From the time we meet Greg May through the completion of the project not only did they stay within agreed budget but once work stared stayed within time frame they gave us to complete our major Great Room/Kitchen renovation. May Construction did a great job on our living room and master bathroom remodel. Greg’s personal walkthrough right at the beginning really helped us figure out what we wanted to do. Then his design staff turned ideas into 3D renderings which gave us an accurate visual of what things would look like. The construction team was very good, all personable, knowledgeable craftsman who did excellent work and were always willing to answer questions and listen to our input. The job was completed on time and budget. It all went very smoothly, nicely managed by their project leader. Quality work by a quality team. We highly recommend May Construction for home remodeling.

The team at May Construction is absolutely amazing. My husband and I did a fairly major renovation (removing load bearing walls, completely gutting and changing the layout of the kitchen, new floors throughout 1st floor, removing and replacing windows, adding a skylight, remodeling 3 bathrooms). I'm sure you've heard contractor horror stories as we had, but I can very happily let you know that you're safe from those nightmares with the team at May! Every person at May treated our home and the job as if it were happening in their own home, with the utmost care and attention to detail. Greg (the owner) did a fantastic job explaining the process up front, and making sure we were well-informed on budget, timeline, and expectations before we got started. Our project manager, Bill, was the absolute BEST. I cannot overemphasize how incredible he was to work with. Throughout our project, he kept us extremely well informed, was consistently present onsite, and managed the subs (who were also all great!) extremely effectively. He was ALWAYS easy to reach (even when I had to call him after-hours and on the weekend) and constantly pushing for efficiency AND quality on our project. He was clearly very knowledgeable and was always able to give us fantastic advice on decisions when we needed it. Not to mention, he was just extremely pleasant to work with. Our project came in on budget and on time (actually slightly early!). I cannot recommend May Construction enough.

From the very first meeting with Greg May, I knew my bathroom remodel project would be in good hands. Greg's professionalism and ease with which he communicated was very important to me. Once the project began and I met the crew, then the magic really began! The project manager and foreman were attentive to all my questions and curiosities as the project progressed. Each craftsman that came out was top notch, and easy to be around. With all the ups and downs that come with home remodeling, I felt secure knowing my construction crew was looking out for me and my home. May Construction remodeled our kitchen and dining room area. The project entailed a complete gutting of the kitchen down to the studs, and then a rebuild that included plumbing, electrical, all new cabinets and appliances, a hardwood floor, granite countertops, decorative mosaic and tile backsplash, and paint. This company was outstanding to work with, as exemplified by their performance on things that mattered most to us:
1) Project cost. With May Construction’s “Design-to-Build” process, we worked with them to plan the detailed features and layout for the new kitchen area before construction began. This enabled us to make informed choices to define a project that fit within our budget before we signed the contract. Ultimately, our project cost rose less than 2% from start to finish, with most of that being minor changes we made as construction progressed.

2) Schedule. We lived in the home during the construction, and it was important for us to know who would be there when. It was also important to get the kitchen back and usable as quickly as possible. As a result of the Design-to-Build process, May Construction was able to lay out a day-by-day schedule that would have the construction complete within 10 weeks. We knew every day who would be at the house and what task they were there to complete. And they stuck to it -- we were back using the completed kitchen in 10 weeks, as scheduled.

3) Quality of Work. This was an investment in our home. We wanted the job done right. May’s site managers, Bill and Eric, coordinated and supervised the competent subcontractors. Everyone took pride in their work, and were committed to ensuring we were pleased with what they’d done. If we had a question, Bill or Eric or the subcontractor were there to deal with it. And never did they make us feel like we were being too picky.

4) Communication. May Construction was very responsive. Whether by phone, text, or email, we were always able to get a hold of the person we needed in very quickly. If they didn’t pick up the phone right away, they always got back to us in a short amount of time.

Beyond the usual standards you measure a contractor by, May Construction was interested in ensuring we had a positive experience. Everyone involved was easy to work with, and we always knew our project was important to them. They checked with us every step of the way to make sure we were happy as the project progressed. We highly recommend May Construction, and would use them again.

