As a homeowner for 30 years in Tucson, AZ, I believe Tom Chartrand is the professional you have always hoped to work with. This I/we discovered as we experienced the gutting and remodeling of our 30 year old, very large master bathroom. Out went the huge dated Florida tub and separate shower room and in went new flooring, cabinets, and a stunning partially glass-enclosed walk-in shower which reveals tiling accented with beautiful tiles which are carried over into the former shower/toilet room. Also included were two new wider doors as well as a wider pocket door.

On many occasions, my wife Sue and I (Inventia Design) worked as fabricators (we did built-in and freestanding furniture, and furniture modifications) under Tom’s leadership as a general contractor in Portland, Oregon. In spite of all my experience as a custom furniture builder, Tom taught me how to do things that I had never done before. Tom’s leadership enabled me to successfully go outside of my areas of expertise and grow as a craftsman. His strong design sense and decision-making ability allowed me to focus on what I do best. When Tom comes to me with a plan to build something, as an expert fabricator I find that this smooths the path to great results, making the process time/cost-efficient and straightforward, rather than ambiguous. This yields consistently superior results for everyone, especially Tom’s clients.

I’ve been lucky to have Tom remodel my last two homes, both Craftsman bungalows from the 1920’s. It’s hard to say what I liked best about working with Tom….He’s the consummate Professional. He listens to your ideas and helps you bring them to fruition while not losing site of the Timeline and Budget. I wanted someone who would remodel my homes with the same quality craftsmanship with which the homes were built and Tom delivered.

The first project Tom worked on with me was a Kitchen remodel, that another Contractor had started and never completed. With Tom and his crew on the job I ended up with a gorgeous kitchen … Custom cabinetry and soapstone countertops, which were the perfect showcase for my restored vintage O’Keefe and Merritt stove and Drainboard sink. I was so pleased with the finished project that I hired Tom to add a 1/2 bath on the main floor and a patio off the kitchen. I sold the home and purchased another Bungalow, which required an extensive remodel. With the new home I didn’t bother to interview other Contractors for the project. I knew I would have to touch every room in this house and Tom was on board to help me bring my vision to fruition. The end result surpassed my dream, especially the bathroom. Tom did an incredible marble mosaic floor, hand setting the tiles in a custom pattern he designed.

I highly recommend Tom to anyone who wants exquisite quality craftsmanship. It’s why I’ve hired him for my last two homes and would hire him again without question.

My partner Rick and I strongly recommend Tom Chartrand to anyone needing renovation work done in their home. Immediately before the renovation project of our newly purchased home, we hired Tom to do the house inspection required here in Portland. His written report was complete and he discussed it in full detail with us. With that brief experience working with him, we felt confident hiring him to do the renovation. We wanted the following done in the house before moving in: major renovations in both bathrooms; a totally renovated kitchen (granite counters, tile backsplash, new appliances and lighting, and refinished cabinetry); and new hardwood floors throughout. Tom worked with us in formulating our ideas, budget and schedule. For whatever Tom didn’t do himself, he took responsibility for hiring sub-contractors and for managing their work. All the work was of high quality. Tom kept within our budget and we were able to move in by the date targeted. Throughout the course of the project, he was readily available to us for any questions or concerns we had. And he was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. When Tom left Portland after the project’s completion, it was our loss and Tucson’s gain.

Tom is a top-notch contractor. He embodies professionalism, great craftsmanship, strong work ethic, an artists eye, and all around fantastic person. Tom has completed 3 jobs for us in Portland, OR. The first job consisted of a complete bathroom tear out and remodel. This bathroom is amazing! Everyone that comes into the bathroom remarks on how nice it is and how well designed. Tom worked with us and gave input when we weren’t sure how we wanted something designed and was always helpful about explaining the details of the work. The second job Tom did for us included the removal of an exterior window and replaced it with a beautiful sliding door, this is a good segue into the third job. He built us a fabulous deck that comes off of the new sliding door. Tom was instrumental in the design and final draft of the deck. This addition basically adds an entire living space to our house during the summer and we love it and have hosted many parties on it. Before we found Tom we had interviewed three other contractors but when we saw how nice his craftsmanship was and how knowledgeable he is, we knew we had to go with him and are very happy we did. Also, he’s great with animals. We have a high-strung dog and Tom would come and work while we were gone and our dog ended up really liking him. You can’t go wrong hiring Tom. I know other reviewers said this but it's true, Tucson is lucky to have TC Contracting!

AZ Construction & Renovation installed 200+ ft of baseboards in my house. Best value and service for home projects. They were very reasonably priced and the work was excellent. I will definitely hire them for my other construction needs!

