HVAC reviews in Garden Grove, California

Perhaps change your name to Dunn Wrong. Your tech, your customer service, and your talent are definitely in question. After reading some of the reviews I can see this is how they operate. I filed a complaint against them and had to have another vendor come put to resolve the issue. It looks like the one who responds to these reviews is the same ray of sunshine I dealt with. Don't use this company, save uourself the headache.

Similar to other reviews I had to use Dunn-Rite through a home warranty claim. My AC would start/stop, which I explained to the technician Jay.
I'm not an expert of HVAC but told him what I had noticed being the problem. Instead of inspecting the condenser he only looked at the furnace. I thought that was weird based on what I had told him, but he concluded the issue was probably the Nest thermostat. I bought a brand new thermostat only to still have the same issue happen again. On the second trip he finally looked at the condenser and realized it was overheating -- something that should have been obvious the first trip if he had looked at it. He couldn't do anything about it that day so I then had to schedule another appointment.
In the end it took multiple calls, 3 appointments, and an unnecessary Nest thermostat replacement to address a low freon issue. Also, the general attitude was less than pleasant throughout the experience. I would avoid this company if you can. -
BEWARE!!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!! First American Home Warranty sent this company to look at furnace and a/c unit and the technician Jay was rude, impatient, argumentative, didn’t even want to look at the units. He just kept saying this is all pre-existing conditions and no one lives here. Haha… pre-existing conditions? What is that? No one lives here; no kidding the house is being remodeled. What does that have to do with anything? He refused to look at the units for leaks, condenser issues, a/c unit getting hot after it runs a while, voltage draw issues, etc. Jay has a lot of customer service issues!! Arguing and rushing out and SLAMMING the front door shut is NOT good for any company’s reputation. Jay also blocks his name and number from all customers. Maybe he doesn’t know it’s on the work order sent to each customer. This company does not want to help or fix anything, at least not if they send JAY to represent them. I have put a call in to speak to the owner. No reply or call yet. This is the 3rd company from FAHW that has denied and refused to fix anything. Terrible Terrible experience. Don’t waste your time and don’t let FAHW send them to your home.

Amazing service and response to my situation with the recent heat. The owner Janet communicated several times a day to get the job done timely.

No call no show to a 3 hour appointment window they gave us to fix our hvac leak. Wasted 3 hours waiting for them. Wont answer their phone.
Response: I've called 5 times during business hours within the last 3 days and left a voicemail with no response or answer. Im sure we could figure out what happened if you actually answered your phone. Zero customer service unless you leave a negative google review... Stay away from these guys. -
Jay was great as was Dunn-Rite overall. They fixed my furnance. Communication was great and they were super responsive. Jay was also patient with all my questions as I navigated my new home and the heating units. I will be contacting them in the future for additional help! Thank you!

I had a great experience working with this company. The first technician, Jay, came out and accidentally broke one of our drain lines, but they were there two days later and the owner himself, Dean, actually came to finish the job. The reason I am extra impressed is we had two other companies come out who were not able to solve the problem. I think the owner, his experience and unwillingness to give up made all the difference and we are very happy with the service and experience..

Dunn-Rite Plumbing, Heating & Air diagnosed our heating problem and quickly provided the solution. Reasonable price, on time and knowledgeable service, how could you ask for more. I will definitely call them again if I have any plumbing or HVAC issues at the house.

Dough came to my house and supposedly fixed my air conditioner!!! I tried explaining to him that the air is still hot and not working properly and he answered that’s the lowest it can’t go. Joke right!!!! I tried calling the company 10xs and no answer, left voicemails and no call back! My house is 95 degrees right now and the technician supposedly fixed the AC!! Waste of time and money!!! Don’t use this company you’ll regret it!

After terrible experiences with other AC repair shops, I was lucky to meet Doug and his team. Dan and Rich were amazing. They showed up on time and worked non-stop all day long. They were kind, professional and had a great experience with them.
I have a homeowner's warranty and they originally sent out a company that wanted me to literally break down the doorway to my access closet and the wall above it to replace my coil and charge me an additional $2,000 from what the warranty company would pay and I had to tear down and rebuild the wall and doorway myself. I insisted on a second opinion and thankfully they sent out Dunn Right. Doug came over and confirmed that they needed to remove the furnace to get to the coil but that was the correct way to do it.
Dan and Rich took care of everything - they were great and it restored some faith in me that there are still some honest and hard working people out there!
Thank you -
Had a fantastic experience with Doug. Listened to our issue, fixed it and never tried to upsell anything. Very friendly, on-time, and explained everything that was done. I think if he had arrived on Saturday when it was 100+ inside and nothing was working, we all would have been in a bad mood and demanding, perhaps the reason for some of the previous reviews, got lucky it was nice can cool today :)

We had asked another company to look at our issue before remembering we had a home warranty so booked through there. Jay was efficient and honest. He fixed the issue right away which turned out to be minor and said that we didn’t even have a heat shield on our unit, which the other company was going to charge us $1250 to replace! Thanks, Jay!

