We used several contractors for numerous projects in our home purchase for the past 8 months and Sun West is hands down one of the best. Even during this pandemic, while other businesses say there is labor shortage, supply shortage and every other excuse out there to not do a good job, we experienced non of that with Sun West.
The scheduling was done well, very accommodating to our needs and timing. They provide digital renders of the colors you select and also do large physical swatches on your house. The cherry on top is that this is family owned and run, so they care about quality and service.
A few things to note about the painting crew: they are very neat and clean. At the end of each day, they make sure to clean up and put everything to the side. Everything is carefully covered and taken care of.
They work quickly and do not waste any time. Everyone on our street was impressed. One of our neighbors commented that “they didn’t realize they were even there”. You have to live a company like this. We will be using them for Interior projects and they will be the ones we recommend to everyone.
They are extremely busy but they will treat you as valued, no matter what. You won’t regret selecting them.

Sunwest Painting did an excellent job painting the exterior of our house in South San Jose.

The initial consultation with Denise was excellent steering us into color choices that we were extremely happy with.

The painters were courteous, professional and took a lot of pride in the quality of the work they did. They were meticulous in checking for damaged wood and repairing, caulking around windows and doors and covering surfaces to prevent accidental paint application.

They also were very punctual and cleaned up the area around the house very well.

Last but not least, the painters displayed a great respect for plants in our native garden close to the front of the house and carefully worked around them while doing an exemplary job painting the house.

The quality of the paint job was good. My house looks new again. There were some cracks on the stucco and they helped me filled the cracks.

Luis and his crew did an outstanding job on painting the exterior of my home. When we met with Luis, he listened to our concerns and made sure we got what we wanted. We had minor repairs to our home and he provided the repairs in the quote. He works collaboratively with the client and offers suggestions when asked. He explained step-by-step what would happen and then provided us a well written document that explains everything. The crew worked carefully to make sure the house was prepared for painting (repairs, power wash, scraping, sanding) before beginning painting. I felt comfortable in approaching painters with changes. The foreman, Guillermo, is a very nice man and aims to please! During the project, Luis checked the progress texting me each time he came out. Before deciding to go with Sunwest Painting, we got 5 quotes. The project price was not the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either. After seeing how hard this company works to please their customers and the excellent job they do, I believe the price was just right! I would highly recommend Sunwest Painting over any other painting company.

Sunwest Painting painted the exterior of my house 4 years ago - and it still looks great now! Recently, we had a smaller paint project for them at a rental property and Alonzo - the owner - came out and exceeded our expectations! Sunwest painting did an excellent job! I hired them to paint my living room with vaulted ceilings (20 ft) as well as the full exterior of my two-story house. I got an accurate and speedy quote, the crew was on-time and courteous, matched the quote, did good work, and cleaned up afterwards. They even hung some custom shutters on the outside of the house after painting them. I had some scheduling issues around refinishing my living room hardwood floors that they were able to accommodate graciously. I'm very pleased with the results and will definitely be calling on Louis and team next time I need some painting done.

You could not ask for more in a contractor's professionalism and well-run project management. Owner Chris assigns a project manager to each project. My project was painting the exterior of my house, which required a few wall patches. Project Manager Keith stayed on top of the project, which was carried out by two dedicated painters. The senior painter was quite experienced and thought in terms of the whole job. When he found dry rot in one spot on the eaves, he carefully diagnosed how that had happened, and we worked out a plan for him to repair the area. An area that needed major patching was done so well that the repair isn't even noticeable. Keith stopped by on two occasions to be sure that the project was going well. He conversed with the senior painter and with me. One reason that I chose Blue Spade is that it is a full-service construction business that is licensed, bonded, and insured. Chris was able to look at the project I had in mind from that broader contractor's perspective. I would definitely hire them again for other home repair or remodeling projects.

Blue Spade did my yard tiling project that some other companies think too challenging to do. Chris and Keith are really really pleasant to work with--on time, professional, excellent communications, great project management that kept us informed on next steps. Chris provided us with excellent advice on how to renovate our family room and incorporate the adjacent bedroom. We received a very reasonable quote within two days, and soon after, the Blue Spade team arrived at our home. Blue Spade Construction is an outstanding contractor. Chris Wencel, the owner, was very communicative and extremely cooperative, a rarity for general contractors. Emilio is the person who came to do the work and listened to what we needed and executed in an efficient and competent manner. Both people were an absolute pleasure to work with. The project was a small one, making the shower tub safer by removing the glass doors and replacing them with a double shower rod, mounted in existing tile. Emilio did a beautiful job – it looks like an entirely new room. We have other projects coming up and they will definitely be top of the list in consideration. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
