Now that my landscaping and fence has been in place for 9 months, the gates to the fence were improperly built and drag. Brandon attempted to fix one of the gates, but it’s clear that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He offered to come back again, but I never heard from him again. The bushes were arranged without any thought or planning, and now I need to rearrange them. Some of the (junky)bushes died or didn’t do grow/bloom through not fault of my own. He makes unsolicited promises that he doesn’t keep. At this point, I’d be glad to use someone else.

Brandon did an absolutely fantastic job in my backyard! It was pretty much a blank slate; he came over and he asked me what I wanted to do to it. I just said that I wanted a patio with a firepit and I didn’t know what else. He said that he would design a whole backyard for me, and the design was really great, but the result is absolutely amazing. Every time I walk by the window to the backyard, I have to stop and stare at it! It’s just about the prettiest backyard I’ve ever seen. Brandon does what he says he’s going to do, but he really exceed my expectations. He was reliable, a good communicator, and if I asked him to do add or do something, he not only did it, but he went beyond the task. He even hung my cafe lights! The cost was very reasonable as well. I’d hands down use him again on any other projects I plan to do. Brandon loves what he does and it really shows.

Brandon and his team went above my expectations in transforming my front yard into a beautifully functional space. Each day they maintained a clean work site, gave me regular updates on the project's progress, and made sure I was satisfied with the end result. Their professionalism made the entire experience a pleasure.

Brandon and his team are creative in design suggestions, thoughtful in their work and responsive to client needs. Based on detailed contracts, I have now hired Brandon for 3 jobs, including a complete reconstruction of my 50 x 25 ft raised bed vegetable garden, laying pavers and building steps to and from my hot tub and construction of a greenhouse. In all cases they met timelines at a reasonable cost, with no cost overruns. They are very courteous, always clean up at the end of the day and do a good job keeping me informed of progress and next steps. I highly recommend their services for all garden landscaping work.

With his extensive experience and knowledge of garden design, drainage issues and plant materials, Brandon was able to rejuvenate our yard. He moved overgrown plants, helped us choose new ones, and added rocks that really enhanced the garden design. His outstanding crew restored our mossy and uneven lawn, transformed our garden areas, cleaned our driveway and applied mulch. Both Brandon and the very skilled and agreeable Omar emphasized their commitment to making their customers happy. The impressive results of their work are worth every penny.

Brandon, Omar, and the crew did an outstanding job relandscaping both my front and back yards after they were torn up during construction. With fairly loose direction from my husband and I, Brandon was able to craft beautiful, usable yard space that we appreciate every day. The work included a complete redesign of the space, hardscaping, lawn installation, selection and installation of plants and trees, incorporation of an existing fountain, and irrigation. As we maintain our outdoor space and as it continues to evolve, we'll continue to rely on the professionalism, expertise, and hard work of Brandon and his crew.

We have been working with Brandon from Grote's Garden Design for nearly 3 years, during which time we have transformed the garden supplied with our new construction home into a tranquil oasis that attracts a variety of birds throughout the year.

The original garden had a number of issues that ranged from poor soil and drainage through to trees overgrown with ivy or poorly planted.

We wanted a garden that reminded us of the time we spent living in Asia, filled with colour and variety, and had a natural look. Brandon translated our ideas into a plan that set the foundation for the garden we have today.

Lawn was removed to make way for garden beds and a flagstone path in our backyard. French drains and catchments were installed that effectively improved drainage, while the existing water system was modified to suit the new garden design.

Trees were removed or relocated and various Japanese maples were planted in garden beds that received good quality soil. Existing plants were redeployed and joined by various ornamental grasses, firs and shrubs and dressed with generous amounts of mulch. All up Brandon and his crew took around 6 weeks to complete the first phase of the landscaping.

Brandon returned to help us add a Japanese-style gazebo to the garden, and over the course of the next 18 months we collaborated with Brandon to improve and extend the garden.

We really liked Brandon's ability to quickly understand the vision we had for our garden, his expansive plant knowledge, his expertise in identifying and correcting issues with a landscape, in addition to his enthusiasm and drive to deliver an outstanding result. We definitely recommend Grote's Garden Design for any landscape design and installation!

Grote's Garden Design has helped in reworking my landscaping after a major renovation, replanting plants into better locations, replacing struggling plants, and repairing the sprinkler system. It is still a work in progress, but I appreciate the attention to detail, proactive recommendations for my garden as it matures, and consistent timely responses to my inquiries and requests. Brandon is simply awesome! We went through 3 other landscaping companies, that all messed things up before Grote's Garden Design, fixed it all!!

They finally came with a solution that fixed our drainage, he cut down and pruned tree's to increase my light; he helped design the layout of the garden and helped me pick fabulous tree's and installed some amazing lighting that made all the difference!

