Beautiful nursery. Went with my parents to go get some perennials and ended up with some petunias and coleus plants and a lime tree. My mom did get her perennials and a lemon tree. They have so much variety and the roses smelled amazing. We spent about two hours there but seriously could have been there all day. Fantastic place to get everything you need for a beautiful garden.

I love Rainbow Gardens! Always great customer service. Most recently Robert was a wonderful help in the perennials!

Beautiful garden center! 😍 This is a fabulous place for the whole family. There's a lot to see and the outdoors stands are a wonderful bonus. We really enjoyed sitting by the Koi pond as well 😊 there's a huge selection on plants, shrubs, herbs, and everything in between. Even some of the harder to find plants can be found here. We could easily spend the whole day here. I also want to add that the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I can't picture anything better than Rainbow Gardens, definitely a must see!

This is one of the best gardening centers in the area. I drive about an hour just to visit and purchase gardening supplies, plants, herbs, seeds and flowers. They have a huge selection of plants and trees. Everything is reasonably priced. They also have a Koi pond and a beautiful butterfly garden. Everything is beautiful there. Definitely will become a favorite of yours once you visit. Grab a friend and make a day trip of it.

Sorry for the late post, it's been a long afternoon in the yard. The service I received at Rainbow Gardens is next level. I never spend more than 5 minutes in an aisle without an educated guide to offer assistance, truly! So, holli assisted me and basically read my mind. She asked me all the questions about the soil I was hoping to transfer plants to, and whether I was intending to introduce this into my home and later the outdoors... so many questions I never really knew needed to be answered, and she explained why.

With regard to value: I've had 2/8 trees and shrubs die from rainbow gardens. The two died during the scorching drought.

Absolutely love rainbow gardens and how knowledgeable their staff are! Can't beat what they offer.

I had the best experience at Rainbow Gardens thanks to Claire and Brant! Before I made the drive from the Bulverde area, Claire personally checked to make sure they had the exact variety of Silverberry I needed (even sending me photos)! Brant was equally helpful once I arrived, loading up my cart and helping me get everything into my truck quickly on a very hot day. I was in and out fast and made it back just in time for a work meeting!

This was my first time visiting this Rainbow Gardens location, and I’ll definitely be back. I even noticed their prices were better than the north side location—and both are beautiful nurseries! Highly recommend! My husband planted the shrubs right away and they are doing great!!

I’ve spent about $1000 between both rainbow nurseries in the past month and every single plant is thriving!

It is one of the best garden stores in San Antonio. They have an amazing variety in plants, ornaments, and a wealth of information when it comes to plants. I love going to this plant zoo!

This is my first time visiting the marvelous and wonderful garden. My B.F.F., her niece and nephews invited me along. 😁😊🌸🌺🍄🦋❤️💞❣️ I love seeing the adorable butterflies, the birds... The fish are cute in the lovely pond. 🐟🏞️🌊🌻🐦 The Rainbow Gardens is awesome. It makes us feel we're in Super Mario Land or Alice in Wonderland. 📺🎮🍄🧢👑🌸🌺🐇🥕🕳️

We were referred by Kabayan Resto owner to Rainbow Gardens… and so off we went. We were not disappointed; we found succulent varieties that we don’t have yet. A staff named Billy gave us tips on growing succulents. He was apologetic though that their succulents were not that many. Looking around, there was a varied array of plants - flowering, ornamentals, herbs and many other types. The store carries garden essentials from rakes to soils. They even sell cute mini-figurines and Mexican decorative ceramic pots. The cashiers were friendly and patient with me. What a pleasant plant shopping experience we had at Rainbow Garden. We will definitely return here!

Stopped by on the weekend to pick up few plants and small trees. Very large selection of different plants and varieties of the same plant. I only planned to be there about 15 minutes, but easily spent an hour browsing and picking up more than I planned.

There's so many options whether it's an annual, perennial, small, large, horizontal, vertical, flowery, greenery, etc... There's also nice garden accessories, decorations, soils, mulch, etc... If you're looking to any garden work, they'll have everything you need. Also, very friendly and helpful staff throughout the grounds.

I could of easily spent all day here. Unassuming from the outside but a wonderland for plant lovers inside. It’s huge with several different greenhouses and a lovely outdoor area. I came specifically looking for a calamondin tree, which they currently don’t have, but left with some jasmine vines and a stunning mandevilla. I will definitely be back. Also would be a great place to shop for gifts for a home/patio/plant lover as they have lots of things that would make a great gift.

Omg!!! What an incredible customer service I got from one of the botanical experts from this wonderful garden centre!!
Hesus, who was on the phone with me for a long time was my guide when I came with so many questions and concerns about my monstera deciliciosa plant. I had so many issues with it that I was thinking of tossing it and starting afresh!
But Hesus took the time to look at all my pictures I've sent and asses my plant, pay close attention and put so much effort into guiding me of what to do!
It was a fantastic conversation and customer service from him, with a lot of reassurance!

I'm extremely happy and satisfied with his amazing service and would come to this shop just for him based on my experience!
Truly an expert of plants and very kind and professional!

I had never heard of this place until I went to my sister's event next door. She told me that she'd heard good things about Rainbow Gardens. I love cacti and suggested I check them out. I've been there twice now, and each time, I have left with something. Cacti, of course! The Bandera location is huge and has so many plants for every price point. Love that! They have everything from bird baths to metal decor to garden essentials. I've purchased six cacti in the two visits. One died, though. A reason to go back. I have found cacti that I've seen online for great prices. If you're a plant person, definitely check it out. I do wish they had more cacti, but so far, I have not been disappointed. I want to visit the Thousand Oaks location and see what they have as well.

I really love this plant nursery. It’s gorgeous and has an amazing selection. Found everything I was looking for. It’s massive, and could get lost forever (in a good way!). Will be recommending this place.

