Tyler and Rob, from Convert Solar, installed a Franklin battery backup system for our solar panels. They were knowledgeable, professional, and very patient with all our questions. The installation is well done and many have commented that the installation was professional grade and top of the line. These two professionals exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Tyler and Rob if you are looking to install a battery system for your solar.

Convert solar is top notch. I couldn’t be happier with all they did for me. My electric bill has dropped significantly and the work was perfect.

The experience with Convert Solar has been phenomenal from the start. I submitted a request for information online on a Sunday and got a call from Ashley the very next day to schedule a meeting. She was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. There was no pressure to make a sale.
After accepting their proposal, Isaac came out to do the site survey. He was professional and friendly. He thoroughly explained what he needed to do and what the next steps would be.
On install day, Patrick, Harley and one other (sorry, I did not get his name), came out first thing and got started. They were all three very friendly and professional. And within three hours of their arrival, my system was installed. Harley stayed back and showed me the new electrical connections and showed me how to set up and monitor the App for the status and production of my system.
Bottom line, if you’re looking to go solar, look no further than Convert Solar!

Convert Solar was fantastic to work with. After putting 50% deposit down and project work began, I was told during the initial engineering inspection that my roof would likely need to be replaced in just a few years. So many other solar companies would have pushed forward and put up the panels anyway. Convert had the integrity to give me an honest take, which allowed me to cancel the project within the contract allowance and get back my full deposit. When I had a new roof installed the following year, it was an easy decision to come back to Convert to restart the solar project. Dylan from Convert was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. The install was very smooth and I understood at all times the status of the project. In the end, the project finished nearly a month earlier than was originally estimated. The technology Convert uses is great and I can track all of the solar production easily in the Enphase app. I never have to worry if my investment is making a difference or not; the solar production and energy usage of my home is very easy to understand, so there are no surprises when I get my Dominion bill. I highly recommend using Convert Solar for your home.

We are now on our 2 year anniversary of our install by Convert Solar and the system has been great. Our purchase was started via the local co-op group. The sales process was low pressure and very informational. They walked us through our panel and component choices and we felt very comfortable with our end design. We could have installed more panels, but Convert was upfront about shading that would have significantly reduced efficiency over part of our roof. The panels are hitting exactly the production targets that were estimated. The install process was a single day, electrical connections were very well done, cleanup was thorough, and the system has run without a glitch ever since. Convert Solar is exactly what we were hoping to find in an installer.

I've had my 11.34kW 27 panel solar system for a little over a year and its been an almost perfect experience. The sales rep Ashley was great and was able to answer all my questions from install process, Net metering, SRECS, and much more with no Sales pressure. The company was even willing to match other offers from quotes I had anyway recieved. Installation day was great with the team arriving on time, finishing in around 5 hours, and telling me how to use the app and gateway.

Throughout the year there's been no panel issues and no leaking roof. the gateway stopped reporting to the app 4 times, but was able to fix pretty easily. Due to a tree being close to the house I had them install a squirrel guard around the panels which did accumulate leaves in under a few panels in the fall which I had to brush out.

The only issue I had was about 3 weeks ago my system stopped working and it took me 4 days of calling convert and showing up to their office frustrated to be finally be put on the maintenance schedule 3 days later. So they ultimately fixed the issue within a week (expected), but with some unnecessary effort on my part (not expected). Hopefully that was a one off situation but make sure you know exactly who to contact if you have any issues with the system.

Overall (aside from the issue above) I am happy with the systems performance and would still recommend this company if you are in the Hampton roads area. From price, knowledge, install timeline, warranty professionalism and support (once I showed up to their office) it's been a good experience.

One of the most prudent decisions I have made to date, my monthly electric bill was consistently around $700, a month with an anticipated increase in the upcoming year. I conducted thorough research to identify potential solutions and opted for solar energy due to the projected savings and incentives. Additionally, I capitalized on the backup battery option. To date, I have significantly decreased my monthly electric bill by 75% and maintained power during four power outages. This is a clear victory with no complaints and a satisfied customer with Convert Solar.

Our panels were installed by Convert Solar 12 months ago, and we’ve had clean and free energy production since then. We added a couple of Tesla backup batteries and we now sleep easy during blackouts: continuous power keeps the lights on, the fridge and freezer running and, because we live in the country, we can flush our toilets knowing that the septic pump is working! Convert Solar’s team explained the process and answered our all of our questions. The installation was fast and efficient, and we’ve had no issues. We’re very happy with our installation and highly recommend Convert Solar.

Highly recommend Convert Solar. The rep stayed in contact throughout the process and kept me updated all the way through to our notice to operate green light from the electric company. Very pleased with the whole process. The install guys were very professional and gave the panel install a seamless look and cleaned up the jobsite meticulously. Here's to cutting down the future electric bills!

We were connected to Convert through the Richmond Solarize program, and were among the many homeowners racing to install solar before the tax incentives were yanked by the current administration. Despite being COMPLETELY SLAMMED with business, everyone at Convert was conscientious, thorough, and kind. They worked super quickly but didn't cut any corners. They didn't push us to move any faster than we were comfortable with and were super transparent and honest. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

Really amazing experience with Convert Solar for our home solar install. Jeremy was a fact forward, low pressure salesman. Dan was a very professional and efficient project manager. Our site engineer was very professional and thorough. Lastly, our install team was absolutely amazing. I’ve never experienced a more professional team of craftsman. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

It is saving me money and I am able to sleep better at night knowing that I have significantly reduced my families carbon footprint at the same time.

