Steve and his crew did a great job removing a grown-too-large, multi-trunk maple too close to the back of our house. An additional challenge was important drainage piping a foot below the surface of the surrounding yard. Lots of climbing and careful rope work was required. From 4x8 plywood sheets first placed to protect the pipes from impact to the final hand-raked twigs and sawdust clean-up, they did the job safely and efficiently, and for a very fair price.

Steve is very very knowledgeable and professional, he knows a great deal about trees and the health of forests. He will help you make informed, thoughtful decisions about your trees and can handle any emergency.

Steve and his team have taken care of the trees, big and small, on our property for years. Sometimes they are rescuing us from the destruction of giant fallen limbs; sometimes they are preventing such occurrences, and sometimes they are artful collaborators in the pruning of trees within a garden context. I would highly recommend AVA Tree Service for tree removal projects. Steve is extremely experienced and knowledgeable about how to think about tree removal and screening. We purchased our Stowe home last year and AVA performed several large scale tree removal projects, one of which required a crane to remove two massive trees hanging over the house. Complicated and dangerous work to be sure. The work was completed professionally and at or below the estimated cost. He even helped deal with our neighbors to ensure we were in compliance with property lines. We are extremely pleased with the professional service and work that AVA Tree Service provided.

Ava Tree Service does exceptionally thorough work. Steve is very knowledgeable about a wide variety of trees. He and his team tour the garden on arrival and then share their suggestions for pruning. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding Memple Ridge Cleaning. They did not show up for a pre-paid cleaning nor did they respond to several phone calls / voice messages. STAY AWAY. Still waiting for a response, let alone a refund.

I rented a townhouse in Stowe and shared it with other family members for a weekend. It was nice to arrive to a spotless, squeaky clean home. The kitchen and bathrooms were immaculate, beds were nicely made, everything in its place. The overall cleanliness of the home, enhanced our stay and I would highly recommend Memple Ridge Cleaning for any property owner.

We worked together to complete a complex redesign and build creating a guesthouse. Understory served as project management and build--they did an amazing job coordinating complex set of subcontractors including landscaping. The quality of the work is excellent, communication was open and effective, response to issues was rapid. I highly recommend working with the team on your projects!

Understory Design Build constructed our new home in Morrisville VT. Our work with Brad and Kieran started in the design process. Their input was invaluable in finalizing a design to match our needs. Throughout the build process their attention to detail, high level of communication, and professionalism was unmatched. They listened to our concerns, made thoughtful recommendations, kept us informed and explained the process well. After build completion they addressed our “punch list” concerns quickly.

We ended up with a great design with a quality build that was both on schedule and on budget. Kieran and Brad were wonderful to work with. We would highly recommend them and hire them again!

These lovely folks built a garage , breezeway and renovated my kitchen and fixed lots of other smaller issues. They cater to you individually to meet your specific needs and taste , they are not cookie cutter builders at all. The make the design process fun and exciting. All their workers and contractors are professional and accommodating. I never want to go out any more other then to go in and out of my Garage.

In 2017 Understory Design Build stripped off the worn siding on our house and replaced it with Hardie Board. It was a big job and it was perfect when done. It is now seven years later and it still looks and functions as brand new. When we decided to upgrade our small gazebo to the same specifications as the house, we had no doubt that Brad and Kieran should do the job. It is wonderful to have both looking so great. On a personal level, they are a delight to work with. They ask good questions, are clear about the details, oversee their employees, and fix anything that is amiss. Don't work with nightmare contractors. Hire Understory Design Build and you will be satisfied.

My hot water heater went out on me Tuesday morning. (Because it is winter and below zero, of course it was going to go out! HA) The Granite Group didn't have it, but they got it and I had my hot water tank the next day! Other folks it was going to be 10-15 days! Wonderful group of folks to work with!
