Home Services reviews in San Antonio, Texas

We recently worked with Maldonado N&L to complete a significant landscaping project for our home, and from start to finish they did a phenomenal job. Before selecting Maldonado we met with 5+ landscapers, and what set them apart was the design and attention to detail that Daniel Firova brought to the table. He is an excellent design architect, but beyond this his ability to listen to what we wanted and willingness to work with us to bring it to life was excellent. He and the team were extremely responsive throughout the entire process and we are very happy with the outcome. Had high expectations coming into this project and they exceeded it. Would highly recommend them!

We attempted to hire Maldonado for a landscaping project at our home, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Ultimately, we suspect they were short-staffed, and our residential job wasn’t large enough to take priority over their commercial clients. I wanted to share our experience for the benefit of other residential customers considering their services.
We first reached out to Maldonado in late April 2024 after purchasing a newly built home. Their initial response was prompt, and they quickly sent a designer to meet with us. The designer arrived on time, was professional, and offered some great ideas for our yard. However, that’s where the progress stalled.
The designer assured us he would have a rough plan by the following week, but it didn’t materialize. Several weeks passed before we finally received the rough draft, during which he cited computer issues and other commercial projects as the cause of the delay. This seemed understandable at the time, and we eventually met with the designer to review the draft. From there, we were supposed to receive a finalized design plan, but it never came.
Weeks passed, and by early July, we reached out to a supervisor at Maldonado for assistance in getting the project back on track. We even requested a new designer in hopes of speeding up the process. The supervisor assured us things would start moving but did not reassign our project.
The designer contacted us soon after, promising to deliver the final plan within a couple of days. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. After more waiting, we decided to move on and hire a different landscaping company, as we wanted the work completed before winter.
While working with our new landscapers, we mentioned the issues we had with Maldonado to one of their subcontractors. He suggested that, based on his experience, our project was likely deprioritized due to Maldonado’s focus on larger commercial properties.
In the end, we’re very happy with our new landscaping company and wish Maldonado no ill will. They were always polite and professional, aside from the significant delays on our job. However, if you’re a small property owner looking for landscaping services, be aware that you may face long wait times if your project isn’t a top priority for them. -
Daniel and his crew were extremely easy to work with. We were pressed for time to have our landscaping project finished before a certain date and his team rose to the occasion and got it done. Very professional and responsive to all our questions and requests. Highly recommend!! Thank you

Maldonado Landscaping did a fabulous job in totally re-doing both my front and back yards. Henry Gallagher and his design team came up with a beautiful design and Ted Martin and his installation team (Brian, Fidel and others) made it all happen. All these guys worked really hard and went above and beyond in making my landscape a show piece. Henry and Ted did great with communicating the status of the project and the daily plans. Ted has been great with following up on any small issues that have come up since the completion of the project. I would highly recommend this professional landscaping team. Thank you Maldonado Landscaping! I love my new landscaping!

UPDATE SEP 26,2024*****
Insurance claim has been denied here's what the response was from the email I received from their insurance. Take what you Will from it and learn from it.
"Thank you so much for your patience while this was being investigated; However, after speaking with our insured and reviewing the police report, our decision is for denial. Our insured and their employees adamantly deny this incident occurred or was caused by their operations. Although, there is a police report, it was a four (4) hour gap from the time the incident occurred and when reported to law enforcement. Also, the report lists our insured (Maldonado Landscaping & the employee, however, no statement was obtained from them to verify the allegations against them. Based on this, there is no evidence of our insured’s negligence. A denial letter will be forthcoming, however, I wanted to explain our position first."
I want to share a recent experience to help others avoid similar issues. While landscaping work was being done at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, Maldonado nursery and landscaping damaged my wife’s car window. Despite our efforts, the company has refused to cover the repair costs because we do not have enough proof or "the story does not add up".
Here’s what I recommend if you find yourself in a similar situation:
File a Police Report: This creates an official record of the damage, which can be crucial for resolving disputes.
Document the Damage: Take clear photographs of the damaged window and the surrounding area.
Obtain Insurance Information: Request and record the insurance details of the service personnel, as they typically carry this information in their vehicles. this is their current insurance FCCI Insurance Group.
Collect Evidence: Gather as much evidence as possible to support your claim, as companies WILL try to avoid taking responsibility. Grab photos of the equipment that caused damage, and security camera footage if possible.
Taking these steps will help you protect your interests and ensure a fair resolution if damage occurs.
I hope this information proves helpful to others facing similar challenges. -
We stopped by Wednesday to check out the nursery. Pretty front entrance. Service inside was terrible. Of the 3 ladies inside they did not know or show any interest in helping us find sansieveria. Must be a landscaping service. Inside the center were no house plants so we won’t be stopping by again. Pretty pineapple plants and lots of fruit trees. The employees had no interest in saving the new veggie plants that were dying from the heat.

5-STARS for sure! Daniel was exceptional in his approach to design the landscaping for our VERY challenging backyard. We’ve always had an idea of a cool design for landscaping, but never could come up with something on our own. In comes Maldonado with Daniel’s ideas for a design through CAD and it was everything we wanted, in nearly one shot! Minus a few changes, it was perfect.
Then the install… another 5-STARS! It was supposed to take 11 days and they finished in 8. The crew was professional and clearly skilled in landscaping. They were clean and thorough and if we had any questions, Daniel made changes literally on the spot, if not very quickly.
The finished project turned out beautiful and virtually seamless in the process and we would absolutely use Maldonado again with Daniel’s help, of course! -
I contracted with Maldonado Nursery and Landscaping to completely renovate my front yard. The previous owners had landscaped the yard by creating hills by which water runoff and dead grass areas were a serious problem. Maldonado Landscape Architect, Daniel Firova, developed a plan to accentuate my home’s architecture and presented the plan via a CAD program. The plan involved removing 7 dump truck loads of uneven soil, installing a new walkway from the street, new heat resistant sod, new water conserving sprinkler system, reinstalling accent lighting, two flagstone walkways, and new vegetation. The plan was to take 4-6 weeks, it was finished in 4 weeks. As various issues rose , the company was quick to respond. Maldonado complied with all aspects of our contract . We couldn’t be happier with the completed project, the quality of the work, and responsiveness of the site foreman and project managers.

We contacted Maldonado after trying to get responses from local contractors without success. We were contacted quickly by Daniel, their designer who visited, talked about our preferences for our backyard. Throughout the process, Ted, the supervisor was in constant contact about any questions we had or if there were any delays (very few!). The quality of work was outstanding and the final product was better than we expected. I don’t feel that priority was given to other jobs at all. I will definitely use them again and give them thumbs up!

Very good job on my yard and garden. Very professional and reasonable in price. I recommend Mowtown for any Landscape service.

Motown Landscape cuts my yard and leaves it looking sharp. I’m very pleased with their service and professionalism. Never disappoints. I highly recommend this business.
-
Execellent company for landscaping needs. I shopped around and found their price to be half of most other bids for my sprinkler system. Not only was my cost half of what other companies wanted to charge for my oversized yard, but this company was professional, cleaned up nicely and went the extra mile to ensure My yard was covered! Found them on home advisor, now all you have to do is call them, as I did all the research for you! They will not let you down!! I will be calling them next for my water feature.
