. Overall, I believe Southernwind uses top of the line equipment and materials which is a definite plus.

Bottom line, a very pleasant experience with a company who seems to still value customer service.

Southernwind Pools and Clay Wager hit a grand slam! We could not be happier. Clay is a phenomenal designer. His entire team took care of us from start to finish and made the process fun and enjoyable. Clay's attention to detail was far superior than his competitors. His vision and design concepts captured exactly what we were looking for. From our original consultation, Clay distinguished himself well above the others. He listened to what we were looking for and then exceeded our expectations with his design concepts, attention to detail, and vision for our backyard. Any questions that came up, it was a quick call to Clay and it was solved. Would recommend Clay and Southernwind Pools for any project.

Please don't disregard this post as a bot-generated review. I am a real person with real experience with Southerwind Pools. My pool was a custom design build on a 30 degree-grade lake lot. To call it a challenge is an understatement. The design was complex and the build was literally an up-hill climb. The professionals at Southernwind did NOT disappoint. John and crew delivered a five-star pool and spa with infinity edges, water wall, state of the art systems and knock-out water features. The flaming water pots define the experience at night. Travertine decking for the patio and lower sun deck. While the pool/spa is insane, the post-production service is white glove. My advice: Be willing to pay a little more for Southerwind's diligence, quality and service. Looking forward to the next one with Southernwind...

Great service by our pool guy Hilario Calleha. He is such an efficient and knowledgable technician, and most of all always so polite and friendly. Grateful for his fantastic service!

Southernwind Pool did an awesome job with our pool installation. We came in with a clear vision and Mike was fantastic at making that vision come to life. He was precise with every detail and made sure we had the design exactly the way we wanted it from the beginning. When it came to installation, Ben was equally awesome with keeping track of all of the trades (and we had many because of all of the terrace work). If something wasn’t right, it just took one call and Ben was on it. There were a few times when I’d see something that didn’t look right and he’d make a special trip over to ensure mistakes weren’t made. We even did an add on landscaping project with their sub contractor and the mix between the pool project and post pool landscape interfaced very well. Overall, the team was outstanding, the only challenge was in the transition to self maintenance and the availability of information about how the system operates. But again, Mike ensured we were satisfied all the way to the end.
Big thanks to Southernwind Pool. We can’t wait to enjoy our pool this summer.

We used Southernwind to redo our pool - new plaster, tile, and coping for both the pool and spa. I do want to say we are thrilled with the results, it's a beautiful pool now. But the process was not great. What was a originally promised to be a 1-2 month project took almost 5 months to complete. Communication was severely lacking - emails and phone calls would go days or weeks before being answered and then not even answer all of our questions prompting follow ups that again would take days or weeks to hear from them again.

Again, we love the work and are happy with the quality. But the process was a very negative one. It really felt like we were the "cheap" project no one wanted to deal with.

Working with Southernwind was a no brainer. We compared designs by several other pool companies and the vision Adam Johnson presented was exactly what we were looking for.

Adam took the time to listen to our thoughts and was able to build upon them to bring to life the backyard oasis we were looking for and plan on enjoying for decades to come.

When Adam brought our vision to life via video we assumed he’d move on and hand it off to the Project Manager and he’d disappear. Nothing could be further from the truth. He was there weekly to see our vision come to life. That’s what you get with Southernwind- a cohesive team approach to the build. We never felt like we weren’t sure what the next steps were. Our build was completed on time and on budget.

From the front desk, to the design, and to the build, Adam and Southernwind showed they have what it takes to make anyone’s back yard dreams come true.

We are under construction (3/21/18). Crews have been here working very hard on our project. From the design experience with Moses, to our project manager Ben, to our scheduler Angela, truly this has been a great experience thus far.
Almost every good weather day has been used and Angela communicates frequently who will be on-site and what they will be working on. The crews work diligently and it is evident that they take pride in their craft.
Southernwind has provided us with superior quality of products and superior people. We couldn't be happier to say that we've had such a great experience considering some of the nightmare stories we have heard from friends who happened to choose other companies. If you are looking for a pool builder, do your due diligence and research many as we did. We are so happy that we chose Southernwind Pools to be our builder and I think you will be happy, too.

Turned out great!! It was completed mid-May and as mentioned in previous review, everything with the build went very smoothly! We couldn’t be happier!
Our landscape architect is Ted Nichols with Focal Pointe Landscaping- he did an incredible job and it really finishes our build. It wouldn’t be the same without the landscaping to complete it. Ted was great to work with and was able to give us great ideas as we weren’t quite sure what would look best. Way better than we anticipated it would be!

The only blemish on an otherwise smooth build is the punch list (which was not long at all- just a few little things which we couldn’t be happier about) after all said and done. It has taken them a little longer to wrap up a few details, but I attribute it to them being busy with other builds and only a set number of crews to take care of the minor details. Beyond that really minor issue we fully recommend Southernwind. Quality, craftsmanship, care, communication all throughout! We have loved every bit of the pool this summer and really had a great experience with everyone involved at Southernwind!
