JVM is easy to work with, professional and above all their work is gorgeous. It can be nerve-wracking not knowing if a company will meet your expectations or even be honest with you about the process. You don't have to worry about that with JVM. Fantastic family company that knows what they're doing. Keep up the good work!

We hired Jvm Landscape to install a beautiful waterfall that was extremely delicate to do, I was happy with the expertise of John the owner of the company he was very professional and really took the time to explain his work. If I had it to do all over again hands down I would work with him again. He came highly recommended.

Updated March 2022: JVM replaced our old, 1.5 acre inefficient irrigation system in June 2021.They stayed on-track with the schedule. I called JVM during the warranty period to ask for assistance with adjusting water coverage and they never scheduled a time to perform that service, even though they said they would. In addition, the pvc pipes have started to separate and cause major flooding just 6 months later. JVM was unwilling to come back out and repair. Would not recommend.

JVM Landscaping TOWERS over the competition! They are competitively priced. What sets JVM apart is QUALITY and ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I learned this the hard way. I saved a few hundred dollars for a beautiful landscaping job that only held up for a short while before serious quality issues arose. I have used JVM for four landscaping jobs over the past 10 years. My projects included major hardscape projects, lighting and re-configuring sprinkler lines. I have also used them for gardening projects and for help to "refresh" foliage and design for curb appeal which is always complemented by neighbors walking by. They typically can fit me into the calendar within a reasonable time. If you need to wait a little bit for them.....DO IT ! Landscaping is very expensive and has to be done right! Do not be lured by competitors stating they can do it right away and for a few dollars less. You will regret it! JVM pays attention to details. They are SMART and take precaution not to damage existing landscape framework such as buried existing water and electricity lines.. Although JVM is competitively priced, they use the HIGHEST QUALITY MATERIALS. They have been in this trade for over 35 years and have mastered the craft as well as elevated their skillset for design. JVM consistently gets better because they commit to continual education in their field. They are knowledgeable on new products and technology. They are authentically pleasant to work with. Their 35 years experience makes them so good at really listening to your landscaping ideas while collaborating with you in a helpful manner to elevate your ideas and design. This results in incredibly improving the the look and feel of your project. They are really good, really knowledgeable in hardscape and soft scape and authentically pleasant to work with. I actually look forward to working with them !

Expecting professionalism and being clear in communication is something this business isn't willing to have as guideposts. Very disappointing that this is their standard. We have a huge project with a big budget and they didn't have enough sense to follow through appropriately.

I scheduled an initial consult with one of their estimators two weeks ago. He was supposed to arrive at 10am. Almost 15 minutes after my appointment time, I got a call from their office saying this estimator called in sick. I understand that however, calling to reschedule an appointment 15 minutes after the scheduled time and being rude about it, is unreasonable. I said that I understand that its hard to keep people on staff right now due to all of the sickness floating around, and because of this I would be willing to reschedule, but moving forward I expected better communication and professionalism. I pointed out that starting a project out like this doesn't bode well and I expected better moving forward since construction and landscape construction projects often go sideways when clear communication isn't established at the outset. The woman told me she didn't see it as a good fit.

JVM Landscape is a very professional organization, and they focus their time and efforts on great results in the landscape construction trade, and making sure you are taken care of. They have handled the design and construction on a large residential property I own.

I contracted with them do demo my existing yard, and install a new irrigation system, pavers, drip system, and artificial grass as well (with a putting green area, too!). I made some changes along the way on a large retaining wall, and they were flexible with me the whole time. I appreciated that flexibility, and understood that that added some time to the job as well, which was good with me. They have great service and people, and exceeded my expectations on what I was expecting from a landscape contracting company. I have already recommended them to friends and family.

We have a large landscaping project and set up a consult with JVM a few weeks ago. 10 min before the appointment they called to let us know the estimator was sick… the appointment was at 4 pm so I’m not sure why this call waited until right before the appointment. We are pretty understanding people and agreed to reschedule. The appointment was for today at 4 pm. And guess what? Another no show. We called Michelle who we had been communicating with this whole time who informed us she was no longer with JVM. We called the main number and left a message but have no desire to reschedule again. There are too many landscaping companies out there to settle for one who has no professionalism and lacks communication. We’re going with Shipshape Landscape instead.

