HVAC reviews in San Jose, California

Our experience with Irbis was a lengthy one, spanning over 11 months from initial visit to final completion. Despite some missteps along the way, their dedication to customer satisfaction is truly commendable. They made multiple visits - at least a dozen - to address various issues related to the new heat pump's installation, such as vibration and condensation drainage problems. The technicians were consistently respectful and considerate in their approach, while the office staff was responsive and fair in terms of scheduling, payments, and leadership. While we wished the process had been more streamlined, we're grateful for a company that prioritized getting it right over speed.

Eduardo from IRBIS was fantastic - he quickly diagnosed the rattling furnace issue and explained it clearly, including how the electrified filter works to clean the air. His knowledge of heat pumps and relevant California regulations impressed me. He did a great job resolving the problem, and I'm now confident in their expertise.

We're impressed with the service and professionalism shown by Christian Palomino, Laki, Francisco Ramos, and Fernando from this home services business. Their work was top-notch and we'd definitely recommend them to others. We're currently looking into replacing our old water heater.

IRBIS replaced our old furnace in 2022 with Jonathan handling the job. Fast forward to 2025 and our 15-year-old AC compressor started acting up - Jonathan was sent to fix it again. He arrived promptly, kept us informed, and got the repair done. We like IRBIS's process; it's straightforward and transparent. Jonathan's professionalism is a big plus - he's definitely an asset to their team!

I had an excellent experience with technician Alonso from start to finish. From booking to on-site check-up, he was courteous, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable about his work. He swiftly pinpointed two pinched vents, which were probably causing furnace overheating issues, and found a nearly inaccessible air intake filter that hadn't been changed in years. Alonso walked me through the problems clearly, explaining how they impact air quality and furnace performance. His thorough inspection and practical approach left me grateful and impressed - I highly recommend this technician!

We had a fantastic experience from start to finish with IRBIS when they installed our new AC, heating system, and whole house fan. The initial visit with Justin was informative, friendly, and honest, setting the tone for the entire process. He provided a fair quote that included upgraded components at a lower price than another company we considered. Jacobo and Benedicto arrived promptly both days and delivered excellent work, leaving our home tidy and explaining how everything works. What impressed me most was IRBIS's attention to detail with paperwork for rebates - it made the process seamless. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my experience and would wholeheartedly recommend IRBIS.

I want to give a shout-out to the team at IRBIS HVAC, particularly Tim Surinsuk, Christian Palomino, Laki Fonua, Winston Reyes, Santiago, and Sofia. They replaced our gas water heater and furnace with heat pump equipment last year, which was a complex job that required rewiring, reconfiguring spaces, inspections, and navigating rebates. After vetting five vendors, we trusted IRBIS to deliver the best solution for our needs.
Our interactions with everyone at IRBIS were extremely positive. They're professional, responsive, and efficient – a well-coordinated team - and their work exceeded expectations. -
These professionals are excellent. Ray explained the pros and cons of switching to electric versus hybrid for our furnace replacement and AC addition, including a full duct upgrade. The installers - Jose, Benedicto, and another Jose - were top-notch. They arrived on time, respected our property, and made adjustments as needed. Their work was thorough, clean, and of high quality. Overall, the service was exceptional value for the price. I'd highly recommend them to anyone and would definitely use their services again.

I've been using IRBIS Air Plumbing Electrical for a couple of years now, after they fixed a leak in my air pump. Their initial service was spot on and I've stuck with them ever since - their membership program has paid off big time.
Their regular maintenance gives me confidence that my heating and cooling systems are in good hands. Recently, Rodolfo (Rudy) checked my furnace, heat pump, and water heater and he was top-notch. Professional, knowledgeable, and thorough - you can tell he knows his stuff. He also offered some sensible suggestions to fix a heating imbalance I'd been experiencing.
I'm extremely satisfied with IRBIS's service and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable work, regular maintenance, and prompt fixes when issues arise. They've looked after my home's systems admirably. -
I'm thoroughly satisfied with the service from IRBIS Systems. When they inspected our HVAC system, Rudy spotted a gas leak that required prompt resolution. He was courteous, swift, and knowledgeable, offering quotes and alternatives on the spot. What impressed me most was his dedication to helping us navigate the process - he connected us with sales representatives, helped schedule appointments for heat pump quotes, and even informed us about relevant rebates. Overall, Rudy's expertise and assistance made the entire experience seamless and stress-free, earning my strong endorsement of IRBIS Systems.