BEWARE of this company! We started a home warranty claim a week ago (7/1/25) for one failed AC unit. The 2nd unit was under performing, but still operational. The tech (Richard) who was very polite and professional said he replaced a failing UF capacitor and added 2 pounds of Freon, which would fix the problem. That unit now is completely non-operational. We have called this company several times per day July 1-3 then again July 7 w/no response. We also found out from our home warranty company, they never completed any of the paperwork from the prior week and now sits in limbo. We have 3 young kids and a dog with no AC in this heat. After reading others reviews, they are absolutely accurate about this company being completely unresponsive. This company should no longer be in business and doubt they will be for very much longer with this lack of service. Absolute disgrace! DO NOT HIRE!

IF I COULD GIVE THEM A MINUS 5 I WOULD!!!!! Technician came to the property and stated a switch had to be ordered and would call when the part was in. They scheduled Monday after Easter and then canceled stated he was sick. Rescheduled for Tuesday and he proceeded to replace the switch but did not enter the property to make sure it even was functioning. Never checked the thermostat and he just drove away. I have called numerous time (3-4) a day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Left messages no one picked up the phone for 3 days, no one returned a call. I Texted them, emailed them and no response. I call First American twice, still this issue is not resolved.

Technician came to the house an hour outside of the time frame for the appointment. He examined the unit and rudely said it was not working because it was not maintained due to the filter not being in place, I tried to explain that the filter was normally in place ( the previous technician from an earlier estimate removed the filter and left it next to the unit) however he didn’t believe me. Then he went outside and examined the outside condenser and said the coil fins were badly damaged (which they were, as it is 20 + years old) insurance company pays for normal wear and tear. However he claimed that the coils were damaged due to animal urine, which is not possible unless we had a horse in the back yard as the unit is too tall for our dog and to pee all around the whole unit and this damage it. He got angry and insisted it was urine damage possible from racoons, and said he was not going to argue with me. The insurance company refuses to cover the repairs or replacements. Unprofessional and rude and nonsensical diagnosis designed to please the insurance company. AHS insurance

Ask for proof of insurance before the come onto your property! They just bypassed a vital part of our AC unit to cut a corner. Now we have an AC unit without a floater and our attic can flood. DO NOT USE and if you do ask for insurance.

Jay was out to my home today. He was awesome. Respectful clean and very professional. He diagnosed my problem with my ac. He was in and out of my house in 10 mins very fast fix. This company is very affordable. I would recommend them to anyone. Janet in the office was amazing and got me on the schedule right away. Will definitely be using them again.
-
Jay knew immediately what the issue was, thoroughly checked anything that may have contributed, fixed it, and explained everything. Friendly and efficient. Dunn-Rite was dispatched by my home warranty company, and I would choose them myself again, and recommend them to anyone needing HVAC service.
-
The plumber arrived in a timely manner and solved the issue very quickly by replacing a part in my AC. He was also very professional.
-
Technician showed up in a timely matter on his scheduled time and was very knowledgeable. He did what needed to be done and was very fast.He was pleasant to talk to and I recommend them highly.I give him a 10 out of 10

I don't ever leave negative reviews but in this instance I felt compelled to write what a HORRIBLE experience I had with Dunn-Rite. I waited 5 days (3 business days) for them to come out through my home warranty company to fix my a/ c which was blowing hot air and the fan wouldn't turn off except at the breaker panel. Their technician Jay showed up with an attitude the minute I answered the door! I tried explaining the issues to him but he told me in not so many words to shut up and he would talk to me when he was ready! Then he proceeded to add Freon (which it didn't need and didn't fix the problem.) I had an a/c tune up just in April and the coolant level was good so I knew that wasn't the issue unless a new leak had occurred. I tried telling him this and again he was rude, dismissive and didn't want to communicate with me at all at this point. Then he proceeded to tell me that my hydroponic system was the problem and the a/c was "fighting" (his words) with the heater. I've lived with this a/c for 4 1/2 years since I bought it and the a/c has been serviced throughout that time and NEVER had an issue "fighting" with the heater!!! I tried relaying this to him but he refused to listen and then rudely told me he was transferring me to another company who works on hydroponic systems and almost slammed the front door leaving!!! I was stunned and actually started crying after he left.
I read MANY reviews on Dunn-Rite that mirror my terrible experience and many of them relay Jay to be rude and disrespectful also. It's not that I am some crazy woman who doesn't know what I'm speaking about.
My home warranty company was able to get another company assigned to my issue and Dunn-Rite is no longer welcome to come out to my home!!! I hope the owner of Dunn-Rite takes some action with his technician Jay as he is a terrible representative for his company.
