Went in today just to see what tree we wanted......Erica Alarid was wonderful she was patient and very knowledgeable. We asked a lot of questions ........took us on a fun ride in her little garden cart.........we did see some dangerous "june bugs"!
(She doesn't like them)
If you need a tree, this is the place! -
Great nursery all around. From the quality trees and shrubs to the excellent sales staff. I was very impressed by the knowledge of everyone there and the fact they really listen to your needs and give great recommendations. I ended up buying several trees and just had them delivered and planted this past weekend. Once again the planting team was top notch as was the whole experience. Fernando and his team made sure all of the trees were in the exact perfect spot and left me with good knowledge and care. They were super fast and courteous to all our needs.
You would be crazy not to try them out!
All around excellence. -
Andrew was amazing! There trees are healthy and they are super helpful.

I’m at my wit's end. The problems started as soon as we handed over the credit card to pay, and unfortunately, things only got worse from there. After numerous follow-ups, I received inconsistent advice from different employees, leaving me feeling extremely frustrated and misinformed.
In April 2023, we purchased 5 trees from this location. When selecting the trees, we clearly stated that our soil was very clay-heavy and that we had had trouble keeping certain plants alive because of that, and asked for the best solution. Multiple sales reps assured us that the trees they recommended would thrive in the soil provided with the tree installation, and even promised to add extra soil to improve drainage. We felt confident in the purchase, especially with the first year of trees covered under warranty.
Unfortunately, one tree didn’t take at all and had to be replaced, while another is barely surviving. The remaining three trees are doing “okay,” but we’ve encountered significant soil issues. When I reached out for advice, I was told that all I needed were their special products—soil conditioners, Moon Juice, and Moon Dust. I was already using the Moon Juice and Moon Dust but was told to buy more. I called multiple times and had a few employees visit the house, only to receive conflicting advice each time regarding watering and care.
We also paid ~$500 to have our artificial turf pulled up around one of the trees during installation and found out that the existing tree’s foliage was sparse compared to the new one. I raised this concern with the installers, who reassured me it was normal. However, after consulting with an arborist, it became clear that the installation was done poorly and the clay-heavy soil mixture was preventing proper drainage.
For the second year (before the arborist appointment), we renewed our warranties and added the MVP service for professional care and advice. The first MVP visit was disappointing—no specific guidance was given, and we were told that his boss would need to come out for a proper inspection. Despite promises that I would be contacted within the week to schedule the follow-up, two weeks passed with no call. After several attempts to follow up, I was told the report wasn’t even submitted. A few more days passed, and after reaching out again, I was told I needed to speak directly to the care department. I was given a number to call, but each time I called, I was routed back to the same general office, where I’d already spoken to someone. It felt like a never-ending loop.
To make matters worse, I noticed a newly planted tree was in danger of being uprooted due to strong winds. Despite my concerns, no one took immediate action. At this point, I inquired about the warranties for our trees and was told that only replacements were possible—never mind the ongoing issues with the installation and poor communication. It feels like I’m constantly chasing them down with no resolution.
Despite following their care instructions, our other older (barely surviving) tree is now dying. I was told to wait 3–4 months to see if the soil injection might work. After five months of the MVP service, I have yet to have a proper service, and my emails expressing concerns and frustrations remain unanswered.
Now, two of our trees are dying, and removing them would cost at least another $500 due to the impact on our artificial turf.
At this point, the only viable solution would be to just be done with Moon Valley and to get a refund for almost everything: those two trees (even though all 5 are having soil issues) and the MVP service. But what we're being told is that there are no refunds, even if the issue is clearly with the company.
For such expensive products, the lack of customer service is unacceptable. I would simply not recommend using Moon Valley Nursery. Their installation process appears to foster a dependency on warranties and MVP services, which ultimately fail to address the underlying issues caused by poor installation practices and inadequate tree care guidance. -
Travis Zack always does such an amazing job. He’s knowledgeable, thorough and is always friendly in answering any questions we have about our trees and plants. Can’t say enough good stuff about his service!

While their selection of trees is large their commitment to time frames and pro care is not. We asked for a “huge” kumquat tree which equates to a tree less than four feet tall. 1300.00 seems high. Their follow up and fertilize never happened. Not exactly over the moon

I enjoyed my time here today. It's a beautiful place with a great selection.

