We hired Classics two years ago for a full front and backyard landscaping project, and I’m writing this now with the benefit of some hindsight.

The investment was substantial, more than many people earn in a full year, so our expectations were reasonably high. The hardscaping, including a stone path and patio, was well outside our own skill set, and we’re glad we had professionals handle that portion.

Where things fell short was in the planting and bed work around the house and fence line. When it was finished, it just didn’t have the look of a professionally landscaped home, and in hindsight, it’s the kind of work we probably could have tackled ourselves for a fraction of the cost.

Two years out, a good number of the plants have died, and several stones on our front stoop have come loose enough to be a genuine tripping hazard. We reached out to the company hoping to work something out, and while we understood that warranties have limits, the response was pretty discouraging: slow to reply, and ultimately a polite version of “not our problem anymore.”

We just think anyone considering a large landscaping investment deserves to know what the full experience looked like for us.
