Let me start by saying that our front yard was the laughing stock of the neighborhood. For the past three years, we’ve tried everything we could to get grass seed to grow. But between a bad slope and improper drainage, we finally had enough. We had initially tried a different landscaper but after their initial estimate came in at double our budget (after we paid an $800 design fee), we looked elsewhere and came across Jeremy South and Southside Specialties. From the onset, we couldn’t have been more impressed. Jeremy knew exactly what the costs would be based on our desires. Once the project got started, his team was very professional and very expedient. As things progressed, we changed and altered a couple things and Jeremy was all too accommodating. Between the sod, retaining wall, and proper drainage, our front yard is now the pride of the neighborhood and I’ve had several neighbors ask who did the work. I couldn’t recommend Southside more. Give them a call.

I contracted South Side Specialties to take down two trees from my back yard. The trees were very close to my house and leaning towards it and with the winter months coming I didn’t want to risk it. Though they weren’t the cheapest quote I’m glad I chose them afterwards I had no regrets at all. They were super professional and swift but most importantly extremely skilled. The crew was solid and someone was always available to answer any question I had. I’m looking forward to using them to construct my new patio in the spring.

Jeremy was quick to respond to my request for an estimate, and very reasonably priced. He even came early! He called to say he had an earlier appointment available, which worked for us.
His crew was efficient and respectful. They left me a spot to hang my bird feeder, which had been a concern of mine. They discussed with us which branches needed to come down, and removed them cleanly and quickly.
I would recommend South Side Specialties very highly.

Jeremy and his team are the best! From a design standpoint he understood our vision right away, which was so important. His team works fast and does an amazing job from start to finish. I highly recommend South Side Specialties and plan to work with them on projects for years to come.

South Side created a beautiful stone wall that sets off a large parking area on our property. Jeremy suggested incorporating lighting into the structure and I love having that area lit up starting at dusk and throughout the night. The guys on the work team were professional, the job site was always left in good order and Jeremy really is out to please his clientele! I give them a great rating because they deserve it.

We recently lost a part of a tree during high winds. We contacted Jeremy with South Side Specialities and he provided us with a reasonable estimate to take down the rest of the tree and remove the stump. We were very happy that he and his crew were able to complete the job on the same day. Jeremy was very easy to work with and, he and his crew were very professional. They also cleared up all the debris and left our front yard looking good. We would definitely call on South Side Specialities again and recommend them highly.

I highly recommend South Side Specialties! Jeremy and his crew were efficient and thorough. I had to have a tree removed and a couple of overgrown trees pruned. Not only do my trees look great now but my yard and driveway are spotless! Jeremy is super knowledgeable and made sure we understood the pruning process to ensure that our trees remain healthy and manageable. The crew worked efficiently and did an excellent job!!

Update: I have had three projects with Southside and the experience for all can be summarized in one word - Excellent!! The latest was a walkway to access our rear patio (Southside project from a year ago) to accommodate my wife who is now wheelchair bound. Not only was the walkway done on time, within budget and beautiful, but they made it slope gradually so my wife would not have to deal with a ramp at the end.
Prior review: It has been a pleasure dealing with South Side before, during and after the installation of our new walkway and patio. Jeremy is very friendly and professional. Everyone else we had contact with from the company was courteous and responsive. The work results were outstanding, and we are very pleased with the finished products. I did not hesitate to give South Side five stars.

We called Jeremy at Southside to offer suggestions for some erosion and drainage issues. We loved his ideas and he promptly sent us an estimate for this project as well as some landscaping upgrades we discussed. They started work two weeks later. Started on a Monday and finished by Friday. He and his crew did a wonderful job! They buried downspout drains, regraded a section of our yard and put in a beautiful stone walkway. They replaced mulch in all of our beds and our yard is now spring ready! Can’t recommend them enough!

Jeremy's team did a fantastic job on my front stoop and walkway. They were able to start the project 2 days after contracting with them. The team was on time, hardworking, professional, and did a beautiful job. I would certainly recommend Southside Specialities for any landscaping or patio work.

South Side did an amazing job transforming my patio! Jeremy and Chris checked in regularly throughout the project and the crew was extremely professional.