This is a very awkward review for me to write because we used this company for a large, complete renovation of our front yard as well as a large retaining wall across our backyard. The initial work was great and that phase of the work we are very pleased with. However, during consultation before this work started, we let them know that we had a pre-existing drainage system underground and that when they are doing the grading of the land, they need to be mindful of that. During construction, I noticed that part of the drainage pipe had been run over by the earth mover and cut/destroyed and I noted this section to John, the foreman on the job. John assured me that they had noticed it, they tagged it, and it will be addressed during the project.

A year later, we realized after a rain that one of the lines of our drainage system was not draining. We weren't sure where the line daylighted after the landscaping work JVM completed. I called JVM, and to their credit, they did get back to me and sent John and Lacey out to take a look at the end of one of their days. Lacey was able to show us where the end of the line was and she rerouted it for us so that it emptied into a dry river which was great. However, when we went to flush the line to test it, water flooded our back yard, in a area where I knew that the earth mover had cut the original irrigation line. John said that they would have to send somebody out to troubleshoot and that they would be following up to which we agreed and we paid for the rerouting work that Lacey did.

The follow-up never came. I called, texted, emailed Jay and Martha in the office multiple times over several months. Multiple times they made promises to send a tech out that did not show up. I took time off work to be home for some of these appointments and I did not get the courtesy of a call to indicate that the appointment could not be kept. There were times that I didn't get a call at all and I had to call them to find out what had happened. This was so incredibly disrespectful of our time and trust and is just absolutely unacceptable. It's a pity to to write this because their original landscaping looks good, and we generally liked working with this company. To throw away that positive working relationship over such a simple issue is a such a shame.

Today my husband with no real landscaping experience finally dug up that area because we're not expecting JVM to come back out. Within 30 minutes he was able to uncover the glaring issue. Sure enough, the original cut in the pipe where the earth mover had crushed and sliced it is still there. Which means that the original issue that I had pointed out was never properly addressed, but was likely reburied with this enormous hole.

JVM Landscape Construction is a very professional organization. They are very easy to work with and plan a landscape. Clear bids and project description made our project move smoothly. They were ahead of schedule and under budget. They did a great job and our community is very happy with their work. They removed several trees for us and replanted beautiful trees. They worked on our irrigation system by repairing and replacing several parts. They installed beautiful plants and shrubs that really make our church shine. Many thanks to Jay and his great team!

I was looking for a contractor to get a water feature done with Belgard material and I found JVM Landscape through the Belgard website as an authorized partner. Jay was very quick to reply to my inquiry. He was able to come out for an estimate a few days later. He even sent the proposal the same day. Unfortunately the bid was higher than expected and outside our budget so we didn’t proceed with the project. If money wasn’t an issue I would’ve been sold. However Jay’s professionalism and quick response gave me a good impression of his work ethic, which can be hard to come by when it comes to contractors. I will definitely keep JVM in mind for the future.

I have been using JVM landscaping for over 20 years. My landscape projects as well as by budget has grown through the years. I trust John Martinez and rarely question his suggestions. He doesn't cut corners on quality. He will explain why we need to spend a few extra dollars for rugged materials. It will save thousands of dollars in the long run not to mention the aggravating time it takes to troubleshoot and replace parts. His design suggestions are spot on. He's kind to compliment your personal ideas and magically somehow gently expands upon your vision by marginally redesigning your concept. The end result is very gratifying. He knows how to make your home have AMAZING curb appeal by slight modifications to your plan. Only a true expert with decades of experience has that talent. JVM has endured the test of time and that's a testament to a true craftsman. I use JVM for my investment properties as John knows the objectives and economics for my rentals are very different from our home. He's very good at estimating costs for your luxury home or your rental homes and will add valuable consultation to meet your objective and budget.

Check their contractor's license. JVM Landscape Construction are NOT as they try to appear. They are not professional in their business practices. They are not competent in their workmanship. Our experience has been that they will not create a plan nor even refer to previously agreed upon specs. They started with the fence day one, with no idea of where the finished grade would be. Therefore the fence was way too low. No one referred to the agreed upon specs, so they also built the fence completely improperly. Therefore we have no taller posts with caps and too short of a fence. They have raised it twice, but still not properly. There is literally no aspect that they started and started correctly. They have had to redo the drainage several times, because they have no plan. They actually have not finished one item except for the cement, which was actually done by a subcontractor. The site was not ready for the pour, so still problems with that, having to dig under the cement to place the electrical lines. All of their problems are due to lack of leadership, competence, pride in their workmanship. And the most disturbing aspect is their total lack of communication and unresponsiveness to calls, texts, emails. They will not show up when they say they will. Always last minute no shows and postponements. They work very slowly and they disappear for weeks on end. We have several unfinished aspects and many more examples of incompetence. But suffice it to say, we would be way better off to have never used them in the first place.

