The work was excellent. They arrived when they said they would and completed the job in under their estimated time. They did a brick driveway, walkways and a brick retaining wall. All with re-enforced concrete base.

From the the first time Paul came out to look at our yard, to the demo and on to when they started with the concrete and pavers it has been nothing but wonderful. We had our entire front yard and driveway redone with pavers, stamped concrete and artificial turf and a roman stone sitting wall. The crew was on time and every morning at 7:30 even though they couldn't start until 8:00 in my city, Paul was also there talking about what was going to be happening and also including and confirming with us what was going to be happening for our total front yard transformation. We contracted with Alexander and Sons for the installation of a new pool deck and pergola to replace damaged and outdated same. The work was performed entirely to our satisfaction, according to contract and in a timely fashion. I recommend Alexander and Sons without hesitation.

Specifically:

A well stocked showroom was helpful with design consultations and material selection. Paul Sarkis is very knowledgeable and guided us expertly through the many different choices. Samples were made available to confirm our choices on location. Last minute changes in design (from tweaking the contours here and there to more substantial scope changes) were accommodated without any problem.

Project execution. In addition to Alexander and Sons, this project involved a pool contractor. Schedules had to mesh and timelines adhered to. Unlike the pool contractor, Alexander and Sons didn’t miss a single promised completion date.

Quality of the work. Alexander and Sons employs very capable crafts people to obtain the best possible results. Excellent stone work (both concrete and natural stone) and outstandingly good carpentry (pergola).

Pricing of the entire package is somewhere in the middle. Alexander isn’t the low bidder and by no means the highest. Considering the scope of work and quality delivered I’d say that the pricing was very fair and competitive.

Paul and his team transformed our backyard from dirt and concrete into a beautiful oasis in a matter of weeks.

I contacted A & S via yelp and Paul responded same day and came to give a quote the next day, for our backyard concrete patio demo and redo as well as a cement pathway for the side of our house. I received 3 quotes. A & S was the most expensive but after reading sketchy stuff on the CSLB about the other contractors , I thought the higher price was worth it. It was a good choice. Paul and his crew came on schedule and did a very nice job. What I liked about Paul is that he is patient when I was trying to decide what to do on a limited budget. I will definitely be calling him again for our future landscaping projects.

Paul Sarkis and his crew did an outstanding job at our home; on-time and on-budget. The project included removing some very thick old exposed aggregate concrete and replacing it with very nice stamped concrete - interesting color combination and pattern. The project also involved some stone over concrete - expertly completed. Paul was very helpful in choosing the colors and patterns for the stamped concrete that we liked and that went well with the area environment. He was willing to try something a little different during the pour, and it turned out great.

Based on a referral from a trusted friend, I contracted Alexander & Sons to redo my patio and build a couple of retaining walls.
I'm an engineer and quite particular about the details of my projects. Paul was very detail oriented and available with very short notice to answer my questions and adjust things to my satisfaction. He is easy to work with.
Demolition took about a week. Another week for framing and concrete pour. The crew came back a few weeks later for final sealing. Besides the patio and retaining walls, we also redid the grading, drainage, and included receivers for downspouts. The attention to the project was excellent as was the level of effort from the work crew.
I have already contracted Alexander & Sons for part two of our backyard remodel and plan to use them for the front porch too.

Update: Part 2 of our backyard project is complete and the pool deck looks as good as the lower patio. The work done by Alexander and Sons continues to meet my expectations. I plan to use them again for the final project on our house, the front porch.

We hired Alexander and Sons to revamp our backyard, including sections with stamped concrete, a lawn area, a play area, a pergola and some planter areas. We had Paul redo two of our aging retaining walls. After a very clear estimating/proposal process during which Paul answered any questions we had, he was always available during construction. In fact, he showed up onsite most mornings when work was being done to check on things and talk over progress.

Anytime something would come up, Paul made sure we discussed it and found the best path forward. He managed getting materials up our hill in the mountains (no easy feat) and made several adjustments to changing conditions soft wrist, rain, etc.) His crew worked hard each and always cleaned up after they were done. The end result is two great looking walls that should stand firm for many years to come. Great crew & great work.
