The amount of mess surrounding this builder is beyond me. Good luck getting anything completed that they screw up after closing.

I lived in Craftmaster build house for 3 years, I discovered one issue in the house and contacted them, they offered to fix the issue, this is after all warranty work expired.

Looked nice when I moved in but now after 6yrs you can see the structural falling apart. Door frames peeling, nails showing through the walls, cracks on the stairs/window seal...that's just to name a few. I would not purchase from them again.

These people build the cheapest home you can ever imagine. Issues so far include water in crawl space, ac and heat malfunctions, electrical problems(nearly causing fire), frozen pipes due to terrible insulation, plumbing issues, and numerous other issues I don’t have time to write about. I think a cardboard box is built with more quality. Been living in this Crapmaster home for 5 years and have had more issues than the 60 year old house we moved from ever had. The owner (Jeff Tunstal) is the most arrogant piece of work you will ever meet. Buyer Beware!

I live in Viniterra, an expensive, high end development located in New Kent, Virginia. Jeff Tunstall, president of Craftmaster Homes, is building homes in our community but is also building an exclusive phase that is part of our development. I am writing this review, and have already contacted Berkshire Hathaway, who owns Craftmaster Homes, about recent concerns associated with Jeff Tunstall. Potential buyers who might be considering Craftmaster Homes should determine if they want a builder that displays a lack of respect for existing communities that he is building in. As I mentioned Tunstall is the sole developer of a section of our Viniterra community (called Phase IV - located at the end of Angels Share Drive) that requires him to utilize Angels Share Road to bring his heavy equipment, materials and trucks in order to access the backend of our development. Over the past month, he has had trucks running 10-12 hours a day (Monday thru Saturday) hauling dirt, rocks and stones on Angels Share Drive. The trucks are noisy and leave large clumps of mud, rocks and stones on this private residential street. Viniterra residents continue to complain to the HOA Board of Directors requesting that they address this issue with Tunstall. The proper way to clean the roads is with a street sweeper that uses a vacuum, water and appropriate brushes to remove all debris generated from his trucks. Finally we reached our to New Kent County Administrator who had to intervene on the behalf of the Viniterra residents since our HOA Board of Directors and Jeff Tunstall were unresponsive to our request to properly clean our streets and restore them to their original condition. Tunstall finally arranged for a sweeper with a brush (no water or vacuum) to push the dirt, rocks and stones onto resident’s lawns, curbs and driveways and into New Kent county sewers. This “cheap” method produced dust storms during the 10-12 hour workdays. The air quality of our neighborhood has been severely impacted and our lawns, driveways and houses are covered with soot. Numerous residents have complained about the unprofessional behavior and lack of respect for our beautiful neighborhood from our BOD and Jeff Tunstall but the saga continues. Today (1/5/2023) Angels Share Drive remains a muddy site due to the fact that Tunstall company will not properly clean up his mess - can you imagine how he might cut costs when building your home)! BUYER BEWARE - reference the other negative reviews on the Craftmaster website.

Working with Amy was such a fun and enjoyable experience. She is so knowledgeable about what CraftMaster has to offer, responsive to the MANY requests and questions that I had, enthusiastic about the process and she just made this process so much easier for us. We couldn't be more excited to see our vision come to life.

From start to finish, the process was very smooth, professional, and informative. Amy started the process and strategically walked us through the entire process, who we’d be working with, timelines, and building information. At this particular point in time, things are as promised and on plan. The communication and follow up from the Craftmaster team that we have been working with has been stellar to say the least. Thanks to Amy, Betsy, JB, Jack and Chris for making this a very positive experience. Will recommend highly.

Mungo Homes is a builder who cares! Family culture runs through every aspect of this company, from the sales teams and the builders to the builds themselves; and everything in between. There is a Mungo difference you can feel!

In response to Craftmaster’s message to my previous review. I’m unable to respond so I’ll create a second. Their response is inaccurate. The warranty items were not complete. In fact, it’s not even close to done. They have never mentioned shortages to me. No communication has happened. Warranty director has not reached out in months. I’m up to 12 different occasions where I took off work to accommodate them and each time it was either a no show, cancelation, reschedule, or incorrect product being fixed. They have cost me a lot of money in lost wages and time. Consider other builders when building your dream home. Our dream is turning into a nightmare.

The warranty requests that you submitted have been completed. As you know, current market conditions have led to significant material and labor shortages for all builders. Because material defects are covered by manufacturers, we cannot guarantee their availability, or a timeframe for installation. We always update our homeowners with the information we have as soon as it is available, and complete warranty requests when the material and labor are available to do so. We thank you for your patience as we all navigate these challenges.

Amy is amazing to work with. She’s very knowledgeable, personable and caring. Amy took her time to show us multiple craftmaster homes in different neighborhoods, walked us through every step and set our expectations. Highly recommend!

Over all, they make a pretty good and quality home. We have certainly enjoyed ours. The only problem is that our appliances are failing. I had to replace the dishwasher just after a year. The refrigerator is currently making a noise. And three ceiling fan lights have malfunctioned and I cannot find a part for them. The electrician that wired the home said to go out and buy new ones and install them myself. I would if I could but am injured and it is hard to get on a ladder. I have owned the house we built for almost three years this coming February. I am still giving Four Stars because I love this home. The appliances were builders grade. I would suggest anyone buying to upgrade your appliances.

If you see ANY issues with your new home, do not sign the papers at closing until they fix it. We submitted our 60 warranty between 60-75 days of moving in. We are now at almost 9 months in and they’ve been to the house multiple times with multiple excuses as to why the work needs to be scheduled again. It’s a very unprofessional company and I would not recommend them to anyone. Find a different builder if you want good results and good customer service.

We purchased our Craftmaster home as a spec home in Rountrey. We have been very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. We have had little to no issues with any aspect of our home. Any time that we did have a question or concern arise, it was quickly and professionally addressed. We have lived in a Craftmaster home for over a year now and we have zero regrets.

I cannot give anything higher than 3 stars based on the fact that we did not build with craftmaster , regrettably. If we could do everything over we would have gone with Craftmaster. The sales person we were working with was Amy and she is so informative, enthusiastic, and an overall pleasure to be around. Unfortunately we got pulled away by another builder who had more desirable prices , but we would gave gladly paid more and gone with craftmaster if we knew beforehand what we were going to endure with this other builder. 100% will build with Craftmaster our next go around.

9 years and 1 month later, my Craftmaster home had a very serious problem. When the home was built in 2015, the water heater was placed in the attic. This was what the builder recommended in their plans. This was not a good idea and this past weekend, my water heater ruptured and made a loud bang. We were out of town and water gushed through two floors for about 16 hours. Regardless of what builder you use, DO NOT EVER PLACE THE WATER HEATER IN THE ATTIC!!!!! You may want to get a tankless water heater. In any event, my claim was originally estimated to be over $125,000. Our home is not livable. If I had to do this all over again, I would have had the Hot Water Heater placed in the garage.