Brant helped me decide between two trees I was considering and with expert knowledge he described the flaws in each. I was glad he was there to help me decide. He was also very helpful and loading the tree which had to be at least 80 to 90 lb and some soil conditioner. Thank you for being such a great help Brant!

I love coming to this location because of the wide variety of plants inside and outside they have. And the employees are very helpful and educated on the variety of plants. I do wish the gravel/rocks were easier to maneuver on with the carts or buggies. But other than that this place is awesome

I delivered here a load of roses 🌹 on my big rig.If you are coming from 1604 loop and when you arrived in front of the nursery make a U-Turn before the lights and then enter from the second gate on your right hand side and then back up the trailer near the garbage containers.
Very nice and helpful staff here.Restroom available in the middle of the nursery

A Truly Magical Garden Experience — Especially for Lovers of the Unusual, the Exotic, and the Bug-Eating Kind!

Rainbow Gardens on Bandera Road is hands-down one of the most beautiful, well-run, and downright enchanting nurseries I’ve ever visited—not just in San Antonio, but anywhere. As someone who loves plants of all kinds (especially the weird and wonderful ones), I came in hoping to find a few basics… but I left with a cart full of treasures and a renewed love for gardening. 🌿💚

Let’s talk about what makes this place special, starting with their carnivorous plant selection. Yes, you read that right—carnivorous plants! These bug-hunting beauties aren’t something you see every day in your average nursery. They had Venus Fly Traps, sundews, pitcher plants, and even a few specialty varieties that would make any plant nerd absolutely giddy. I was especially hunting for a healthy sundew (aka Drosera, for my fellow plant geeks), and the second I laid eyes on their stock, I knew I hit the jackpot. Bright, sticky tentacles glistening in the light, vibrant coloring, and clearly well cared for—these weren’t just healthy; they were thriving.

But it wasn’t just about the plants — it was the experience. The staff at Rainbow Gardens are next-level amazing. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and above all, extremely knowledgeable. I asked a ton of questions about how to care for my new carnivorous plant babies — light levels, water type (distilled only!), how often to feed, humidity needs — and not only did they answer everything, but they seemed genuinely excited to talk about it. You can tell this isn’t just a job to them. They love what they do, and that energy is contagious.

In fact, one staff member walked me through how their sundews actually digest bugs using enzymes, and how to spot signs of overfeeding or underwatering. I never felt rushed, never felt like a bother, and I left with both plants and knowledge. That’s rare these days. Customer service like this is gold.

The layout of the nursery is also a dream. Everything is organized beautifully, labeled clearly, and spaced out so you can browse without feeling cramped. Whether you’re looking for succulents, vegetables, herbs, flowering perennials, houseplants, or native Texas-friendly species, you’ll find it here — and likely leave with something you didn’t even know you wanted.

And let me just say: this is a sanctuary. The pathways are lined with colorful blooms and buzzing pollinators. The air smells like green things and fresh soil. There’s shade, sunshine, and even little places to pause and just exist among the plants. It’s not just a shopping trip—it’s a full sensory experience that feels almost meditative. I didn’t expect a garden center to become a place I go to decompress, but here we are.

Their pricing is also fair, especially for the quality you’re getting. I’ve been to other nurseries where the plants look sad, sunburned, or root-bound, but Rainbow Gardens? Every single specimen looked lush and cared for. You’re not just buying plants—you’re investing in a healthy, vibrant addition to your home or garden that’s already had a strong start.

And yes, if you’re into rare or exotic plants, Rainbow Gardens is a must-visit. Whether you’re an experienced collector or a curious first-timer wanting to try something different, this is the spot. I never thought I’d be able to find a living bug-trapping sundew at a local garden center, but here we are—and I’m in love. 🪰💧🌱

Today I visited the Rainbow Gardens nursery on Bandera Road in San Antonio, and it was just as impressive as their Thousand Oaks location. The Bandera nursery offers a fantastic selection of plants, pottery, gardening tools, seeds, trees—essentially anything you could want to enhance or beautify your garden.

I enjoyed walking through the grounds and exploring their wide range of offerings. I ended up purchasing a couple of beautiful flowering plants to finish off my hanging baskets. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and there were plenty of checkout stations, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable.

Parking is decent, although it can get a bit tight during peak times due to how popular the place is. Still, it’s worth it for the variety and quality of what they offer.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, I highly recommend visiting either of Rainbow Gardens’ San Antonio locations. You’re sure to find something you’ll love—and leave with more than you planned!

Amazing experience with lots to see and explore! They have everything from fruit trees to orchids to houseplants to Texas native plants and flowers. There’s a large greenhouse with garden herbs, air plants, houseplants, etc. as well as a whole outdoor section that you can spend hours roaming. Everything is taken great care of! Loved seeing at all the different pollinators enjoying the flowers here as well!

You can find great options for potting soil, fertilizer, and mixes here too.

This garden center is truly everything you could hope for and more. It’s a stunning, peaceful haven for plant lovers and garden enthusiasts alike. The sales team is incredibly friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They know their plants inside and out, and I had no trouble at all finding exactly what I needed.
The selection is absolutely phenomenal, offering a diverse and vibrant array of healthy plants, beautiful shrubs, majestic trees, and high-quality garden essentials. Every visit feels like a new adventure there’s always something fresh and inspiring to discover.
I especially love strolling beneath the towering, graceful oak trees. The atmosphere is so calming and serene, with the deep, melodic tones of the massive wind chimes gently echoing in the breeze. It’s magical. I could easily spend hours here just soaking it all in.
Thank you to the amazing team for creating such a warm, welcoming, and visually breathtaking space. This nursery is truly a hidden gem hands down one of the best garden store I’ve ever been to.