Our relationship with May Construction began in 1993 when they remodeled our kitchen. We were thrilled to learn that they were still in business when we decided it was time for a refresh ---27 years later! When you read through all the five-star glowing reviews, people consistently mention the many, same positive aspects of their experiences with May Construction, and it was no different when I reached out to previous customers for a reference, when we embarked on an extensive whole home remodel. That says it all, really. You can be sure that Greg May and his entire team will do a fantastic job on your project. They guide you through the entire process in an organized, systematic way, including shopping for and selecting materials (with a preferred vendor list, and in what specific sequence to make your selections so as to account for product lead times and planning), budgeting, and design. They assign a designer to work with you, to help with all of that. The subcontractors -- each and every one of them -- were outstanding, knowledgeable, and professional. Their expert workmanship was top-notch. Things flowed smoothly and on-schedule. They were so efficient, in fact, that the project finished a bit early, and even after it was done, their people came back later to remedy any little problems that cropped up. I can also tell you that many of our neighbors commented and complimented the team on how they went about their work without creating excessive noise, disturbances, or inconvenience. In short, you will have a successful, headache-free project, and will love the final result.

A friend recommended May Construction when we were considering a kitchen remodel, and we’re very glad they did. Our initial consultation with Bill was thoughtful and thorough—he walked us through options while respecting that we liked the basic layout of our original 1970s kitchen.

We ultimately chose a full renovation down to the studs, including raising the original drop ceiling to support key design elements. Once work began, we worked daily with Troy, who kept us well informed throughout the project.

We had heard plenty of renovation horror stories and were prepared for the worst, but none of those concerns materialized. The schedule was very predictable, with few idle days, and the crew consistently cleaned the work areas at the end of each day.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail—from both the May team and their subcontractors—was excellent. Sitting in our new kitchen now, we’re continually impressed by the beauty of the cabinetry and countertops. We can’t think of anything we would have done differently, which speaks to the quality of guidance we received from day one with May Construction.

We were apprehensive about embarking on a whole home renovation given horror stories we had heard about projects going way over budget and being delayed by many months. A friend of a friend referred us to May Construction, and from the beginning, we felt at ease with May's warm and down to earth team. In addition to the quality of your finished home, their priorities were specifically on providing an accurate cost proposal and staying on schedule by carefully staging their subcontractor and having them work in parallel whenever possible.

May Construction is a design-build contractor, and we used them for both the design and construction of our project. The design phase was easy, interactive, and collaborative, with Bill and Donna leading the effort. From our prioritized feature wish-list, an initial design was created. We wanted a couple of things in the floor plan modified, and we quickly converged on an optimized layout. During this phase, we also followed May's product selection process to choose materials and finishes that would allow an accurate build proposal to be generated. May took care of permitting.

Once the build phase started, our project manager Troy took the lead and we had weekly progress meetings at the job site to review progress, look ahead to what would be done in the coming week, and communicate anything they needed from us. This was really an exciting part of the project as you could see the process, progress, and "guts" of what goes into something like this. We always felt welcomed, respected, and the May team was always patient with questions. They were proactive in asking things like where we wanted solid blocking put in behind the drywall to support hanging of heavier things on the wall or future installation of support bars for aging in place. They suggested we take plenty of pictures so we remembered where structural things were that wouldn't be obvious after everything was finished.

We even had a mishap where the wrong kitchen backsplash tiles were ordered and about half were installed before the mistake was caught. May's team removed and cleaned the incorrect tiles and got the correct ones installed, all with no impact to cost or schedule.

All of the people at the subcontractors we encountered along the process were also pleasant to deal with and very skilled as well.

We had minimal change orders, all fair and well understood, and the overall impact to our original project cost was <5%. Some of the changes we initiated impacted the schedule a bit, as well as other minor slips that are inevitable in a major project, but the end impact on the schedule was less than 15% including both scope expansion and minor slips. We were really pleased with how no unexpected cost overruns surfaced and how May's team was able to keep close to the original schedule - we were listing the property we had been living in and wanted to do so before the holidays.

We've talked to neighbors in the immediate area that have their projects extended by many, many months. We were so relieved to have chosen the right contractor who made the process so painless - and we're truly delighted with the results.

When you can think back fondly on such a major project and continue to have positive feelings on the abilities and integrity of the entire team of a company, it's easy and a pleasure to recommend them, and that's definitely the case with May Construction.

Very pleased with the work performed by Trudel Construction. We had water damage and needed to replace flooring in our unit, plus drywall damage in the unit below us. They were fast with response, clean with their work and the completed project looks great. I would absolutely refer them and I would use them again!
