Installed a cinderblock retaining wall along the property line in the back yard and did a great job on that project. Im very disappointed in the services rendered in my cleanup project. I would recommend second guessing their 'hourly rate' estimates as a simple weeding project went from roughly $400 on the bid to $900 on the invoice. For perspective, The wall cost just under $3,000 and took a week to complete, then was charged $900 for 2 kids to weed for half a day. I would have appreciated the advance notice that portion would be double the estimate.

We have never worked with a better company. Richard was dependable and kept in constant contact. Not only was our project done beautifully, but he was the only company to get back with us. The Bytendorp crew was great with us, and made sure we were in the loop and perfectly happy with the results. I can tell you that we love our newly landscaped back yard!! Bytendorp Landscaping did some sprinkler work for us that was top notch. They also added some flower beds in. Both sprinkler manifolds were replaced, heads were moved, and the lawn has looked better than ever. They are responsive and detailed in what they are quoting.

Very unhappy with the work done no warranty on plant's large trees planted with wire baskets not removed. Do your own research but this is not a proper nursery practice. Make sure to go over there bid extra hours for equipment not used.

Alan and his team were hardworking and knowledgeable! He was kind and answered all my questions and requests. Our yard looks great with new sod and a new sprinkler system! We can’t wait for the summer.

To preface this I generally do not leave reviews but our experience has been so frustrating I have decided not to wait until the job is complete to leave a review because at this point I don't feel confident that the job will be complete before winter. We signed the contract in May and the job was supposed to start around June 7th. Because of rainy-weather it was pushed to June 21st. Which we understood. Then, for no particular clear reason, the actual job didn't start until July 21st. Richards first crew was a joke. The guy didn't show up until 10am during 100 degree weather, and he only worked until 1pm. He had no idea what he was supposed to be doing so he literally just pushed dirt around for a week until thanks to my husband, had some clarification as what the job was. Richards communication has been horrible. I am confident that nothing would be done thus far had it not for my husband being on him daily to get things done. We were delayed even further when Richards rock crew was tied up with other jobs. Again, thanks to my husband he pushed Richard to find another rock crew to send over. The rock guy showed up a few days late, laid 3 feet of rock and then nothing for a few more days when finally someone else came and finished the wall (almost finished the wall because there are still unused rocks just sitting). Now our back yard lays quiet with no fence, ditches for sprinkler system dug up, pipe just laying everywhere and nothing has happened for 2 more days. Fence posts were supposed to go up yesterday and no one showed up or called. We are now basically to September and the fence, sprinkler system , sod, Landscaping has not been completed. Initially Richard told us the job shouldn't be more than a few weeks. We have been very patient only asking that he communicate what is happening and that has not happened. I finally thought we were getting somewhere last week when one of his crew knocked on the door saying he had to leave for another job. They have clearly bitten off more than they can chew and have treated our job like it is less than and not important. Richard is quick to push blame on to other people when he doesn't communicate. We put off any trips this summer, any backyard bbq's and other to do items on our list to get this done. There has been equipment here sitting at the house unused for weeks at a time. Our experience to this point has been a series of let downs and extreme frustration. All that we asked for in the beginning was for Richard to communicate with us so that we knew what was going on. That has yet to happen.

Since we received Richard's name from our neighbor, we wanted to be your virtual neighbor!

We had Richard pour a back patio for us and plant a tree. His prices were very fair, and he went the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of.

He was very easy to get hold of and very responsive to meeting with us before and after our work day.

It took over a month from when we signed the contract to when they showed up to get the project done (one week of that was my fault as I was out of town) so I was even more disappointed to see that the final invoice was higher than the quoted price. Felt nickeled and dimed when we were billed for less than an hour of extra labor. PRICES ARE HOURLY NOT BY PROJECT. Mine was a small three hour project. And that was billed at an hour longer then what was anticipated. I can only imagine what would happen on a large project. I signed the contract knowing it was hourly, I had just hoped they had the ability to quote a small project like that accurately. That was my mistake.
We needed to get the landscaping done because we needed to adjust the grade in our yard so our window wells would stop flooding (it saved us on the four or five really wet days in April). We had bought a pump to keep the water out (we had the pump before the project was started, had hoped to be able to return it when the project was done but no return policy is long enough for how long the project took). Not only did we pay them more than what was quoted, we incurred more costs on the project because it took them so long. Overall, wouldn’t recommend unless desperate.

I have had these guys do everything from sprinklers, laying sod, and weekly yard care. They offer weed pulling with their weekly mowing, I have LOVED that. I didn't have to pull a single weed all year.
They always arrive on the day scheduled and my yard has never looked better.