We are so happy with Moon Valley Nurseries!
When Andrew (designer) came out to our house, we told him everything we wanted (lots of color and drought tolerant plants/trees) and didn't want (no spikes or thorns) in our new backyard. He sent us a CAD design for us to review, which we loved. He made it easy to make a couple of changes. Visiting him at the nursery to see the actual plants and pick a few new ones was fun and made it easier to visualize his design.
Andrew also recommended a third party company to do the yard prep work (tree removal, hard scape, sprinkler installation, debris removal, etc), and that company did an excellent job.
Travis and his team of 4 guys (yikes, I didn't get their names) were excellent. They were very quick, friendly, professional, and efficient. Travis gave us the option to make adjustments to the layout and positioning of the plants and trees.
When Travis noted that a couple of our plants had not made it onto the truck, Christianna (GM of the Chino nursery) made a special trip to deliver them immediately.
And throughout this whole process, from design to installation, Courtney (Quality Assurance Manager) has been amazing. She's emailed and called us to check in with us, answered questions we've had along the way, kept us informed on what is happening next and when, and provided guidance on how to care for our new backyard.
From the beginning, we've been impressed with the levels of care and communication (including the welcome emails from Bianca) that Moon Valley Nurseries has provided.
We already love our new backyard and are so excited to watch it grow in! -
Travis Zack was the arborist for 2 of our 3 MVP Pro Care appointments for the big quad king palm that we bought from Moon Valley. He is super knowledgable, really took time to analyze our situation and make recommendations, and worked hard on-site to rearrange some things like our water ring trough and adding fertilizer. He also advised us on a few bugs that he saw in our palms. With a guy like Travis, we feel like Moon Valley if for us and that we are a true business partner with Moon. Top notch pro...we appreciate it.

This nursery is beautiful! The whole thing is like going through a jungle and it's just so relaxing. We found all the citrus and fruit trees we needed for our yard and we got great help from the nursery pros here. They came out a few days later and installed them all and explained how we should care for them. Thanks Moon Valley Nursery. We love our trees.

I called these guys today for a quote on a couple of citrus trees. It was like pulling teeth to get them to talk about price. This set off alarm bells for me right away. When they finally gave me a quote it was 4 times what other nurseries were quoting for the same trees. The tone of the conversation told me that these guys are more about marketing and sales than about growing plants. Maybe they should be selling used cars instead?
7/8/2025 update
I visited this place in person for some advice about a problem I was having with my cherry tree. They immediately tried to sell me $100 worth of their brand of leaf greening and plant food products. Even though I showed them a sample leaf, they didn't know anything about what the problem really turned out to be (a fungal infection called cherry leaf spot). In my opinion, these guys don't really know anything about plants. They're just there to push their company's products. These are things you can get for MUCH less money at your favorite DIY store and skip the hard sell. These guys should go back to selling used cars or insurance!
Definitely NOT recommended. -
UPDATED a month later: Travis and the crew showed up and did incredible work. In a world where people try to do the least these guys went the extra mile. They were very clean and organized. We have a lot more work to do in the future MOON VALLEY is THE best and they will be our guys!
ORIGINAL POST: Started using these guys over a year ago as I build my dream property. They have been nothing but 100% professional. They worked with us where I believe other companies would not have. -
This place prices are out of control! Like 100x a DIY!!!
and you have to buy protection plan to make sure they did a good job!? And their excuse is that they plant them!
We were quoted a certain plant for $1200 .. the same plant at a hardware store plus a smile and a friendly attitude .. it was 175$ .. you can return it if it don’t survive after a month .. no protection plan needed .. our Gardner planted it for 75$ !!!
Other nurseries priced between them and hardware stores .. just pay your local landscaper or Gardner to plant it .. they charge between 50-100
The reputation of Costco’s and hardware store plants that they don’t survive and like burning money
But it’s a hit and miss .. just be kind to the hardware store nursery people .. and not only they help you pick the correct plants .. they teach you things .. they recommend stuff .. and most importantly they help you pick the ones that will survive! .. not just selling! I’m .. the trick is just be nice to them -
I appreciate all the support and services that Moon Valley has offered. My husband and I bought a tree, plants and shrubs, in early spring 2024, that have lasted and added lushness to our small backyard. Ramon, from the Tree and shrub service has helped us greatly to maintain the quality of our tree and plants. He is honest, friendly, listens carefully to our concerns and follows through with excellent care. Thanks to Ramon for taking time and offering excellent services.