Southside did a small project for us which consisted of re-doing our flagstone front stoop which was in need of a makeover. All projects have their challenges and this one was no exception. The difference is who is going to be steadfast in delivering for the client? First, Southside is fortunate to have quality people doing the work and interacting with the client. Chris (Ops Manager) was determined to make sure our experience was a good one. He was responsive to all of my requests and was a pleasure to work with. He knows that its all about the client! Promises only go so far. Chris delivers. And then delivers more!
As for the crew, they are master craftsmen. Rene and Jose are highy skilled, personable and great reps as the face of Southside! Having worked on billion dollar infrastructure projects, highly skilled craftsmen are tough to find. Rene and Jose are a treasure of skill, positive attitude and pleasing the client! Southside is good! Their people on the front line like Chris, Rene and Jose are exceptional.

We were absolutely delighted with the work done by South Side Specialities! They placed a lovely stone walkway and built a unique tiered stone border around the garden in the front of our house. Jeremy was wonderful to work with and made great suggestions for the excellent crew to execute. I highly recommend South Side!

Jeremy and his staff over at South Side were amazing! I let him and his team run with design/plant selection and it came out better than expected. His installers are outstanding and know everything about what they are planting, and they pass that information along to the customer. Couldn’t recommend them more.

Team did a really good job. They weee competitively priced and were able to do a design the others could not do. As with any project there were some hiccups, but they took care of them professionally and efficiently. I’d hire them again without question.

Jeremy, Frank, Julio and the team did a wonderful job grading my front and side yard, installing a dry creek-bed with river rock for drainage, and laying sod and mulch. Jeremy was knowledgeable and was good at anticipating what I was looking for with the landscaping/draining. During the work, Julio kept me up to date on their progress and Frank was exceptionally helpful with scheduling and logistics. I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

Jeremy and his crew were amazing to work with! I was looking for a flagstone patio that would step up beautifully on the hill in my backyard. Not only did they do an amazing job on the design, but they were professional and kind as can be! I would highly recommend South Side Specialties to anyone looking for a new addition to their home.

Jeremy and his team did a great job fixing the drainage problem we had in our backyard by installing a 150ft long french drain. They regraded the land to smooth out the surface and direct water towards the new drain, laid down new grass seed and straw to prevent erosion. That evening a huge storm came through and washed away some of their work. Jeremy and his team quickly came out and fixed what the terrible weather had caused. Highly recommend, quality work and will definitely use them again. Thanks!

I was in the residential/commercial landscape business for over a decade. My fiance and I had recently purchased a new home and needed some work done quickly and at a fair price. Unfortunately, due to such a busy schedule, I was not able to do the work myself. However, I started looking around and I came into contact with Jeremy / South Side Specialties (SSS) via Yelp. I had multiple estimates for a pressure treated retaining wall, three drain pipes, a low level deck tear down, river rock/flagstone and artificial grass install. From day one, I knew he was going to be the company I went with. He was super professional, came in at a fair price, completed the project quickly with a very professional/knowledgeable staff and has been amazing to work with on the back end. He was so good, I recommended him to my parents for a massive hardscape project and to my homeowners association for some tree work our community needs completed.

We had no issues with Jeremy / SSS at all. A lot of companies don't really care about you once the check is cashed and the project is completed, but not Jeremy. Throughout working with Jeremy on my home project, he had found out that my grandfather was very ill (eventually passed away). Approximately two weeks after the project was completed and paid for, Jeremy gave me a ring and left me a voicemail checking in on my family and I to see how we were holding up. You have no idea what that meant to us - he's an absolute professional with a big heart and amazing customer service. Jeremy and SSS have my highest recommendation I can give them!

I'm glad I chose South Side Specialties to do our small patio. The end result looks really nice and completely suits our needs for years to come. Although the project didn't go as smoothly as we all would've liked, South Side Specialties was always very pleasant and responsive and didn't leave until we were 100% satisfied. I know if we ever have any needs in the future, this is a company I can rely on.

At the beginning of the project, we had a hard time visualizing the different options for our space. Luckily South Side Specialties helped show us different options through 3D design. If it wasn't for the design and being able to see the options, I don't think we would have been as happy with the end result. This was an extra service but totally worth it for us. The design team was creative and worked with us to fine-tune exactly what we wanted.

The project itself was straightforward. Unfortunately, the team messed up the slope and water was pooling on the patio. This was frustrating and stressful for us but we all have to remember that no company or person is flawless. South Side Specialties owned up to the mistake and re-did the patio. The commitment to excellence even after the project was completed is very telling of an outstanding company that stands by its work and does the right thing.
