We signed up for a discounted tune-up service through Home Depot and Mountain Air Conditioning and Heating happened to be the company that came to perform the service. During the tune-up, the technician claimed to have found an issue with our air conditioner, which was less than a year old and had been working perfectly fine. They strongly suggested we move forward with further diagnostics to check for a coolant leak, which would have cost us around $500.
Since the unit was still under warranty, we decided to contact the company that installed it to see if the issue would be covered. To our shock, we discovered that Mountain Air Conditioning and Heating was the same company that installed our unit!!—they just didn’t realize it at the time!
We called the office back and explained that their technician had identified a possible coolant leak which should be covered under our warranty. They sent out another technician, who gave us a completely different story, saying everything was working fine and that there was no problem at all. This was extremely distressing proof that they were just trying to charge us extra money for a problem that didn’t exist.
Do not trust these people! Their practices are dishonest and they were clearly trying to take advantage of us. We will never use their services again and strongly advise others to steer clear as well.