We have used JVM Landscape on numerous projects around our property since 2015. They have done everything for us from demo of overgrown trees, bushes and shrubs, tree trimming, fence installation, replaced lawn areas with low maintenance/low water landscaping, drip systems, new valves and controllers, installation of vegetable garden boxes, and more. Communication has always been excellent, as just recently the office sent me a text to tell me John was on his way and about 15 minutes out. The best thing about working with them has always been the follow-up. They always get in touch after a job is done to see if everything is working properly, and if there are any issues or questions, we have always had a prompt visit to rectify the situation. It's nice to work with people you can trust

I wanted to give a real shout out to Jay and his team for the amazing work he did on my yard installing a low water sprinkler system and redoing the old configuration of my 1938 house lawn in land park. I needed him to comply with the city requirements to get a water rebate. His quote came in a bit high but he was willing to bring it down in consideration of other bids Igor. His crew is very professional and good. Super hard working. They even had to deal with a broken pipe from a poorly placed fence that broke the water pipe. The worker dug out the concrete and fixed the pipe and reinstalled the fence stake, and removed the heavy concrete. He even extended the water out to a street stop area beyond where it was before. Jay worked with the city to submit documents and I passed inspection shortly thereafter qualifying for a $400 rebate! Great job

I have nothing but good things to say about JVM and their work.
Jay was very responsive and communicated every detail. He was very easy to work with and did a great job working within my budget.
John is a very nice person to work with. John was on site everyday and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. John worked with me on small changes I requested without hesitation. Communication with John was very easy going.
MY experience with JVM was nothing but positive.
I would recommend them and I would use their services again.
To be clear, This is the JVM Construction of El Dorado Hills.

I was recommended to JVM by a neighbor. I recently purchased a new home that did not have a backyard constructed. I was nervous because I’ve never done a project like this before but JVM did a great job walking me through the whole process. They explained how everything would work in detail and gave a few options and explanations on why they would be beneficial. I loved that part because it made me feel comfortable in my decisions. They were great at answering all my questions. My family and I are more than happy with how everything turned out! JVM delivered on everything they promised. They were professional and timely throughout the whole process. I would definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to any friend or family member!

When I called for a bid to rescape my front yard they responded in an appropriate amount of time. Once job started they were here each day until completed. There crew was very polite and friendly and cleaned up at the finish of each day. I knocked off one star because they rescheduled several appointments to meet and they need to work on communication between the office and the workers.

JVM Landscape Construction Inc just completed a revamp of our front and backyard landscaping including retaining wall, new sod, irrigation and miscellaneous plantings. There were some delays and spotty communication along the way, but generally we are happy with the result. Jay the estimator was very patient and accommodating while we collected bids for our pool and concrete refinishing, and he even did a second visit and wrote up a new bid to better fit our landscape budget within the whole of the project. John the foreman was very pleasant to work with. Ultimately it took about 2 weeks longer than estimated to complete, and there were minor tasks not completed, but they also did additional bonus tasks like replanting my shrub roses, so overall we are happy with the outcome. It remains to be seen how well the new plants and irrigation fare in the summer heat and how well the retaining wall handles winter rains. But for now we are satisfied with the result.

This company is incredible! I literally had just moved into new house, next to my daughter’s…
saw a snake .. looked online for companies who did snake fencing. Found “Summit.” Bob Delong answered and came out next day!
I have a little dog, (and am from east coast ) so, having an issue with snakes foreign to me!
To sum it up- fabulous experience! Not only did he do impeccable fencing around my yard , and my daughters- Bob and his workers buoyed up 2 areas of my existing fence with supports and cement.
His team is very supportive and considerate. And Bob is very knowledgeable and kind.
Didn’t expect another expense like this at this time, however, it’s the best investment I have made in this move so far.
