Roy was outstanding. Always on time and completed on time and professionally done. Made several trips to get everything correct. End result is we have a really great looking back yard. Would recommend him for great ideas & design.

Roy transformed our uninviting front and side yards into a lush paradise in a matter of weeks. The amount of care and thoughtfulness that he put into this work from our initial discussions, to the design phase, to plant/materials selection, to planting, to followup is unparalleled among all contractors I've ever worked with. That dedication combined with his horticultural expertise and keen eye for design led to us work with him again on two additional projects, both of which turned out better than we had ever imagined. And to top it off -- he's extremely professional, humble, and kind. I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Roy transformed the front of our house from a depressing eyesore, into an absolutely stunning landscape. We couldn’t be happier. Having lived with his work now for several months, it’s very clear that Roy is a master of his craft. Our garden is thriving, and the space seems to have become even more inviting.

Roy and his team work extremely fast, we couldn’t believe how efficiently our yard was transformed. Always punctual, professional and thorough, he collaborated, and adapted to my ideas. He perfectly captured exactly what it is I didn’t know how to express. He worked witin the confines of our budget and I’m amazed at how much he was able to achieve.

So, yes, 5 stars for Roy. Very very happy.

Roy did a fantastic job helping us with landscaping and design for our backyard! He has a great eye and knows how to do things the right way so they last and there are no issues. I would definitely recommend him and will continue to work with him in the future!

We had a backyard disaster - our fully grown hedge of ficus trees suddenly died, and that left a whole side of our yard without screen from neighbors and a sad, empty look. We met with 8 - 10 different landscape designers for our backyard project and Roy's vision, passion, and artistic sensibility sold us.

We absolutely love the vibe he created and he truly understood our desires. He introduced us to corten steel planters which not only look amazing but are the most durable planters out there. His attention to detail and his punctuality are unrivaled. We look forward to a lot more ways to collaborate with Roy on continuously improving our space -- he has a ton of great ideas, and we appreciate his insight and vision. Roy is the best!

Roy Altaras is a landscape design artist and a great collaborator. We wanted a new backyard that was drought tolerant, incorporates a pool and that can accommodate a garden railroad. Roy listened and worked closely with us to design a backyard garden that is now a tranquil, colorful and lush oasis.
    We love our new backyard!

Roy and his team were fantastic. They installed a new back gate, laid a clean and well-designed ADA path, and trimmed several trees, all with real professionalism and care. The work was done quickly, on schedule, and exactly as promised. Roy was easy to communicate with, thoughtful about the details, and clearly takes pride in doing things the right way. Highly recommend if you want quality work done efficiently and without headaches.

i always have issues with their payment system!! it’s not working properly, doesn’t accept apple pay or credit card!! i drove for 30 min to purchase some things, and couldn’t pay because it wouldn’t work!! and when i tell the cashier that it happens all the time here, they talk to me like i’m imagining it, and wouldn’t want to try the other machine!! It’s very unprofessional, and rude

These guys are awesome, professional, knowledgeable, sweet and helpful. When I don't have time to visit they'll answer questions over the phone. Delightful service! Happy, healthy plants too! Marcie

Prices have gone ridiculous up, the staff seem to care more about watering plants that no one is buying them to help out a customer ready to be checked out. I mean it is in Glendale so you'd expect the prices to be very unrealistic, but from $14.99 to $19.99 for a Terra Cota bowl is just plain outrageous! I bet if Mrs. Armstrong was still alive she wouldn't let this store rip off the few customers they have!

Armstrong is like the Nordstrom’s of the landscape industry. Quality plants, knowledgeable staff and merchandise that costs sometimes twice as much as the competitions. So if you enjoy spending your money this way then this Will be your nursery of choice.

Armstrong Garden Center in Glendale is great. The selection is good, the staff incredibly warm, and the prices in line with a specialty store. I like the quality of the plants and soils. My special order for a Cereus Peruvianus Montrose and Aloe Vera came in two weeks and when I had a question the staff couldn’t immediately answer they researched it out and got back to me right away. Thank you Tanya and Don!

I was a first time customer. One of the employees was really helpful and friendly.
However, the sales person was very arrogant, snippy, rough and not friendly at all. This place is nice but overpriced compared to Home Depot.

This store always has healthy assortment of plants. I like stopping by to the new stock.

Great place to buy vegetables and good customer service. You can also find ladybugs for your garden there. If you have kids they will have a blast releasing them in your garden!

I’ve had good experiences in the past but this year all the plants had bugs — including ones not around any other plant in my living room. They died quickly and Armstrong offers no guarantee on their plants (only trees and shrubs) and said it wasn’t their problem, and they didn’t care at all. So, I’ll be going somewhere that has a guarantee for the “just in case”, next time.

Love this place! They stand behind their products and you pay a little more for quality! Bought many trees and plants from them. I am never disappointed. Can’t be compared to Home Depot or Lowe’s. I couldn’t rave enough about them...

It's sorta', kinda' okayish. But overpriced. The boiler-plate response below in indicative of that. They're unwilling to actually address their shortcomings.

Frankly, I only go there because they're on a main drag I sometimes drive on. Of late there are also fewer employees to answer questions, and the one question I had the last time I was there, which in no way was about something rare that would've taken a Professor of Agronomy to answer, they could answer!

Try independent Garden Centers. Often they have better choices at better prices with better and more knowledgeable staff!

I returned there yesterday, July 13th, '21. I'd just been at a similar "Mom & Pop Nursery and garden supply store in L.A., Sunset Nursery. The Armstrong prices for the SAME kinds of plants in identical condition, as well as pots, various garden tools and assorted supplies were through the roof. And the above mentioned Mom & Pop store's service personnel are far more knowledgeable. Armstrong saying that they're employee owned, while partially true, would only be an incentive if they were better and less expensive than the competition. THEY ARE NOT!

Great store for many past visits but this last visit we went in to spend a large predetermined amount for landscape we said good morning to counter guy 2 maybe 3 times he wouldn't even acknowledge us just rudely did his forced duty mad as hell and when I asked about my points which we had about 200 bucks just confirmed at la crescenta store 30 min prior he just quickly glanced at monitor and said NO point
    Not going back

This place is Fantastic for flowering plants. However I have no more room for flowering plants I only need vegetables. So the vegetables selection is minimal perhaps a tenth of their stock. Additionally they have nice garden decor but it expensive. Everyone that works there tends to be very knowledgeable and accommodating & that is one of the reasons I shop here.
