Rutheo Designs is so great to work with! They installed a retaining wall to help flatten a space in my front yard for some raised vegetable garden beds complete with irrigation for a drip watering system and a cute little fence to go around the garden. They checked in at every stage to make sure the project was matching my vision and I'm so happy with my new vegetable garden!

Teddy and his crew did an amazing job resetting our backyard. They added an area with rubber tiles for working out and remade and extended an old, unusable brick patio. We are very happy with the results; it is now our little oasis.
The communication and customer service were excellent, definitely recommend for complex projects. -
Rutheo Designs gave us a beautiful and functional full landscape remodel. From design through installation, Teddy & Kay were wonderful collaborators…helping bring our vision to life with clear, consistent communication throughout the process. Every person we worked with was professional, creative, kind, and clearly passionate about their craft. Even our neighbors appreciated chatting with our install team…Lincoln, Andrew, Anthony, & Justin. We couldn’t be happier with the process or the result!

Laura and Grant did an amazing job with a much-needed pruning of many 30-year-old rhodies and other large bushes. They did what I had wanted to do for years and what I didn't have the skills, strength or courage to do myself. They were thoughtful, careful and checked in with me to see what I thought before going all in. At same time they were timely and stayed within our project scope. We're very happy with their workmanship and the full clean up afterwards. Highly recommend!!!

Teddy and the team at Rutheo Designs helped us plant a wonderful variety of native plants and trees in our large backyard, with the long-term goal of creating a “Woodland Oasis.” We had a vision, but not the technical knowledge, and Teddy listened thoughtfully before offering a beautiful design concept and thoughtful plant selections. I appreciated his collaborative approach throughout the entire process—honoring some of my favorite trees and sharing friendly, accessible eco-education along the way. I’m already looking forward to the next opportunity to work with the Rutheo Designs team!

I can't say enough great things about Rutheo Designs! I own a small preschool (Little Woods Preschool) and wanted to transform the simple grass lawn into an interactive playscape. I was so happy to find a company like Rutheo who care about sustainability, outdoor education and environmentally friendly practices.
Rutheo turned the plain yard into a complete learning wonderland! From start to finish on my (BIG) project, Rutheo brought creativity, an eye for detail and top notch craftsmanship. They communicated along the way to get my feedback, preferences and keep an eye on our timeline. They were mindful of my budget and managed the whole project with ease.
They created & custom built so many special features in our playground; a mud kitchen & dining set, garden beds, play house, wheels pathway, climbing structure, music wall, sensory path, bench, covered learning pavilion, composting system, and over 25 PNW native plants for children to explore, even edible berries.
Additionally, they worked with state licensing to ensure compliance with the many regulations, above and beyond what I would have expected. Their team is kind and professional and work hard.
It's a stunning space and exceeded all my expectations. Pictures only capture so much, it's even more magical in person! We can't wait to play, dig and explore each season in our new, natural playground! -
We had a great experience working with Rutheo Designs LLC. From day one, Teddy was warm, professional, and immediately understood our vision. Marisa was incredibly responsive and patient as we worked through design changes. Scheduling was quick, pricing stayed within budget, and the whole process felt seamless. You can tell these folks truly care about their customers and the environment; working with the Rutheo team never felt like a “bottom line” business transaction. I also appreciated the follow-up communication with respect to plant care and maintenance. Highly recommend!

I found them excellent to work with beginning to end. Everyone was knowledgeable, pleasant and worked hard. The design work with Marisa was professional and fun. She knew her plants! The men on the job went beyond the call of duty to please me. I am very happy.

Complete backyard remodel went great.

It's nice when a company tells you their services aren't needed. I had them come out to see whether I needed a retaining wall. Of course they'd be happy to do it if I wanted them to, but it wasn't necessary. Thank you David Baxter (Baxter)!

We all know that you usually get what you pay for in life (most of the time). It's the same thing with landscape design & work. You pay a cheaper price, you get a lesser quality.
Pacifica Landscapes is a little more affordable than others in the area. But soon enough I learned that I would have to pay for my mistake.
I could easily name a few items that were placed in the wrong area, even as a housewife...
And communication with them has been like pulling teeth. So I ended up just giving up on them, which is what they wanted anyway. I shall learn my lesson! -
I would give zero star if I could. They made me wait one month just to get the initial estimate appointment. Day before the appointment, I get an email to confirm the appointment, I do. Next day, I took off of my work and I drove 40 mins to the property where the work is supposed to be performed. Kept waiting for 15 mins post our appointment time. Received a message from the consultant, that they don’t do that kind of work and that they won’t be coming.
Seriously? What was the point of scheduling appointment and reminding the appointment? This was most ridiculous experience I’ve had. Wasted a full month and a long drive for me. -
We had a great experience with Pacifica and we are very pleased with the outcome of our project. We would recommend Pacifica to others who are looking for quality work at a fair price. We would hire this company again for large or small landscaping projects.