AZ Construction & Renovation had great pricing and was very responsive. The tile installers Derek and Uber were very punctual and amazing installers. I couldn't have asked for a better crew and they finished early. In summary we couldn't be more happy.

In July 2020, I bought a 1 bedroom condo in Tuscon, Arizona near my son and his family. During the coronavirus pandemic, it became clear that my son needed my help with homeschooling. Living in Florida, I was hesitant about hiring a contractor by phone but the knowledgeable conversation with Steve put me at ease. I knew from my experiences that the condo was going to have problems during the renovation. The visible holes in the bathroom tiles and condition of the floors during my FaceTime walkthrough with the real estate agent showed the superficial issues. The inspection report brought corrosion of heating and cooling system and a need for a new electrical box. I knew at that point that the previous owner had done no maintenance. The kitchen cabinets were in great shape and the appliances were good. What really impressed me about the business was the initial estimate. This initial estimate was typed, separated into sections, and extremely detailed. Steve explained each section and step of the estimate including parts and price. In over 40 years of owning homes and condos, as well as involved with friends planning, I have never seen such a thorough, detailed estimate. During the project, we communicated by email and each email was just as detailed as comprehensive as the original estimate. The phone calls were also clear and consideration. I had the ability to ask questions at any time and they were answered completely in terms that we understandable. The computer color-matching program that Steve used for the paint colors made it so easy to find the exact colors that would look great with the bath vanity and tiles. I know have my dream bathroom with the walk-in shower, totally modern. My bedroom has my pink statement wall that matches the floor and the grey paint on the other 3 walls. Plus, the blue wall in the kitchen brings out the pattern in the backsplash. All the employees and subcontractors worked well. While my project took longer than expected due to the issues that we found as we got further in the demolition, the renovation aspects all went smoothly with exceptional communication and professional. Both Steve and Jeffrey have a fine attention to detail and make sure that the customer is completely happy with the finished product. I will be happy to use this company on another project. I highly recommend this company.

We are so thankful for AZ Construction & Renovation. The wood look ceramic tile they installed in our home looks amazing! Everyone we dealt with from management on down was very professional, friendly, helpful and hardworking! We were on a very tight time table to get the work completed. They were willing to work with us and they really came through! Erik was a rockstar - very talented in the craft of tile installation and dedicated to doing things right the first time - all while keeping to the timeline we agreed on - even if meant staying late. There were a few small bumps in the road that naturally come along with the nature of construction work, but Jeff bent over backwards to make sure everything was taken care of and that we were happy. We really can't say enough about how satisfied we are. We are looking to have some more work done next year and won't consider anyone else.

Excellent service and affordable price! They converted my third car garage to a living room and we are very satisfied with their workmanship and professionalism. Steve and Jeff helped us in every steps by going above and beyond to meet our requirements. I hired them because the price was right but now I can say the job was done right too. AZ Construct provides a very personable option for home renovation. Jeff & Steve are kind, knowledgeable, and offered good recommendations on best practices & modern construction standards. At all points they were firm in doing the job the right way. Their crew (special thanks to Mario, Aaron, Marcos, Concepción, and David), were as talented and respectful as they come. I enjoyed having them all around, and they truly cared about the end product. My home is now transformed thanks to these collective efforts. AZ Construct is a lean operation (no administrative staff) which means great value with a bit of a start-up feel. I recommend their services.

UPDATE: Not long after posting this, I received a call from the general manager of the company who was very polite and advised me that the person in their truck was NOT one of their employees, but a mechanic from the company that repairs their vehicles. Their GM was very unhappy to hear what occurred and will be following up with the vehicle repair company, and will let me know the result. He was very polite and concerned. I wanted to make sure that anyone reading this is aware that the incident is being appropriately handled by the company. I do not wish AZ Construction and Renovation to bear the blame for something done by a non-employee.
An AZ Construction and Renovation truck was parked in a residential permit required zone at 12:45 pm on Sunday, 10/22/2023. I tapped lightly on the window with my car key. The driver made made a gesture of waving me away. I tapped harder with the key. The male driver - who looked pretty big - was very nasty and aggressive, yelled at me for touching his car (I hadn't), was very angry and rude, ordering me to go away and get back in my car. I don't know who he was, but if that's the kind of person the company employs, they'll never get my business, and I will advise everyone I know not to use them. I am now concerned that this irrational behavior will result in retaliation.

This company did a wonderful job reconstructing my home after a sewer backup. They repaired all the damage that was created after the backup. They did it well and they were very punctual. I wish I had used them several years ago on the remodel instead of the guy I chose. I highly would recommend AZ Construction & Renovation LLC for all your home construction needs.