TLDR; Brandon was amazing to work with. He was professional, on-time, and communicated through all aspects of the project. Highly knowledgable in all things landscaping. Will be hiring him for all my landscaping needs in the future.

Working with Brandon and his team was an easy and seamless process. Brandon came out to provide a quote and helped ideate on landscaping, lighting and fence ideas. He was incredibly knowledgeable in all aspects of the project and proactively communicated through all phases of the project. His payment structure/process was transparent and easy. I received several competing quotes and he provided the best value for the project. Once I secured a start date with downpayment we agreed on a project start date and THE PROJECT STARTED ON THAT DATE! and ended on the estimated date of completion as well. Working with Brandon on the design of my yard was great. When I asked questions he would explain the trade-offs of those requests both from a cost perspective and design perspective (how drainage would be affected by different options, etc). One thing I find particularly helpful to point out is that Brandon suggested adding lighting to the design and I originally thought it was a expense that I didn't want to shell out for. But I am SO GLAD I DID. The accent lighting at night the first time I saw it caught me off guard it looked so beautiful (it sounds cheesy but it did!). Get the accent lighting. Totally worth it.

We hired Brandon to do the full yard landscaping for our newly built custom home.Brandon did an excellent job and the end result was a beautiful garden. He has a great attention to detail and is a stickler for quality. The job was completed timely as well and we now have a piece of paradise to enjoy!

We selected Grotes Garden Design to landscape our front and back yard after building a DADU. We decided to work with Brandon and his team because he brought a thoughtful vision to our project. He had many ideas we ended up using. Other landscapers we talked with did not offer the same level of creativity and design experience.

The project included fencing, drainage, sprinkler/drip irrigation, paver patio and walkway, flower beds and lawn. We are extremely happy with the end result and enjoyed working with Brandon through the process of design and plant selection. We could tell Brandon brings a high level of passion to his projects and genuinely cares about his customers being happy with the end result. Since our project was completed Brandon has remained available to answer all our follow up questions.

I need to dispose 6 cubic yard of dirt in my backyard from a previous project. I chose Brandon's team instead of other bids because he is responsive, reasonably priced and has a great attention to details. For example, Brandon's team came out and noticed that I got new gravels installed in the pathway, he is thoughtful enough to put plywood along the way so the mini skid steer won't damage it.

His team has comprehensive knowledge from landscaping, hardscape and trees. They have a high standard and they go above and beyond to ensure the customer is taken care of. In my case, their team re-rake the gravel, put in new ones and level my yard after hauling away all the dirt. They also answer a few landscaping questions for my yard project along the way.

We hired Brandon and his crew to do an extensive front yard re-model. We took out a large cherry tree that was causing issues with our paver driveway and had numerous drainage and landscape challenges to our front yard. Brandon provided great advice and quoted a fair price for the work. The team was excellent, polite and very hard working (thanks David and crew). You guys exceeded our expectations with your work ethic, insistence on making sure we were satisfied and delivered an excellent result. Brandon's dog Kaya was also a great friend to our dog Murphy during the process.

Brandon has great vision for landscape design, he and his team proved highly competent and delivered as promised and in a very reasonable timeframe. Thank you for the excellent service. We are thrilled with the result.

These guys did an amazing job!!! We’d been wanting to redo our front lawn for a few years now and Brandon and his team are highly skilled in what they do! Brandon communicated with us throughout the entire process. It was very much a collaboration and while I had an initial vision for the space, he brought in his design and knowledge of plants and construction background to transform our front yard space into a haven beyond what I had even imagined. We’ve had several neighbors compliment the work and ask for their information. His entire team is so knowledgeable, hard working, and they all work efficiently together. They always cleaned up after themselves every day and left any equipment neatly placed in a corner. I appreciate that they were able to incorporate some existing pavers we had into the design as well. Brandon is incredibly thoughtful in the decisions he made for plant placement and design layout for not just the short term, but long term for how the plants will grow. He took into consideration the height and width of the plants as well as how the colors will play off each other for year round interest. He also identified a drainage issue we were experiencing after some heavy rains, which also explained issues we were experiencing prior to their work. They were able to quickly pivot and install a dry well around the perimeter of the grass. While we were initially concerned about the amount of rock used, in the end it looks great and will only get better as the plants mature and grow. He balances function and design and is truly and expert in his field while being incredibly down to earth. Thank you guys for our yard makeover!

Professional, prompt and does exactly what is promised. They’ve done work for me serval times. On one occasion I did a walkthrough of the work and it looked great. The next day they returned to touch up a spot they felt wasn’t quite right. The attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond is appreciated!
