General Contractor reviews in Richmond, Virginia

They put off the date to start the job, and then it took longer than I was told. My main complaint is with the shower floor. They never sealed the grout, part of the floor tile accent square was missing, some chipped and broken when installed and several were not flush with the rest of the floor tiles The owner ignored my requests for.repair work, and then after almost 2 months, someone came out and fixed most of the missing, broken, etc tiles, but used the wrong color grout, and missed several area's of the floor to be grouted. I again requested follow up repair work which Mr. Gooden e-mailed me that he would do, but then again ignored my repeated requests, and even though he stated a %100 quarante, he has refused to send someone back out to fix the floor, instead he says it is my fault because I did not use the proper products to clean the floor. I have issued a complaint with the BBB,Angie's List, and will see this through. A phone call to his office ended when the person on the other end hung up on me. Also, they insist that the grout had sealer in it, yet the grout was turning yellow, and continues to turn yellow in the areas that were missed and other places on the floor.I would never recommend this company to anyone who appreciates good customer service, because it is certainly lacking in this company.

Our bathroom remodel turned out better than I could of ever imagined! The work crew was excellent and cleaned up everything. I will definitely be recommending them to friends and family!

These guys are awful. They build three tile showers in my new house. Not one had a floor properly configured. The water pooled in all showers. It took them three visits to fix the floors and still they are barely adequate. Now 5 months after moving it, parts of the floor in the master are over run with mildew. It could not be much worse.

heres why my family has used chesterfield tile repeatedly and has another project lined up. THEY FINISH THE PROJECT IN THE TIME THEY SAY THEY WILL TAKE. Yes, all of the work looks beautiful and yes they are reasonably priced (good work costs good money) but I cannot tell you how upset I get when a contractor says they will do X job in Y days and then its Z days later and its still not done. When Mike and Matt came to the house and tore up my bathroom they said I would have a toilet back in there by Jan 2? 3? And when the day got here, Mike was missing a part. And he WENT BACK OUT and GOT THE PART and FINISHED THE WORK IN TIME. If you have ever worked with a contractor, you know that this is RARE. Thanks Sondra and Thanks Mike! Yall are the BEST!

Waited 3 weeks for a estimate. They called the night before to confirm. Then the morning of the called 15 minutes after appointment time saying they are running late and it would be another 45min. I have taken time off work changed my schedule for this estimate. Have more respect for peoples time. I understand things come up and you run late. But it would be pretty simple to reach out and let me know as soon as you were aware you were running late not once you were already late. Will not use poor customer service

The whole floor needing to be replaced in a shower, and the shower retiled after that. After reading a lot of nice reviews for Chesterfield Tile on a popular commercial review website, I was looking forward to getting this smaller job done, because I have two bathrooms at another house that I wanted completely tiled afterward, and this made for a good test before shelling out more money for a bigger job.
First, the good:
1). The price was good, in my opinion
2). Everything from initial contact through sales visit and estimate went great.
3). The two guys that came out to perform the work were nice.
The disappointments:
1). Chesterfield Tile selected and installed a color for the walls that I didn't agree to. The shower floor and floor tile are fine though - the problem was just with the walls. When I called in to point out the issue with the tile color on the walls, that is when things went downhill, and I lost all confidence in their company. The owner tried various tactics on that call to force me to accept the wrong color including gruffly grumbling "read the contract". Fact is that contract didn't mention any color - we had agreed verbally on the tile's color, and I took the owner at his word that he would do what we agreed to. To his credit, but only after a long and ugly argument, he did eventually agree to replace the wall tile at his expense. My problem was I had lost all confidence in him at that point. I let them finish up the work at that house, went to their office to pay what I owed, and politely fired them.
2). (Warp ahead a few days) The people living in that house (I just own it) waited a full week for the grout to dry before using that repaired shower. Upon first use of the shower, the formerly free-flowing and working drain only let water out very slowly. Long story short, the Chesterfield Tile workers had dropped, or maybe swept, some grout, tile fragments or other debris into the open shower drain, which almost completely clogged it. That cost $412.94 to fix (replace clogged pipes/trap). I have the original clogged parts and pictures of what the plumber found, should the company make the mistake of challenging me, or we end up in court for some reason. Like I mentioned earlier, I had fired them earlier, and am done with the company forever - which is a shame, because I really need a good tile contractor. -
They did a repair job for me on some broken tiles in a shower. Nothing but first class work all the way. I watched the installer - he measured, rechecked, checked the level multiple times, all to make sure the job was perfect. Don't get your tile work done by someone who does tile work, painting, power washing, and fine art appraisal. Get someone who just does tile work, full time. These people were the best. You won't be sorry.

Rick and his team are wonderful! I have been working with CTC for over 20 years and can highly recommend their work to my clients and friends.

The office was very helpful, providing a quote and offering different installation dates, and suggestions of what size bars to install. On April 25, 2025, Paul and Kasey arrived promptly at 7 a.m. They were very polite and Kasey immediately covered the floor from the front door to the master bathroom. Paul was very efficient installing the grab bars, ensuring they were the proper height for me. Kasey was an excellent helper, moving quickly and efficiently. When they completed the job, Kasey gathered the drop cloths and they left my home without a trace of dust or debris. Highly recommend this team.

Chesterfield Tile Co was amazing! We had a bad leak and resulted in gutting a 2nd floor bathroom and rebuilding the walls and ceiling below and they exceeded our expectations. Everyone at the company was incredibly nice and they were so prompt to get us an estimate, answer my 9,000 questions and get us scheduled. I was really indecisive about EVERYTHING but they were so patient and even helped us with design (paint color, grout color etc) and it looks better than I imagined. We are going to use them to redo our other bathrooms because it was such a great (and affordable) experience. I wish the photos did it justice because everything looks incredible!