Richard response was quick to come look and bid on my yard. He was one of the few landscapers who was willing to share ideas and thoughts on what we could do with our back yard.
Because of this we hired him last summer.
I was pleased with the vision and some of work that is why the 2.5 stars if I could.
BEWARE...though.
I was “rescheduled” multiple times as he had to do other jobs. He was honest in telling me they were personal jobs that he did for others for trade for him, but if I am a paying customer it’s not a good look.
There were also many corners cut and a few jobs left half done. I asked them to level an area before spreading gravel. They just spread the gravel. After asking to have it releveled it wasn’t. They buried a roof rain pipe drain without moving it. I also asked for this to be fixed, it wasn’t.
Overall the vision and initial promptness was very good. The follow through and work average.

We had a fairly large backyard project and Richard was incredibly helpful with our plans and patient with all of our questions. His crew is the best. They completed the project very fast and were communicative throughout the entire project. We LOVE our results. I highly recommend them.

RUN from this company!! As you can see from many other reviews, we aren't the only ones that feel this way. Extremely rude, absolutely horrible communication, it took months for them to start our project and we constantly had to reach out to Richard, often with no reply asking about updates about our project. Every little thing he can blame on the customers he will. We put in a new mailbox the day before they started and the son ran it over with a tractor and tried hiding the fact that he did. They tried putting it back together and coloring it with a sharpie. His son proceeded to say "if it was my house I wouldn't care" about our new mailbox we just put in. I expressed our frustrations to his son and told him we didn't listen to all the bad reviews and he proceeds to tell me "we have no bad reviews, look at KSL"
These people need to treat people better in general. The work they did was absolutely horrible. They did not fill our parking strip with enough rock, and as others have said, the new sod did not come in in many places and 95% of the grass is weeds. They charge you for way more sod than is needed and instead of giving it to the paying customer, they give it away to their workers. They are overpriced compared to other companies. They do not take criticism and will turn their back on their customers so fast. Will never recommend to anyone. Worst experience and we will have to redo the sod this coming summer.

Richard was phenomenal. Showed up on time with a large crew, and they worked so hard. What I thought was going to take 8 hours, was done in half a day. I had a lot of grading and leveling to do, and it was done perfectly. Richard and crew paid a lot of attention to detail. I'll never use another landscape contractor.

We used Bytendorp Landscaping to replace our watering system from sprinklers to drip irrigation. It was a big job that involved working in and around existing trees, bushes, and different elevations throughout the yard. They did a terrific job. Their work was professional and well executed. They communicated with us frequently, keeping us informed of their progress and any obstacles along the way. We were impressed by how well they worked as a team in completing the project on time and on budget. We were happy to have a watering system that saved us money and was maintenance free throughout the summer.

We also used Bytendorp for their landscaping services. We had them dig up our lawn and replace it with drought-resistant plants. We appreciated their suggestions on the best plants to use and recommended color arrangements. They did the actual planting, and the result has been beautiful, with minimal follow-up care.

We highly recommend Bytendorp.

Richard and his team did an absolutely amazing job on my backyard project which included an irrigation system, sod and a 6ft white vinyl fence. Richard was always available to me even when I pestered him with random newbie questions about caring for my new sod. I plan on using his services again next year for my front yard project. If you want a seamless experience with beautiful results and to not have to manage multiple contractors yourself, go with Bytendorp as they can do it all and will do it all well :)

We recently completed a full landscape remodel with Bytendorp Enterprises. This was extensive with excavation, retaining, lots of hardscape, extensive plantings, and sprinklers. From bid to work to handling changes Richard and his crew were top notch. The bid was competitive but, the real value is the professionalism of company and its workers. We have done a number of large projects over the years and Bytendorp is one of the best contractors we have worked with to date. They accommodated our changes happily and provided many suggestions to help the project come together. The finished product is better than we could have hoped and we get a constant stream of complements from neighbors including some now doing or considering projects with Bytendorp themselves. I would not hesitate to recommend them highly to family or friends.

Thomas and Richard were extremely polite and showed up on time for a consultation. What impressed me most, was they were honest and told me what I asked them to come out for (an outside French drain) wasn’t necessary. They could have gone ahead with a bid and done the work, but instead they spared me from spending on something that wasn’t going to fix my problem. I really value the honesty and will definitely call them for other landscaping needs.

Great experience with Bytendorp, especially with Alan who was on-site to make sure that my requests were taken care of. Would definitely work with again.

Bytendorp was great to work with. The entire team was courteous and professional. They worked quickly to install a sprinkler system in our backyard, power rake, and put down a new layer of top soil. Our sprinkler box flooded 2 days after install but I actually like it when something small goes awry on a project. It gave us a chance to see how well and how quickly they resolved the issue. You can trust that these guys will do it right and if they don't, they will work fast to fix it. It's refreshing to see that kind of accountability. Over-all great experience.