Working with this company was a total nightmare. It actually turned out so badly that we paid another company almost $10,000 ($30,000 project) to redo the plants and grading. The drip line still doesn't work. Not sure why. We couldn't test it at the time because the project was completed on Christmas Eve when it was scheduled for July. They were clearly overbooked and this project got no attention. No one was passionate. I have since found several amazing companies, beware of this one.
Worth noting, initial spitball estimate was <$15,000. We paid $1000 for the design and it came back at $25k. So don't get snagged there thinking you've found a good deal.
The design wasn't to scale which was part of the problem. It was also just a simple aerial so captured no depth or nuance. They used plant icons that quadrupled the size of plants, so once it was installed, it looked ridiculous. A sword Fern never gets 8 feet wide. So it's not like they designed as if plants were mature. Honestly it was like a scam. -
Started working with Pacifica around 5 months ago. They gave me the initial consultation very quickly, and Baxter seemed like a nice guy so I went ahead and put down the deposit. Once that happened though communication has been terrible. Took another 2 months to get an initial design. We had a couple changes we wanted to make and have been waiting another 2 months for the revised version. I leave messages almost weekly and never hear anything back.
UPDATE: Baxter did reach out and apologize, seems they had a change of staff that put them behind schedule. Things seem to progressing more smoothly now. -
Dennis was an extremely nice and pleasant person to work with. Both on the sale and most importantly on his delivery of my project. The work was done well and the price was fair. If you want a great balance of price/value, I definitely recommend this team. The job they did on my lot was a grading of yard followed by soil delivery, spread, and grass seeding. They even added some gravel delivery and spreading to my project since I had a deck built after the original project was scoped. They were very flexible on this change.

The Pacifica Landscapes crew has completed two projects at my home. First was a large patio of paving stones to replace a portion of the lawn and some old concrete walkways. Second was replacement of the back lawn. The work on both was well done, and both crews were skilled and able to tackle the work professionally and quickly. We'll certainly have them back for the next improvement we make. That fence is looking a bit rickety...

Baxter and team completely revamped our yard last summer. They are nothing short of incredible. We did a complete overhaul of our yard, taking it down to dirt. The plan was beautiful and it has taken complete form. We have started to see late Spring bring the plants to life and their growth is beautiful. Our plan consisted of design hardscapes, trellis, sod, natural shrubbery, a massive laurel , and two levels of fence. We live in Wallingford and wanted our yard to blend into our surroundings while staying true to our aesthetic. They found the perfect balance. Baxter is dedicated to the project and will see it through completion. It is now typical for passerby’s to stop and ask who landscaped our yard- Baxter ears must be burning for the praise I sing. Hands down the best experience I have had yet with a large scale improvement project.

Wonderful transformation of our old, outdated aggregate patio area into an inviting, updated, beautifully landscaped space to enjoy for years to come. The landscaping installation crew - Angel, Dennis, and Jorge - were great! Very conscientious, hard working, thorough, pleasant and always left the work site clean and tidy at the end of the day. Can't say enough good things about them. Also very pleased with the design process with Baxter and James. They were thoughtful in their design ideas, responsive to our input, and in addition came up with a very attractive solution to another area of our yard that had a water feature that no longer worked.

Pacifica Landscapes helped turn our underused backyard in an oasis of tranquility and a place that my family loves to hang out in and enjoy. We've received so many wonderful comments from our neighbors and I'm so happy we chose them to work with. We highly recommend.

If I could give a score less than zero I would. David Baxter came out to the house and provided an estimate which was based on a retainer for design. I was like ok these guys seems legit so signed the contract. Once signed and the money cleared Baxter informs me that the first design consultation will be in 13 weeks. Ok that wasn’t on the fine print or said verbally. Anyway designs come through at least 16 weeks later and IMO they are average at best so we do a rounds of edits. Finally we lock on a design and I say to Baxter - ok when can you fit me in - he provides a timeline of next earliest availability - 6-7 months later. I gave up. They cashed my retainer and I never heard from them again. My watch out for others is to ensure you have an in writing commitment to all aspects regarding dates and timing as they are not transparent on that front.
