Constraction reviews in Daly City, California

This has got to be one of the few businesses I can say I trust with great service. Of course, we all have our own opinions but coming from a skeptical back ground this is the best service I have ever had so far!
Dean and his crew really mean serious business when they take on the challenge against water damage and mildew and vents. I mean, these guys are great! I have always been straight up critical about businesses that don't make me happy or that don't satisfy me with their service but this is one that I can call "Good ole fashion Service" and I would recommend Dean and his crew highly to service your place of business and/or home! In-fact, I currently have mold building up on my hall bathroom walls and ceiling right now but just cleaning them isn't going to be enough, so I intend to call Dean back for his services again because this time he has to get into the walls. Not something I can do myself right now. Great work Dean, I'll be calling you back soon my friend!! -
I recently had a flood at one of my properties and had found Dean from Green Cleaning through a referral. I normally do not post reviews but Dean did such an amazing job at my home taking care of the flood and the mold situation that I just had to post a review. I called Dean and he came over at a short notice to help me out. He immediately took care of things for me very efficiently and hassle free. He explained me the entire process of how he would be taking care of drying my carpets and treating the mold using a germicide. It was overall a very smooth experience. I did not have to pay anything out of my pocket to him as he directly worked with my home insurance. I would definitely recommend these guys to everyone.

Dean is so awesome, can't ask for a better company to take care of major water damage that occurred at our condo. I'm SUPER picky about cleanliness and also worried about any mold inhalation that could've materialized after the water saturated behind the walls and floors. They did such a thorough job, he even alerted us immediately when he saw another leak. He suggested another great company to help with the plumbing and turned off our water so more damage would be avoided. They kept me in the know of how things were going with our home, which I also loved. I will always work with GCD if this happens again, although, hoping it never does. AND will work with them for future upholstery cleaning. LOVE that they are GREEN too. Thank you again Dean for such a great and thorough job!

I got in touch with GCD Restoration to do a mold remediation in our kitchen. Manny was the one who came out that day. Instantly, I felt like we are in good hands. Manny and his crew came to our house and removed all the mold in our kitchen. They sealed all the cabinets, drawers, hood range vent--everything. The room was sealed. We just passed the mold inspection and we can finally move on to getting it fixed.

Manny was WONDERFUL! So helpful and reasonable! He was on top of the water damage we had in our garage, took great care to remove, dry, spray and repair the damage! I would recommend him and this company 100%

I'm thrilled to share my exceptional experience with GCD Restoration, specifically with Manny Petrov. After a nightmare with a previous restoration company, Manny and his team were a breath of fresh air.
My washing machine burst in the middle of the night, flooding my entire hall. The initial restoration company left me with subpar service, neglecting to check their equipment or monitor the drying process.
But Manny Petrov and GCD Restoration changed everything. They were punctual, meticulous, and courteous. Manny's prices were reasonable, and his attitude was outstanding.
What impressed me most was Manny's empathy and patience. He took the time to explain everything, answered all my questions, and even accommodated my brother's visit to the site.
If you're in need of restoration services, I highly recommend GCD Restoration and Manny Petrov. They're a game-changer in the industry!
Thank you, Manny, for restoring not only my home but also my faith in restoration services! -
I give Manny and his crew from GCD Restoration 5 stars. In October 2024 I bought a townhome in Half Moon Bay. During the property inspection, my realtor noticed some discoloration in the carpet inside a closet near the entry door. A little exploration revealed mold under the carpet and behind the baseboard and dry wall. I called GCD ( and a couple of other mold remediation outfits), based on their very favorable reviews on Yelp and Google, after speaking with a general contractor about what to look for in a mold remediation contractor. Manny was at the place the next day, he was very thorough, and impressed me by touching on everything I had been told to look for. He gave me an estimate based on the mold damage being limited to the bottom half of the closet, but made it clear that there might also be damage higher up, which would not be detectable until his crew began the process of removing drywall. I was not able to get Manny’s crew in until a few weeks later, because the sellers refused to have the work going on before closing. We closed on Friday 11/1/24, and I called Manny that afternoon. He remembered all of the details from his visit on 10/10/24 and we scheduled the mold remediation to begin the next Wednesday. The two guys who did the work were very careful, thorough and congenial. They set up a containment “tent” with negative pressure and 2 air scrubbers with hepa filters, one in the containment area and one in the adjoining room, to keep mold spores from spreading outside of the contaminated area. The extent of the mold damage was such that they removed all of the drywall, insulation, etc., down to the studs from the subfloor past what had been the top of the closet. They scrubbed, cleaned, and treated with a biocide, then set up a big dehumidifier in the containment area along with the air scrubber. The machines ran for 3 days, but Manny left the containment in place so I could have a mold-testing company (with no prior connection to GCD and chosen by me) take air samples inside the containment area as well as a baseline sample outside. They did that a couple of days later and reported that the remediation was successful. I reminded Manny that his crew did more work than contemplated in his estimate for this job (they did the entire closet, plus some exploration in my dining room above the closet). His bill was only about 15% higher than the total on the estimate – Very reasonable. I don’t impress easily, but GCD did a great job at a very reasonable price and were very easy to work with. I recommend them strongly.

Manny and his team were quick to respond and easy to communicate with during a stressful home remediation process. Their assessment and pricing felt fair and reasonable as well. We hope we won’t need remediation services again anytime soon, but if we did, we would go with GCD restoration.

