Constraction reviews in Norfolk, Virginia

Nelson Peña is dedicated to getting the job done no matter what. He and his amigo Lorenzo hand loaded around 100+ bags of concrete with no complaints. They just got straight to work and made it all happen. Nelson is super friendly, and he cares a lot about his customers. Both gentlemen have such a great work ethic, and Nelson really values good presentation when it comes to his work. They left a great impressIon on me and have gained my respect 100%.

Nelson has been roofing for decades. He was familiar with my slate roof, identified the cracks and holes, and repaired it for a reasonable price. No more leak! He's up front about prices. No surprises. His giving me a 3-year warranty on his work speaks to his integrity.

Nelson and crew did an amazing job and cleanup. Pricing was far more competitive than order quotes we received. Definitely use them again.

Nelson was incredible. He and his crew didn’t waste any time— they got straight to the root of the problem. My leaky roof was completely fixed in just four days! They did an excellent job installing the low-e and ridge vent, all for an unbeatable price. Truly impressive work!

I hired Nelson with Matrix Construction of Hampton Roads, Inc. to replace my old roof. I am glad I chose him out of all the other roofers. He did an amazing job just like he promised. Thank you for the outstanding job, Nelson.

Mr. Nelson with Matrix Construction assisted us in checking our roof to see if there were any leaks or problem areas. He notices a few areas that needed attention soon to prevent future problems. We decided to have him complete the repairs and we were very pleased with the outcome. He even trimmed one of the bushes in the front yard and trimmed back a tree that was close to the front of the roof. He showed professionalism and scheduled the repairs quickly and cleaned up after the repairs were completed. Thank you – Nelson!

Nelson at Matrix is the true benefit of working with this company. He is a human, something missing from many of the contractors you may interact with. When my father was sick and I overnight took over responsibility for repairs, I had no idea what to do with a broken roof. Nelson understood my situation, repaired the roof within a day, charged me a fair price, and still checks in to make sure things are going well. A good business, a better man.

Nelson was AMAZING! I hit him up and he was out the next day with GREAT prices and service/results! I had been shopping around for a little while and getting companies asking for ridiculous prices until I came across Nelson’s sign posted in my neighborhood’s yard.

Based off of the end result you wouldn’t know that his specialty is roofing the way my gutter and siding came out! AMAZING JOB!

We hired Nelson to replace our old, leaking tar and gravel roof with a new membrane roof. I would highly recommend him to anyone having issues with their roof. Nelson was fantastic to work with - he was prompt in his responses and gave us updates about the project as he worked. He did an amazing job for us and clearly takes an incredible amount of pride in the excellent work he does (deservedly so).

Nelson was very professional, knowledgeable and got the job done in a timely manner. Definitely recommend and will reach for future needs.

My son’s closet ceiling fell in - ugh, what a mess! Nelson to the rescue. After an estimate from the “other guy” who stood in the backyard and sent his drone up, Nelson came over, within a few hours of when I called him, and got up on the roof himself (right after a rain storm!). He showed us pictures of the roof and what he thought was causing the problem: the damage wasn't obvious. So nice to have that small business touch - to talk to the owner, the one who would be doing the work. Best new yet, his estimate was half Mr. Other Guy’s! Needless to say, we booked him. Nelson did a great job, always in touch with kind communication. After he finished, he didn’t bill us right away; instead he waited until a heavy rain and then had me check to make sure the leak in the closet was truly fixed. Nelson’s a sweetheart and a pro. To top it off - he fixed some broken tiles on the front of my house (see pic). I didn’t even ask! That’s service.

Roof repair recommendation: Nelson Pena with Matrix Construction of Hampton Roads has worked on a few roofs of our properties, and he is very professional, friendly, and efficient. He patched leaks quickly and offers good warranties on his work. He works with our schedule, and makes extra effort to make sure we are satisfied, as well as being very reasonable and beats the quotes we get from other companies! Highly recommend!

The best work and a friendly crew. The work gets done rain or shine, no excuses. If you need roof work of any kind try them out, we've done several jobs together and are very satisfied with the outcome.

Nelson and crew did a beautiful job replacing the roof on my house.
I will recommend Nelson and Matrix Construction of Hampton Roafs, Inc. to my family and friends.

When the insurance company sent their spies to my property, they said "New roof or no coverage!"

Nelson Pena, the owner of Matrix Construction, will gives free estimate with several options using quality materials and stands behind his work. His company has 4.9 stars out of 5. My experience with him is 5 stars. He even added an extra heat vent as part of the roof replacement ...

Nelson is beyond fantastic, I can not say enough good things!

The original contractor I had over to look at my siding, gutter, and roof gave me the most insane estimate.

When I contacted Nelson he made sure to come by quickly, and then walked me through everything going on and what all of the options were.

The pricing was beyond fair, he did fantastic work, and he was honest and responsive.

I can not say enough good things about him and his business, and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone to help with the exterior of their home.

A few years from now when it is time to replace the roof on my home, Nelson will be my first call.

From our first conversation, the team at Matrix Construction was attentive, informative, and thorough in explaining every step of the project. They took the time to answer all of our questions and were always quick to respond to calls and messages. On the day of the job, the crew arrived promptly, worked efficiently, and maintained a professional and courteous attitude throughout. They completed everything as promised and left the area clean and tidy.

Thank you, Matrix Construction, for a job well done — we’re very happy with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to hire you again!

They were wonderful to work with. They replaced our roof for our house in July and just did our detached garage yesterday. We had to replace the whole roof and the estimate was spot on. Very easy company to work with. They even color matched our vents.

I regret that I recommend this roofer to my son for an active leak repair. He was told by the company estimator/ project manager that the existing roof was fairly new, in good shape and could be repaired. Following an initial failed repair attempt, the project manager stated that he was bewildered by the continued leaking but had his crew make a second “Repair” at an additional cost, rudely telling my son that he was giving him a great deal. Unfortunately $3600 later, following a period of mitigation, months of aggravation and more rain, the roof continues to leak in the same locations as well as others. Completely dissatisfied by the workmanship as well as the perceived ineptitude and condescending behavior of the project manager my son has decided, against my advice, to accept the monetary loss. He will hire another company to replace the entire roof.

WT Anderson did an excellent job on our roof replacement! Their staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to work with. The crew showed up on time and performed the work flawlessly! We are very happy with the results and will be using them for our other projects including Siding, Trim, Gutters and Windows!

Update:

WT Anderson continues to impress us with their work on our Windows, Siding, Trim, and Gutters! 10/10 we recommend!

Professional operation. Estimator showed on time, did a thorough check of attic and roof, landscape, generator and A/C for potential issues. Discussed replacing sheathing, rain diverters, pipe collars, drip caps and venting systems. Detailed estimate 30 minutes following the inspection, with shingle and underlayment material samples provided at that time. .
Large, complicated, mostly steep (45 degrees) roof plus a boat lift hip roof. Same 6 person crew worked 0715-1830 each day. Self-sufficient operation. Good clean-up each night. Project manager visited daily. Minimal shrub damage due to crew diligence. Careful boat lift roof methodology resulted in zero debris / materials entering the water. Excellent final trash and lawnscape cleanup. No hesitation to use them again. Pics are faded, old roof before, material delivery during tear off, and finished product.
