For 6 months I have attempting to have a few solar panels removed for construction and then put back on when addition is complete. I was passed around between sunpower and sunsolar for months. Dec. I was given a quote and responded that day to schedule immediately. Again months of calling not one person has called back. I have called several time only to hear the same thing. We will get back to you.
A week ago customer service said I needed to pay full amount (quote said 1/2 now 1/2 when complete)
Though I didn't argue I needed this done ASAP. So I paid. I was told a scheduler would call me back that day...again nope! So 4 days later because of weekend..I called again. Again I get the run around assuring me it was put in priority. I am to the point of chasing down sales agents in the field. I have filed review on the BBB. They are holding up construction for my 80+ year old 100% disable Vietnam Vet that has no room for a hospital bed until build is complete. Which is hijacked by solar panels.

The installation process has been a never-ending nightmare. Going to have to take them to court to recover the damages to my home. Almost every day I am spending more time and money as a result of the contractor they hired to do the MSP upgrade. If you live in a older home, I strongly recommend you find someone to do this yourself before the pre inspection.

Understand this before entering into a contract with SunPower: once you’re locked in, no matter how many times your unit fails, no matter how many times technicians come out to assess, diagnose, and fix the problem, there’s no getting out of the contract.

If you’re buying a home that has SunPower panels, you are bound to the terms that the original lessor signed, no matter how old the panels and unit are (there is a chart indicating diminished efficiency over time). This means they will not renegotiate a rate with you despite a 2-3% reduction in solar watts. The only option is to buy the unit outright.

I speak from experience in both matters. Overall the unit has saved me some money each year but has been faulty (it completely quit working two summers ago and, after numerous technician appointments which time and time again did not fix the unit, their answer was to compensate me at a fraction of what I lost due to no longer being on grid). At that time I was renting the home.

Now I am purchasing the home outright and am requesting to renegotiate the terms of the contract signed by the previous owner. So far, no luck in receiving a response other than “we cannot change the contract signed by the previous homeowner”.

Hopefully there is a reasonable conclusion to this other than “your loss sucker” from SunPower. I will update this review and rating depending on results.

Our experience with sun solar went very well. They communicated what was happening every step of the way and in a timely manner. The whole staff, whether a phone call or in person, were very friendly. We are very happy with our overall experience and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking into solar!

I have waited two years to post an accurate review for my solar panels. The first year, my true up bill was $55. The second year, it was -11. I believe that my solar panels will continue to prove themselves as a great investment. I am glad all my research for a reliable solar panel company paid off. I will be recommending Sunpower by Sunsolar to those looking for quality solar panels.

My wife and I recently purchased a solar system with Mike May at Sun Solar and are very pleased with the whole process. If you’re looking for Solar, you should look somewhere else. Sunpower was forced on us when we had the house built. The solar system worked great until it didn’t. Once you discover you have a problem (you will have to discover it because they don’t have any idea what your system is doing), you will go on a long frustrating journey in getting it fixed. The only thing the person on the phone can do is reset your breakers and tell you that you need a service call. They contracted someone that was over 120 miles away to come fix it and that contractor never called me, I had to call them. The guy showed up and said our 3 year old system was out of date and left. After several calls I was informed that a part has been ordered. That was a month ago. My system is still not fixed with now idea when it will be fixed. My advise is to stay clear of Sunpower if you can

Heard about sun solar through a friend and worked with Drew to get my grandparents solar. The whole process was so easy and smooth he was very knowledgeable and answered all questions we had. He made us feel very comfortable and worked with us to get what we desired. All our needs were met and they kept us notified through the whole process. We felt very welcome and were treated extremely well. I would definitely recommend sun solar for all your solar needs.