I recently hired Irbis for a second opinion on my heater's intermittent shutoff issue, after Fuse had botched the diagnosis and were trying to rip me off with an overpriced fan replacement. Luckily, Jonathan Camargo and Ivan showed up and fixed the problem - it turned out to be a much simpler fix than I expected! They also pointed out another potential issue with my intake pipe that was letting water in and suggested a solution that Fuse had missed entirely. The service was top-notch, and their explanations were clear and helpful. My previous seasonal maintenance by Dominic Corriere was also excellent - thanks for the great service from Irbis!

We hired IRBIS HVAC years ago for duct replacement, but our issues only came to light recently when a simple metal tape was found in our system - an overcharge that's still not been fully rectified.
Since then, we've discovered major installation flaws with multiple supply vents. In some areas, metal boots were missing altogether, while in others, they weren't sealed properly, leaving wall cavities exposed and causing damage inside the walls and visible mold growth. This is especially concerning since one of the affected rooms belongs to our son.
We reached out several times over the past three weeks for repairs, but IRBIS HVAC claimed their schedule was too tight - no action has been taken despite repeated requests. We're now working with independent inspectors and lab testing to document the damage.
This ordeal has caused significant stress, time, and added expenses that could have been avoided if the installation had been done right and customer service was more responsive. We hope IRBIS HVAC addresses these issues so other families don't experience the same problems. -
Here's a rewritten version of the review:
We waited a while to write this review so we could assess everything after the job was done. We were excited about IRBIS based on price and availability, but unfortunately our experience was subpar and we had to seek help elsewhere for the system to function as expected.
In summary, here's what went wrong:
When we first spoke to the tech, the scheduled start time was 10 days, but it took three weeks to get someone in. We chose IRBIS because of its price and availability, particularly since our ducts were damaged. However, we ended up living with torn ducts for three weeks while other companies had more readily available schedules.
No project plan was provided, despite my repeated requests. I asked for it three times, but never received one before the work began. We didn't know when the technicians would arrive or if we needed to be out of the house during asbestos abatement procedures.
The project timeline was estimated to take 3-4 days, but we were without heat in freezing weather for 8 days. Coordinating with them to get people to finish the job was a hassle, and at one point our system wouldn't even turn on. I had to push for same-day appointments since it was extremely cold and the project wasn't done. This was particularly problematic given my pregnancy and the need to keep my toddler's room at a safe temperature.
The technicians were rough with our walls, cutting bigger holes than necessary and filling them messily. They chipped a tile in our bathroom and cut a hole that was too big, leaving it looking damaged. I'm considering hiring someone to fix it.
Some issues with the installation remain unresolved. The technicians refused to replace certain boots because they would require additional wall cuts, leaving some of them still in place. It's unclear if this will impact the system's functionality over time. They also used a thin cover over one of our main intakes, exposing a large duct every time we walk out into our bedroom.
The worst part is that our zoning panel was damaged during the replacement and we had to pay an extra $1200 to get a new one. Despite this, zoning still doesn't work properly, as they claim our dampeners are broken. Our original quote included dampeners, but it's unclear if these were manual or electric types, and it wasn't explicitly stated in our contract.
We paid the additional $1200 for the panel alone because we needed the system to function, but now the system works intermittently. When I turn on the zoning upstairs, the heat blows the whole house, while downstairs it's unbalanced. The total cost was around $13,500, and I expect another 1-2k will be needed to fix the zoning issue with someone else. -
New HVAC system was installed quickly and affordably, with excellent craftsmanship and top-notch customer support. The entire process went smoothly, resulting in a reliable and efficient heating solution.

I had an excellent experience with IRBIS, courtesy of technician Rudy, who handled maintenance on my heater/furnace. He's extremely competent and has a deep understanding of the equipment, which is reassuring. Additionally, he was approachable and took the time to explain everything in detail. I'm thoroughly pleased with the service and would highly recommend IRBIS and specifically Rudy to anyone requiring similar work. I intend to continue using their services and remain a loyal customer.

My HVAC stopped working without warning last Friday. I called IRBIS, and they sent someone over the same day. Euardo figured out the problem (the air blowing motor was missing) and presented me with my options. The fix took two business days from when I decided to move forward on Tuesday. IRBIS is quick to respond and does quality work, plus their staff are kind. I recently signed up for their maintenance service to keep my HVAC in good condition. Euardo's professionalism and courtesy impressed me greatly.