Let me preface by saying that they did make it 95% right by the end despite leaving chipped and cracked tile ...That was after them finishing on a Tuesday, and me not being told, albeit after I asked mind you, I almost forgot to tell you that the crew did not even have the common courtesy as to cut the tile and cement board outside which made a huge mess that I was left with and told it was finished on that Monday. The work was so sloppy and very rough in many areas, over 15 infact. That being said, within a few days another crew came out which was amazing and if they had been the crew they did my job, I believe it would have been done right... Overall not impressed especially for the price. Simply not left in a state that they would want someone to leave their bathroom in, and although they made it 95% right after 3 visits more and 2 calls later. but i will always see the scratches they left in my brand new bath tub and in my new sink...

Rick at Chesterfiled Tile we have known for awhile. When we decided to re do our kitchen we called RIck and they did a great job . Their tile as far as we are concerned are the best in the state. We also had them redo out two bathrooms and are very pleased.

I mean...what more can we say but we love Rick and his entire talented crew. Simply the BEST. Professional, Clean, Respectful, Supportive, Responsible, Responsive, and so on. 100% makes sure the project is done and done right. The work ethic and values mirror who we are. Sorry Chesterfield Tile, you are stuck with us. Our bathroom is now our favorite room in the house.

The team at Chesterfield Tile did a wonderful job on the clean up and repair of my house due to a major water leak. The new master bathroom they completed has been the envy of many of my friends.
They were always friendly and professional! I highly recommend them if you need any type of work done to your home! They pretty much can do it all! -
Rick Gooden and team are THE BEST construction company I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They are experts in every aspect of the construction world. They are on-time and run true to their proposed schedule and they are resourceful and find effective solutions to meet their customer's needs.
Finally, they are a high integrity, family-run business with a wealth of knowledge to share with their clients. They take pride in their work and truly care about their customers. I highly recommend them to anyone doing a home renovation project. They are so kind and have become like family to us! They helped make our house, our home. -
A friend recommended Chesterfield Tile to renovate our master bath. The work was fantastic. The tile work is excellent and the project came in on time and on budget. More importantly, Rick Gooden listened to us, made great suggestions and delivered. We liked the guys at Chesterfield Tile so much we had them tile our porch and patio, completely renovate our kitchen and guest bath and asked them to work on some projects for our daughter. Overall, we liked the subcontractors that were used for things like flooring and cabinets and thought Rick did a great job scheduling, coordinating and delivering on time. And the Chesterfield Tile team was easy to work with. Told us everyday what work was scheduled. And they a just nice people and professional. We are already planning our next project. We highly recommend Chesterfield Tile.

Chesterfield Tile Company did our remodel of our shower. They were absolutely amazing to work with. Every employee we had dealings with from start to finish were knowledgeable, friendly and very talented with craftsmanship. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting tile work done. I was hesitant to go with actual tile, (cleaning grout lines scared me) but after being educated in how far tile has come, it was the BEST decision. Our shower came out more beautiful than I had imaged. I love using our shower everyday. They have defiantly have been in business for so long due to the pride they take in what they do. I will be using them again for the hall bathroom for sure.

We recently had a plumbing problem that impacted the Tile Work in our Bedroom Shower and Toilet. The Plumber recommended Chesterfield Tile. We contacted Chesterfield Tile and they responded immediately, visited our house and provided a Scope of work, schedule and Budget. During the discussion, we asked for suggestions on improving the tile installation in the rooms and Chesterfield recommended an overlay with new bases to repair the finishes and "realign (square)" the tile layout with the walls. We agreed. The work was coordinated by Chesterfield and was completed on time and within our budget in accordance with our Agreement. We were very, very pleased!
The photographs below, left to right are: The Original Toilet Room Floor with unsightly patch below the toilet; The New Shower Floor; and the New Toilet Room Floor and the Original Shower Floor.
Again, we are very pleased with the work.

I have had three projects attempted by AAPCO since 2016. AAPCO completed our siding, composite deck, and replaced a couple of doors. The three doors were all installed as one project (same day). I was happy with the siding job, never happy with at least one of the storm doors install, and satisfied with the composite deck until problems started to manifest. It took over a year to get the storm door to be functional, at best...and many trips for AAPCO to do so. It could be a manufacture problem or install problem with the deck. With the siding install, all adjustments and corrections were done in a timely manner. Fast forward to March 2021. Paul came out to provide a couple of estimates on some exterior work on my home. He seemed knowledgeable about the jobs, very helpful, patient and polite. I appreciated the fact that I did not feel pressured into my purchase decision, but felt that Paul took the time needed, listened and answered all of my questions. I initially did a positive review on goggle, but it was based off of the politeness of the "sale" experience with Paul. I signed the contract on the job then cancelled before the 72 hour as I started to recall my 3 door install and my composite deck. Then I started to recall how much I paid for these projects and my experience of how much I have had to work to get AAPCO to take care of a problem "correctly"...the stress, headache, etc.. Then I wondered, why I have even bothered to go back to this company for more projects??? Because of my first positive experience, I have wanted to trust AAPCO, but now carefully recalling past experiences it will be determined. I will have to wait to see how AAPCO resolves my issues, especially the huge problem with my deck and whether all will be done correctly, professionally and in a timely manner. Only then could I ever recommend this company to anyone. So for now, I will give a 3 star overall rating.

Had one of my bathrooms fully remodeled and brought into the current century. Process was pretty easy and not as pushy as other companies. They offered me a fair estimate and did the work in a quick and professional manner. Any outstanding issues I had were immediately addressed and taken care of. Would definitely recommend
