First time here! I am a beginner plant enthusiast! Came here to get 4 indoor plants today and they had all the ones I was looking for! Bamboo, spider plant, peace lilies and a pothos plant.

Everyone was super friendly, checked in to see if we needed help, and could easily answer the questions I had regarding pets, light, and watering.

Amazing store, come here for seeds, and the outdoor train set is epic! I think i will buy an assortment of hot peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes, and persimmon tree.
The folks that work here are great, friendly and knowledgeable.
Did i say the train is cool?

Great gardening store and nursery. I don't live very close to this store but occasionally make the trip because it has so much more than our local nurseries. They have a ton of trees, succulents, vegetables, herbs, landscaping plants, and even unique plants that I don't see too often, like Angel's Trumpet. Bonsai, or water plants for ponds.

A main motivator of my drive, though, is that they have a fairly large selection of California native and drought tolerant plants. Each plant has great information, not just about size and care but about the importance to wildlife or native people.

I don't find their herb or vegetable selection to be as large as some other nurseries, but they do have way more trees than other places.

Inside the store they have all kinds of garden decor, fertilizers and tools for the garden, and seeds. Important to me, they carry seeds from The San Diego Seed company, so I can buy seeds that are adapted or selected for this area in particular.

My kids favorite area is the train. They have an amazing train set at this location, and they even decorate it for the holidays! The train conductors/operators are so friendly and seems to genuinely enjoy visiting with the kids who come.

And bonus, they had a Totoro inspired scavenger hunt for the kids!

Beautiful to walk through, huge selection. Prices are on The high side but the quality and selection are what you pay for. Neat model train setup, also have a chicken coop. It’s fun to explore. I was looking for a olive tree and there was so much there I was lost. 4 stars cause prices are higher and could not find anyone to help.

I love the vibe of this place. It’s so relaxing with the train set and ponds/waterfalls. I come here often and my edible plants purchased from here are doing really well, I couldn’t be happier. The prices are decent, at least for the edible plants and herbs I have purchased. They have a nice selection of fun pots and garden accessories like wind chimes and hummingbird feeders.

I love this nursery! They have the best staff, fantastic selection, great prices and you can even get amazing advice from more experienced gardeners if they see you looking a bit confused about options. It's the best! I love the advice I get from everyone there, it has been a HUGE help!

Incredibly disappointing .. This is the second tree dead shortly after purchasing while still in its original pot. Total waste of money and time. Passion fruit and lime finger dead on same drip line I grow another 30 to 50 pots . I called for assistance, not even partial credit was offered. Last time I will be visiting this nursery!

Update: I cant respond to the owners message below but I will add it here for anyone interested in reading this:

Your records are incorrect. The Finger Lime was purchased in January, not May, and I called your shop perhaps not right away as I live too far to bring it in why I did not report the passion fruit issue nor wanted a refund for it. I received no courtesy or apology during that call earlier..

For anyone interested : after a careful inspection of both the Passion Vine and the Citrus reveals both died of root rot. This is a direct result of your nursery using heavy, compost-based mulch instead of the well-drained soil these specific plants require.

Closing my account because I identified a quality and technical failure in your stock is disappointing, but given the lack of support, it's clear we aren't a good match.

Staff is always helpful. Selection is always great. Prices are a bit higher than other places but I think their plants are better and grown locally. The garden train is pretty cool as well.

An amazing nursery that has tons of choices in flowers, shrubs, trees, for indoor or outdoor use. I have used them for planting decorative trees on our land in Ramona, as well as gifts for family and friends. They also have a wide variety of soils and plant care tools and products for any application. The pot and planter selection is great and they do deliver! Thanks to the knowledgeable staff for patiently answering my many questions when recently buying an office plant for my daughter’s new job, and delivering it right in time, You guys are the best!

Had a wonderful experience here, so many plants to see and my favorites were the vegetable gardens. They had so many plants and plant varieties. While I was there the fruit trees and flowers looked to be the more popular sections. Every time we turned the corner there was something to be seen. The whimsical train was such a sight with its endless displays as well. The plants worked into it were very inspirational for a fairy garden. The hens in the back were also so cute. I also have to point out how they also have a wide variety of pond plants! The last time I looked for them my brother and I searched tons of nurseries and found nothing. It was amazing that they not only had them but also had such a good healthy variety. Next time I'm building an enclosure pond for guppies and rice fish I now know where to go. I loved this place and thought it was perfect for getting in my daily steps. I will definitely be coming back.

you are looking for a bargain-bin experience, this isn't it—but if you want top-tier quality and absolute expertise, Walter Andersen Nursery is the ultimate garden gem. This has become our absolute go-to whenever we need something highly specific or a bit out of the ordinary. And sometimes we'll just go there for fun too!

Trust me, the difference in plant quality here is undeniable. We are incredibly picky about what we bring into our home and garden, both for our indoor collection and our outdoor landscaping. Walter Andersen never disappoints! What really sets them apart, though, is the staff. Let’s talk about their knowledge—they have helped us solve so many complex garden problems that other places couldn't touch.

Every single person we’ve worked with has been so helpful and deeply knowledgeable about their inventory. Because of their expert advice and high-quality plants, we have a beautiful, thriving garden to show for it! If you care about the health and longevity of your plants, I highly recommend making this your first stop. It is a special place for anyone who takes their gardening seriously. Truly a five-star experience every single time!

The shredding and electric recycling was well organized. A bit of a line but moved pretty quick.