Hired this company to install solar panels on our home back in 2015. Best bid. They came and installed the system got connected to the grid and running. When the installation crew left, there was no trash or destroyed landscaping. It was like they were never there except now the house had solar panels. Came back a few years later and added a couple more of panels. Later even upgraded to a battery storage unit. Came back again and put another battery in. Outstanding customer service and technical support. I haven't paid for anything beyond the PG&E connection fee since 2015. I also get money paid back from the Utilty every year. Some of the best money I ever spent. No real noticeable degradation in the power output. I can run the house at night without any of PG&E's electricity. SunPower made it easy, and still does. Cannot recommend more highly.

This company has the best Solar System’s in the business. The best solar panels also. I have referred a lot of my friends and they are saving money. The crews are very professional and get the job done right. They also do sun vault batteries . If you’re thinking about solar , this is the company to use .

Field personnel did a good job. Office personnel were terrible. They messed up the permit, charged me for a battery that they didn't install until we pressed, wouldn't replace damaged panels, didn't return phone calls or emails. Notified the finance company that the project was complete when it wasn't. Refused to help me file for the PG&E rebate on the batteries. Overall a horrible experience. Would not recommend this company.

Unfortunately, SunPower has made me hate solar. Their representatives do not return calls, texts, or emails. We have two houses on one property and got solar for both. They built the system way too big for one house, and way too small for the other. We owe $1,900 to the electric company due to the system being built too small and incorrectly. We leased the system which is supposed to be monitored by SunPower, but my system went 2 months without being on when they came out a couple months ago. They forgot to turn it back on and so I haven’t been producing solar for 2 months now and still waiting for them to turn it back on. Mahlon originally set up our system and is no longer with the company. Go figure. Geoff is virtually no help and agreed that the system was made incorrectly and that the only way to fix it is to buy more panels. What a joke.

Sales staff was generally good, but sent wrong contract or outdated information several times. The installation was great. Update: they upgraded monitoring app to show individual panel outputs. This increases .y confidence that I can self monitor the system. They do not monitor systems o matter what they claim. System wasn't reporting for 3 months. They didn't detect it at all. Had to ask multiple times about home monitoring of individual panels, they finally added it but did have to ask. Response to interruption of monitoring system was about 3 weeks after requestt. Monitoring system needs ability to send notification of failures. Increased rating from 2 to 4- based on improved self monitoring app.

my solar purchase and installation was an excellent experience. i have a clay tile roof and the area where the solar panels were installed was replaced with red asphalt shingles. the interaction with Sun Solar's roofing contractor went well and roof replacement looks perfect. the solar install crew was on time, tidy, respectful and did an excellent job. after the system was installed a tech helped me set-up the app and showed me how to use it. overall i'm very happy with the service and installation of my new solar system.

Every part of the experience was good except for how long it took from the agreement to the install. They were just too busy with customers in front of me. Other than that, they were on time, took care of a breaker swap, and cleaned up after each visit. The crews sent out to my house from start to finish were perfect.

I originally called to tell them they had a driver blowing red lights and cutting people off, but I truly was interested in solar. I have 2 EVs and a 5 bed house. Made an appointment. They also had me send in 12 months worth of my electric bills only to have their rep be a no show. If this is how their company runs, their employees driving with a complete disregard to life and then skipping out on the appointment I dodged a bullet. PS if you try to claim I didn’t have an appointment with you guys I’ll post the communication on here through the emails. Don’t try me.

I recommend Sun Power to my friend, family, and neighbors. They have a great process, people, and install was smooth. Bobby Blackmon of Sun Power made sure we had all the panels and back up batteries we needed to ensure no power bill. We have had our solar for a couple of years now and are still satisfied with our purchase. We are extremely happy with Sun Power!

Horrible customer service and horrible system.When you need them to come for service , you have to pay them . My system has been down for few months and when I called them to come take a look they want 250 dollars for site visit . Stay away from these crooks

My experience with Sun Solar has been a pleasant experience! Sun Solar is responsive and willing to meet my needs as a customer! They were very informative and answered all my questions. Their installation process was excellent and they were very clean and efficient! They have a friendly staff and installers!