We had a 25-year-old furnace shut down on us without warning, so we called around for assistance. Two companies showed up to diagnose, but none compared to IRBIS's prompt response and professionalism. Tim was our point of contact, and he presented us with options in a clear and concise manner that even helped demystify the difference between heat pumps and furnaces. He took the time to answer all our questions thoroughly and showed us examples of their previous work.
What impressed us most was how Tim handled the sale - he didn't push any particular option or try to upsell us on anything. Instead, he provided pros and cons of each choice and let us decide what best suited our needs. We ultimately decided to replace the old furnace with a heat pump and smart thermostat, which IRBIS included in their quote.
The estimate from IRBIS was detailed and reasonable compared to other quotes we received from multiple companies. They required a two-week start date, but they offered an alternative solution - an electric heater that turned out not to be needed. The work itself was completed efficiently with the crew explaining every step of the process and leaving the area spotless each day.
The crew arrived on time for all three days of work, and their communication before, during, and after the project was top-notch. We appreciated knowing that we could trust IRBIS to deliver as promised, especially given the significant investment we were making. Overall, our experience with IRBIS exceeded expectations, and we highly recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC services. -
This company exceeded our expectations. They replaced our outdated furnace with a heat pump, which has made a huge difference on extremely hot days in San Bruno. We appreciate having air conditioning whenever needed, and it's added significant value to our home. The service was professional, and the team took the time to explain everything clearly before we made a purchase. Installation was efficient, and the crew left the site spotless - a great example of good customer service.

Our technician demonstrated exceptional skill in diagnosing a vibration issue with our outdoor heating and cooling system. He conducted a meticulous examination, methodically ruling out potential causes, and provided clear explanations of his work. His thorough approach and attention to detail ensured the problem was completely resolved. We appreciate the time and care he invested to guarantee proper functionality. The entire experience was top-notch, and we highly recommend this service.

IRBIS did a fantastic job installing my new HVAC unit. They suggested switching to electric from gas, which has made a huge difference for our family.
During the installation, Pablo, Fernando, and Jared were top-notch, getting everything done quickly and efficiently without leaving any mess behind - my attic looks cleaner and brighter than ever! The office staff are also super helpful with scheduling inspections and setting up rebates. -
Our experience with Irbis was a mixed bag, to say the least. On one hand, they've received good reviews from friends and neighbors for their basic installations, which is fair given that their work can be decent if you're just looking for something straightforward.
However, our installation was anything but simple. We had a multi-zone system with complex requirements, and Irbis had to expand our floor vents to accommodate it. While they did manage to get the mechanical and brazing parts of the install right, they struggled mightily elsewhere.
One major issue was the sheer amount of trash they left behind - screws, nails, insulation, and more - scattered all over the crawl space and around the compressor unit. Every time they came back to work on us, we'd find new piles of debris that needed to be cleaned up, which got frustrating given our young puppy in the house. We've asked them multiple times to clean up after themselves, but it seems like that's been a constant battle.
But what really took the cake was when they tore out our old system and told us we'd have to replace all of our ductwork - despite having agreed to keep it during the initial scope of work. It felt like a bait-and-switch move, which made me skeptical from the start. And sure enough, when they got to work on replacing the ductwork, they didn't do everything correctly. I ended up having to double-check their work and point out all sorts of mistakes.
One thing that was supposed to be included in the contract was insulation around the plenum, but instead they just left it with old fiberglass insulation. And when it came time to run a new circuit to the furnace, they told us it would cost $850 - but what they actually did was reuse an old circuit and convert it to 240v using a new breaker. It's like they were trying to nickel-and-dime us.
The real kicker was when they butchered our hardwood floors, cutting the vents wrong and not even bothering to straighten up the floor joists. We had to hire another contractor to come in and fix everything - which meant we'd be shelling out more cash for Irbis to fix their own mistakes. And if that wasn't enough, they also cut into a built-in cabinet in one of our bedrooms. The only consolation is that they're going to give us oversized floor vents to cover up the damage.
When it came time to provision the system, we had to walk the installer through each step because he clearly didn't understand what was happening. They know how to install the equipment itself, but beyond that, I'm not convinced they have a clue.
One thing that really took me aback was when they wired the control system with high-voltage wire nuts in a way that's just begging to fail over time. I've since decided to rewire the entire system myself because of their incompetence - and I'm still waiting for them to fix it, despite their assurance that everything is fine.
The final straw came when they told us we'd have to pay the full amount upfront before we could get our federal tax credit - even though they weren't completely finished installing our system. And now, we're still stuck waiting for them to finish up any remaining punch-list items so we can get our duct testing done and get a final permit. At this point, I just want them to wrap things up already so I can move on with my life.
All in all, I'd say stay far, far away from Irbis - based on our experience, they're not worth the hassle.