Exceptional Experience from Start to Finish — Convert Solar Sets the Standard

Convert Solar truly delivers on its promise to provide the highest quality solar systems and customer experience. After speaking with over 12 different solar companies, I confidently chose Convert Solar—and one year later, I can honestly say it was the best decision I made.

They offered the best overall value, not just in price, but in quality, warranty, and professionalism. The installation was completed quickly, efficiently, and with impressive attention to detail. The entire team was professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of my home throughout the process.

Since installing solar, I have not paid an electric bill in over a year, and based on current electricity rates, my system is projected to pay for itself in approximately six years. On top of that, the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) provide additional income, further increasing our savings.

Our account representative, Ashley, was outstanding—helpful, informative, and always available to answer questions. She made the process easy to understand and completely stress-free.

What truly sets Convert Solar apart is their commitment to quality and long-term value. They use REC panels, backed by an industry-leading 25-year warranty that includes labor, which many companies do not offer. Combine that with Convert Solar’s longest company history in the area, and the peace of mind is unmatched.

One year in, we’ve had zero issues, and the system performs exactly as promised—for the best price and with exceptional service. I would highly recommend Convert Solar to anyone considering solar energy. -- Thank you Carrie & Mike

Multiple problems with my roof leaking. Never been the same since. I also have a neighbor down the road who has had the same issue from their install and other problems. In my opinion, these panels should never be installed on a roof unless you want to ruin the integrity of your shingles/rafters and possibly void your homeowners warranty!!

I have had solar panels now for about 6 years, and tickled to death with them. My power bills average $7.98 a month, plus with the solar energy credits that are bought from me, I wind up making money every month now. I just wish I had done it sooner. My installation of 42 panels only took a couple days. I will always be a fan of Solar Services. They are not paying me to say any of this.

In every aspect, my transactions with Solar Services have been perfect. The quality of the installations, the products, communication and personnel are all top notch. I highly recommend Solar Services Inc.

First of all, 1 star is 2 stars too generous, there needs to be a negative star rating. I just called their emergency number because my ac unit went completely dead. Its 89 degrees in my house right now(according to my indoor thermostats), and I have little kids and animals that live here. I called my home warranty group and they gave me a claim number and Solar Services number. I called and immediately was yelled at. He asked if I was another home warranty person and when I said yes, he yelled at me saying "Why do they keep doing this!" He then yelled at me to call my warranty company and tell them they are not taking anymore calls. And then proceeds to hang up. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. I would never consider this company, and suggest others don't as well. Even if they weren't going to accept the job, there are a lot more professional ways of handling the situation.

Many years ago my dad had Solar Services install a solar hot water system first, and then installed solar panels for the pool. I inherited it all and am very thrilled with the response and service I get from everyone at this company ... from the person who answers the phone to the one who schedules the job to the ones who fix the problems ... top notch all the way. They take the time to explain the system and tell me how to work with it. I am so glad Dad made this decision! Makes my life a lot easier. It is a challenge being a single woman dealing with contractors ... the key is finding someone you trust ... and then someone you trust who can get the job done. That is what I have found in Solar Services. :)

Excellent company. Have used them for multiple renewable energy projects (Solar Power, solar hot water, and solar pool heating). They’re extremely knowledgeable, reasonably priced, have exceptional install quality, and are just great to work with. Strongly recommend for any project.

When I bought my house a couple years ago, I inherited a solar pool heating system that was originally installed by Solar Services, Inc. This was my first house with a pool and needless to say, my first experience with a solar heating system for a pool! Solar Services has been nothing but supportive in my efforts to understand this system, and very patient and understanding with my many questions to keep it properly maintained. Each and every person I have spoken to on the phone has been extremely nice and genuinely interested in helping. They answer emails quickly and even took a call from me one day after their business hours! When it's time to replace this existing system, they will get my business. A true stand-out company when it comes to customer service.

We called Solar Services to come to our home to replace and update a solar thermal system that they originally installed for us in 2009 or 2010. They came the 3 hour drive to our home and were prompt and professional in starting and communicating with the job.
We expected a new solar thermal water heater with the work. They almost completed the installation when I asked the year on the label on the water heater tank. The label stated 2015. Solar Services was installing a 7 year old water heater (unused and warehoused) and professed that the water heater was new.
I spoke with Arthur on the phone about not wanting a 7 year old water heater because we are rehabbing our home to place it on the market to sell - it matters what year the water heater is manufactured. It matters because a potential home buyer or home inspector can only rely on the manufacture's label on the product.
We are currently waiting to see how Solar Services resolves this. We certainly hope that they will do the right thing.
** update 3/17/2022** My Husband called them and canceled all further relationships and dealings with this company. We do not have the confidence or trust in them. Sue, the company president agreed to separate from any obligations to us as well. Sue agreed that there would be no bill to us.
For those who are considering which company to chose for your solar work I can say that the technicians that came to our home were clean and prompt and left the area where they worked clean as well.
The lack of trust in the company for us was directly a result of the product they tried to represent as new which was in fact manufactured 7 years ago (and they didn't care because a six year warranty would be given once the 2015 product was installed, which is not transferable to new owners,) and also was a direct result of the extremely negative dialogue with the president of the company Sue the day the tank was supposed to be installed.
