We initially had our meeting at the Chesapeake location; however, all locations are owned by the same company with the same Buisness license.

I delayed writing this review because the experience was so upsetting, but I feel a responsibility to be honest for future customers.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Sunrise Kitchens Baths and Closets. It’s important to note that the majority of this company’s positive reviews are from previous ownership. Since the business was sold in September 2024, many of the employees referenced by name in those reviews are no longer with the company, which provides important context for prospective customers.

My kitchen project was plagued by serious issues from start to finish and ultimately dragged on for 13 months, despite being promised a fully functioning kitchen completed within a few weeks.

Despite being promised a “streamlined” and professionally managed project, that is not what I experienced. There was a clear lack of consistent project management throughout the renovation. Over the course of the project, I worked with at least five different individuals who were identified as managing my project, which is supported by written communication and documentation. For the majority of the project, no project manager came to my home to oversee work. Project management oversight did not occur until the final month, after DPOR became involved. Prior to that, subcontractors were frequently sent to my home without clear direction and often asked me what they were there to do.

Work was performed that was not included in my contract, and afterward I was demanded thousands of dollars for this non-contracted work. No clear or itemized breakdown was ever provided explaining what was done, why it was done, or why it was supposedly required. I never agreed to this work, never approved it through signed change orders, and never consented to the additional cost.

Despite this, the company refused to move forward or complete the project unless this unapproved payment was made, effectively holding the project hostage over charges I never agreed to. After two mediations, the company ultimately agreed that I did not owe payment for one of the change orders because the HVAC work in question should never have been done. That work involved replacing ductwork that had already been replaced earlier that year by another company and was still under warranty.

In addition, changes were made to cabinetry without my consent, again with no signed change orders. Additional HVAC work was completed without a permit and was not up to code. After personally contacting a city inspector, the company was required to redo the work and have it reinspected.

Documentation — including proof of purchase, warranties, and permits — was repeatedly requested and never fully provided.

Due to the seriousness of these issues, I filed a formal complaint with DPOR (Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation). Following their investigation, the company was found to be in violation of regulations.

What made this experience especially frustrating was the lack of transparency, poor communication, and unwillingness to fix mistakes. A kitchen renovation is a major financial and emotional investment, and this company did not treat it with the care or professionalism it deserves.

I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to look closely at the timing of the reviews, ask detailed questions, and ensure everything is clearly defined and signed in writing before proceeding.

*This project began through the Hampton office, but was handled by the ownership that manages all Sunrise locations (Glander Management). Materials were also shipped to the Virginia Beach site as part of my project. Given the shared ownership and involvement across locations, I am posting this review across sites.*

TLDR: DO NOT HIRE. Sunrise Kitchen and Bath left my house gutted for months with little to no work, knew early on there were cabinet issues, and took advantage of the fact that I was active-duty military and not local. I would not hire them again.

I’m active-duty military and stationed out of the area, so I rely heavily on contractors being honest and organized. This house is my planned retirement home, and I rent it out only to keep from losing money while I’m away. Sunrise was fully aware of this and how important timing was.

My remodel was supposed to start with demolition on July 7, 2025. Demo didn’t actually happen until July 17, and only after my house was torn apart did Sunrise tell me they didn’t have the cabinets they knew I wanted from the beginning. I later learned they were already aware in early as May that getting those cabinets would likely be an issue. Despite that, they repeatedly told me everything was “on track” right up until demo.

From there, my house sat in a gutted, unusable state for long stretches with little or no work being done. Weeks would go by with no progress while timelines kept changing. Because I needed the house rentable to avoid losing income, I felt pressured to keep moving forward.

To try to salvage the situation, I agreed on August 1 to switch to a different cabinet line. Even then, progress remained painfully slow. Cabinets weren’t installed until mid-October, and after that the project continued to drag on with long gaps between visits.

I paid the final balance on November 12 hoping that would finally get the job finished. It didn’t. The last time anyone from Sunrise was in my house was January 2, 2026.

What should have been a straightforward kitchen and bath remodel took about 169 days, much of it with my home sitting idle. As a service member trying to protect my future home and avoid unnecessary losses, this experience was incredibly frustrating. If you value transparency, planning, and basic follow-through, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I have attached different pictures of how my home sat for months on end, the mess/damage left behind, and the installed cabinets even had damage. I ended up having to pay my property manager around $500 to clean up after the project was complete due to the condition of my floors, walls, showers, and railings.

Great contractor, Easy to deal with and communicate with. Would highly recommend.

Kevin and his crew did a wonderful job repainting our home at Virginia Beach! Loved their work so much, we just had them back to replace a deck with a composite product. Once again, they knocked it out of the park!

We recently had a renovation of our porch. Kevin and his crew worked diligently to complete the project in a timely manner. They were punctual and neat, and the craftsmanship is first rate. I recommend this company and feel they are a trusted and honest partner in home renovations.

Kevin and his team have done several projects at my home including replacing my roof, Kevin is fair in pricing and knows the construction business. Kevin delivers a professional job. I will be using Kevin in the future and I feel good about referring KN Construction to my friends and neighbors.

Kevin and Troy took great care of my mom's house. They were reasonable and responsive. She needed work completed in order to get her house on the market and the guys came in on budget. She is going to use them again for her new home. Recommend!!

If you are looking for big jobs , all of the schools in this city pretty much need rebuilt and artificial grass installed and solar panels. Go and rebuild them I will pay you.