Manny is a real professional. Great communication, fair prices, and does a proper job.
I got multiple quotes from different companies and GCD was by far the leader. They do the job right vs rushing out as quick as possible like I experienced with others. Thank you for your services!! -
I contacted GCD through Yelp after water started coming through the ceiling of our SOMA condo. Manny came out the next morning (on a Saturday) to investigate and provide a quote and was able to get a crew out later the same day.
After removing the damaged ceiling, Manny's crew determined the leak was coming from the toilet seal in the unit above us and we were able to work with that owner to have it repaired.
GCD also completed our repairs in addition to water remediation. Other companies I'd contacted for quotes only provided water remediation and not repairs. For me, it was very convenient to have one company handle the whole job rather than working with multiple contractors. I left Manny with a key to come and go as needed and they managed the whole project and left everything very clean when done.
Water intrusions are always extremely stressful, but I was very grateful to find this company. They will be my first call if we ever experience another leak. -
Had Manny at GCD come out after our building in SF had a water leak. He had a mold test completed and it came back positive for mold. GCD came in and cleaned everything up and didn't have to rip open the kitchen to do it. We had the air tested after GCD cleaned it all up and reports came back clean. Highly recommend.

We hired GCD Restoration to repair damage caused by an (unrecognized and long-standing) leak in an upstairs bathroom toilet. The leak had done a lot of damage to the floor under the bathroom tile and in a closet directly below the BR: there was mold galore in the walls below. The response from GCD was prompt and sympathetic…which those of us in need of mold remediation really appreciate. Manny was kind, clear and knowledgeable. He went about the process in a methodical and thorough way, from beginning to end. He verified with instrumentation that the leak area was dry and free of mold. When he was done with his work, we were totally confident that the job was done properly and a mold testing company verified that all was good! We were so pleased, we didn’t think twice when we needed help with another plumbing catastrophe, and hired GCD and Manny again.

Manny did an exceptional job with our mold remediation project. From day one, his communication was clear, timely, and reassuring. He walked us through every step, answered every question, and handled everything with professionalism and care. It made the process feel so much easier and far less overwhelming.
His commitment to timelines was equally impressive — he delivered exactly as promised and the results were excellent. The quality of his work and the way he carries himself truly stand out. I absolutely recommend him to anyone needing mold remediation or a dependable expert you can trust. -
This housing development is destroying critical endangered habitat that is basically part of the ecosystem of San Bruno Mountain State Park. The species that live here include numerous plants and flowers, insects such as the Mission Blue and San Bruno Elfin butterfly, and wildlife such as coyotes, foxes, rabbits, etc. I used to go hiking up all through this hill canyon area, and see coyotes and find beautiful quartz crystals. Sometimes would bring up a lawn chair and a beer while enjoying SF Bay, 101 and Cow Palace jurisdictions vibrate from a vantage point. There is a freshwater creek running through here that is an essential source of water for wildlife in an area that is getting increasingly parched by urban development. All of that is being ruined by this housing development. I've had to quietly watch this area get developed over time, ruining yet another nice nature spot in our world. One star isn't low enough. The fight to protect open space is still ongoing and people need to do more to stop this development that destroys sacred locations.

Great experience, easy communication and fantastic work!

Excellent! On time and one budget. Friendly quality work. Phil at Shaker went out of his way to make sure my remodel was successful.

They Sent contract on a Friday. I called Monday to green light and instead was told he no longer is doing drywall as he doesn't have a drywall person.
I mean, how do you run a construction business without having a drywall person? Am I really toindrtstabd in less than 72 hours you suddenly lost your drywall person?
Never mind the fact that any construction worker can do drywall so I don't understand, why he's giving a "story" .
So that was my experience in as such. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this company -
Shaker Construction remodeled our bathroom in May 2013. Phil Schwob did such a great job that we had him return to remodel our kitchen in January 2015. Phil showed up on time every day. Phil exceeded our expectations during both our projects as he went above and beyond the "General Contractor" duties. Mr. Schwob also has a good eye for design. He was very creative with color schemes and always had good suggestions on how to improve the look and functionality of the project. Phil was always willing to work around our schedules and it was a pleasure to work with him. He was honest, dependable and friendly. He also has a wealth of knowledge and stays current on the latest products and technology!!
-
I highly recommend Shaker Construction. Phil remodeled our kitchen, bathroom and fireplace. He had better ideas than my designer because he understands materials and their applications. He took the time to explain all aspects of my project and communicated regularly as things came up. The work areas were kept neat and the work was completed within the estimated time frame. Overall, an excellent experience! I highly recommend him.

I've hired Phil from Shaker Construction multiple times for various home renovation projects, and each experience has been outstanding. He has replaced a bathroom floor, painted several rooms, and repaired a shower—all with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
From the initial consultation to the final touches, Phil consistently demonstrated professionalism, clear communication, and a strong work ethic. Every project was completed on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards. He also maintained a clean and organized work area, which I really appreciated.
Phil is a trustworthy and skilled contractor, and I felt completely at ease having him in my home. I highly recommend Shaker Construction to anyone looking for reliable, top-tier renovation work. Phil’s dedication and expertise have truly made a difference in my home. -
Phil was absolutely AMAZING to work with. He is an incredibly talented tile setter and fantastic all-around general contractor. We worked with Phil to renovate two bathrooms, each of which had highly technical tile-setting requirements. He was careful and meticulous with how he approached each of the bathrooms. Phil’s work included all of the drywall installation, custom shower pan fabrication, custom heated floor installation, tile-setting, and painting. To make sure that the tile layout was perfect, he built a makeshift table in our downstairs common area and then cut and laid out each individual piece of tile prior to install. Phil is also a great problem solver. We had several unforeseen issues arise (as they always do with construction) and Phil came up with really creative solutions. Last, Phil was very transparent and reasonable with his pricing. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Phil’s work and really look forward to working with him again on future projects.
