Gage was a very hard working, maintained my lawn and beds. Urban roots is definitely the company to go!

Today, Gage performed weed eating, edging and flower bed maintenance in our yard. He is respectful of property, considerate, efficient, intuitive, thorough, communicative and has a natural knack for detail. Gage was receptive to input and required no direction. Plus, our Cattle Dog likes him, so he’s approved by this home!

We are Urban Roots customers. Today Nathan and Gage came to our home. They both took extra time and care and did a wonderful job! We are very pleased!

They have good reviews so that’s we really wanted to go through them but we had to cancel part of the work we were wanting. Between the estimator, scheduler and the people that come out to the house to do the work there was a lot of misunderstanding and communication not lining up. They showed up two days later then they said did part of the work we had planned said they would come back almost a month later to do clean up but we wanted our garden bed cleaned up first because our plants were dying at this rate so we couldn’t wait that long. We had another landscaper come look at our property said we over payed for the part of work they partly did but it was done incorrectly so not only did this other company come and do all the work we wonted in a day they did it at half the price!

I had Nathan Boss at my yard and it was done amazingly the crew was super respectful and got everything I asked done

Edit: I was followed up with by the team at Urban Roots and they were very professional. Ended up still going with them and pleased with their service and attentiveness.

I read really good reviews on this company and was looking forward to utilizing them for my yard remodel. Someone came out and assessed my project. I was told my quote would come back in 48 hrs and it’s been almost 2 weeks and still no response. I’ve tried calling multiple times and left messages and the only response I can get is that it will be coming soon. Disappointed in the customer service and communication.

Gage from Lakewood did a great job fixing up our backyard! He did great! Clean the back of our bushes and shaped up our bushes!

I'm unfortunately very disappointed and have gotten the run around multiple times despite wanting to fix things with the business directly.

TLDR: Delays in the booking/quote process, finally got booked - crew missed 1/3 of the yard. Called and they came back the next day and rushed the job and missed areas entirely, including an area I sent pictures of to the business. Weed whacked a large area that should have been pulled. Said they'd come Friday, didn't. Said they'd come Monday morning, now allegedly coming this afternoon (I followed up, they never updated on their own)...almost a week later and job is still incomplete, but they did find the time to send me an invoice despite not picking up the phone or showing up. Insanely unprofessional.

Hire Martinez Brothers or Alvin's. Never had issues.

Long version:

In late May, I reached out via Yelp and heard back quickly and was told I'd get a drive by estimate. I followed up the next week a couple times and was apologized to for the delay (I understand) but then another day or two went by with no update. I called the office and it turns out my estimate was sent to the wrong office so no one was en route days after it should have been completed. Another apology and a bit later, I did get my estimate. It took ~a week later than it should have but I figured as long as the work looked good, it may have just been one-off mishandling.

I get my estimate, pay, and as of today, my clean-up date arrives. It looks so bad. One side of my yard looks good from far away but once you get close, you realize there's a number of weeds left including all of the weeds in one of the rock areas. On the other side of my yard, tons of weeds left. Tons. I looked around thinking that surely they must be coming back but hours later and a request to leave a review later, I'm realizing this may have been the intended full job? I'm incredibly saddened my yard is still filled with weeds.

I called and texted, they said they'd come back the next morning and do more although they rushed and still missed multiple patches of weeds (not surprisingly in the easy to see but harder labor areas). They offer to get the rest the next day if needed. I send pictures, request for them to do do. They don't show up or answer for some time. They offer to come Monday morning. I follow up (no surprise they didn't take initiative) and now I'm being told afternoon. Almost a week later and oh did they find the time to charge me in full but not pick up the phone or finish the job.

I've hired Alvin's Landscaping and Martinez Brother and was always amazed by their work so all the weeds left are just such a bummer, I've never experienced this before with a landscaping company.

Brian and Marcos did a great job trimming my ivy hedge and trimming other plants in my yard. They were fast, efficient and very professional. Would use this company again.

My lawn looks amazing!!!!! Hasn’t been cut in a while, but gage did a really good job. He got in every corner. By far, the best company I’ve used and I will keep using urban roots Landscaping!!

Just recently hired this company to remove some overgrown shrubbery. One of the owners came out to the site and discussed what I was thinking, shared his expertise, and then gave me a couple of options to consider at various price points. I appreciated this kind of collaboration in making the final decision. Scheduling was easy and when I called to check on the arrival time I didn’t get an answering machine; the phone was promptly answered by a knowledgeable person that was able to quickly give me the answers. It was an all around good experience, but the best I save to last and that is the quality of work and clean-up done by the two people doing the physical labor, David and Marcos. They not only were skilled at what they were doing, but they also answered my questions during the removal process and were respectful of the property and remaining plantings while doing their work. The price was reasonable for the work that was done. Good isn’t cheap, and cheap isn’t good, but I felt that it was a fair value for the quality of work that was performed and the high level of service.

GAGE!! He’s the best. Young kid so I was skeptical at first but man did he do an amazing job! Had the bush/hedges trimmed with some over grown sticker bushes and he made my yard look amazing! I’m very happy with his work. Hope he services my yard every time!

We hired them to do some pretty basic landscaping and yard mowing, however I asked them twice (in person, and again confirming via email) if they could send me the before and after photos because we had moved out of the property. They confirmed in person and via email that they will, and that they usually do anyways.

After the job was done, I didn't hear from them, so I reached out via email and asked if they would provide the photos so I could confirm the job was done, and never heard back.

I assume they did the job but honestly, I can't even confirm because no one ever contacted me with the photos unfortunately.

Quick, friendly, great value. These guys know what they’re doing and do it very well. Moved into our house thinking we could tackle the years over grown yard but realized we needed help to tame the beast. I couldn’t be happier with our service. They really take the time to hear exactly what you want from the yard (even when you’re not exactly sure like in my case). Someone came out in one days time for a estimate and made me feel very comfortable with a larger purchase like this I otherwise have little experience in. Thanks urban roots!

We had Urban Roots come do a very much needed fall cleanup, and now our flower beds and yard looks amazing. There were so many fallen damp leaves, overgrown foliage and weeds. Marcos and Nathan did a great job and were very friendly, efficient and professional. We will continue to use Urban Roots in the future!

Could not be happier with the end results of Urban Roots transforming our backyard into an urban oasis at a really affordable cost! We had an over grown, unruly landscaping. The lawn was very uneven, the plants were growing awkwardly. Dylan, the owner, created a wonderful and intentional plan with our yard. Charly, Blady, Colin and Seth did an outstanding job and were extremely professional in executing the plan. What a hard working bunch, we won't go anywhere else for our landscaping needs! Blady and Ivan did a great job. We contracted Urban Roots to weed and spray some overgrown areas of our yard and they did a great job.

I was a bit disappointed with communication leading up to the actual work- I didn’t have an arrival window or even 100% confirmation of service until 15-30 minutes before the crew arrived. But I’m still leaving 5 stars because Blady and Ivan did a great job once they got here.

Do not hire them!!! They will destroy and remove flowers, harm Japanese maple, leave dead shrubs, and do the bare minimum with mulch, so that 2 wks later it looks like you didn’t even do a clean up!

Used Urban Roots last year for yard clean up and was very happy with the work. This year has been such a headache: from difficulties with follow through on getting the estimate (took over a month and a reminder from me) to the pulling up of planted flowers, butchering of my Japanese maples (I only had requested hedges be trimmed), tons of weeds and blackberries still present after, and only a dusting of mulch which did not even suppress weeds for a week, it’s been such a headache dealing with them. 0/10 do not recommend using them!

They did come back to “finish the job” but it’s been like pulling teeth to get them on site and then took most of the day to “get bark” which they were aware of the need prior to coming today. Please spend some money on improving training and standards for your team. Y’all charge enough!

Update: even with the 3/4” extra mulch the front yard was not weeded adequately and 2 weeks later weeds are heavily growing back through the mulch.

In response to owner: urban roots me $160 off to replace the flowers that were wrongly removed. The job was over $1600, so this alleged “discount” came out to less than 10% off. Mike the operations manager said it was for the cost of the flowers not compensating for the headaches I’ve had from hiring urban roots

But then yall sent invoices that didn’t have the charges correct and took over a week to charge my card which was confusing when I received an invoice earlier that things have been paid.

Also no walk through was done or even attempted by your team despite me reaching out to your field manager about being unhappy. I’ve had to spend over 20 hours of my time a correcting things that weren’t done or that damaged my garden and I have another 20+ hours of work still, in addition to paying another landscaping company to help me.

This was such a drastically different experience from last year when it was excellent work and I felt worth the money spent. You & your team obviously don’t care about the quality of work any longer bc despite communicating my dissatisfaction to the field manager and Michael, no one besides workers has ever come by to see what is going on and seeing how things were not up to standard. I feel like I have not just wasted a significant amount of money by using your services but your team have wasted a significant amount of my time and energy. I’m so dissatisfied that I’m considering contacting my credit card company bc the goods promised were not the goods delivered.

I’m incredibly happy I used Urban Roots! Start to finish, it has been an easy (and fun) process. I was able to get a bid (from Dylan) for my project quickly, they referred an awesome plant expert (Kale) and about 2 weeks after the bid - the install began. They (Blady & Marco) were here on time each day, they were very nice & easy to communicate with, they worked extremely hard and finished my 5-day project in 4 days. They also adjusted a few things on-the-fly for me seamlessly. I thought the price for 5-days of labor-intensive work would be >$15k and it was well under that for me. I have nothing but positive things to say about this company and the experience I had with them!
