Can't say enough about this company. The owner Ben is a pleasure to work with and genuinely cares about his clients. The work they do is top notch and nothing short of amazing. I would recommend them to anybody in San Diego who needs remodeling, pool, or landscape work.

They where working on my neighbors property and the results were amazing. They are very fair with amazing pricing. The neighbors yard turned out so beautiful that I had to give them a call and get mine done. 10/10 the best in the business. Give Ben a call he has you covered.

If you want broken rocks, significantly cracked concrete, split grout and faulty design and workmanship, Ocean Blue Pools & Landscaping is for you. And, if you want a contractor who says he will do repairs and revokes his promise because he likes to "test" his customers (I guess to see what it takes for them to crack - like his concrete), Ben is your guy. Save yourself the stress and disappointment (and cost) of going with a bad contractor. Look for a quality business that will stand behind their work for your pool and landscaping needs.

We had been talking about building a pool for years and finally decided to move forward last summer. We reached out to three different pool companies, including Zier Pools, to get ideas and proposals. The experiences couldn’t have been more different.

One company scheduled an appointment and never showed up. Another came out but was unprofessional, promised a proposal for a lagoon-style pool, and then completely disappeared. Then there was Zier Pools, they set the standard from the very beginning.

Tim Brown came to our home, carefully assessed our yard, and suggested a pool design that actually gave us more usable yard space than the lagoon style we initially had in mind. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to answer every question we had. When we met with him at their office, he had a detailed, professional proposal ready to go and walked us through every step of the process, including costs, timeline, payment schedule, without any pressure whatsoever.

From that point on, the experience only got better. The construction process was smooth, and every crew Zier brought in was top-notch. One thing we especially appreciated was the group text Tim set up with us, so that every phase was clearly communicated, and any questions we had were answered quickly.

We can honestly say the entire process exceeded our expectations. Our pool turned out absolutely gorgeous, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

Zier Pools installed our gorgeous pool and patio over the winter and spring, and we are so happy to recommend them to others. We did a lot of research and narrowed our search down to three pool installation companies. We ultimately chose Zier (and Tim Brown, Zier's project manager on our project) because of the transparency, the pool design based on our answers to their questions on how we would use the pool, the delivered 3D pool animation etc, and Tim's willingness to work with us to try to stay within budget.

This was such a huge project, with many tentacles and decisions to be made along the way. Tim helped us focus on what was most important at each phase and made sure we understood all the options and impact on budget. We especially appreciated Tim's active involvement on the project, with almost weekly site visits, and one-pagers to get us ready for each major construction phase - detailing what to expect, what decisions need to be made, etc. He was also very patient with us as we made some mid-project adjustments. Along the way, he helped us envision the possibilities within our budget (of which there were many!) and also informed us of some possibilities that were just out of the budget but that he sensed we might like if we could stretch the budget slightly. In all, we stayed within budget -- going for a couple small upgrades, offset by a couple of places to cut due to our mid-project design change.

Finally, we appreciated the billing transparency. All costs at each phase were broken down in detail, including the amount of material (tile, pebble finish, turf, pavers, etc.). When we noticed a discrepancy in the amount of material installed vs one invoice, we brought this to Tim's attention and he graciously came out to re-measure, acknowledged the error and credited the savings to our next invoice. It's important to note that the discrepancy was an easy mistake to make, as it was due to our revisions on pavers and turf late in the process.

We'd be happy to talk to anyone interested about our experience with Tim and Zier Pools. This monster of a project was made so much simpler by Tim and his process, and the results are fantastic!

We had a great experience with Zier Pools. Matt was so helpful. The reason we needed up choosing them was because Matt was there every step of the way. There were no third parties, everything was through Zier. We were initially told 5-6 months and it was completed in about 3.

We had our first meeting with Matt B. and Zier Pools in May of 2023 and just finished our backyard project a couple months ago (March 2024). Matt and his team made the entire process enjoyable (as construction can be) and the outcome more than we envisioned.

We began our backyard transformation journey by meeting with at least three different pool builders and landscape designers. Immediately after meeting with Matt, and seeing his proposed design, we knew that we didn’t need to speak with anyone else. We quickly felt that we could trust Matt and his team. He communicated clearly and often, set expectations, and was accountable for every aspect of the project from start to finish. While it’s obvious he is quite busy, Matt communicates proactively and will always return a missed call.

From the very first meeting, Matt was clear that we were entering a long-term relationship. He stressed that both sides needed to feel comfortable and in sync. He was explicit with what our responsibilities were, what his responsibilities were, but still provided great help with those aspects outside of Zier’s purview (such as HOA approvals). He also gave us great recommendations for third parties needed for side projects (such as landscaping and tree removal services).

Personally, I am someone who is extremely detail oriented, needs to know how every aspect of the project was being done, and is uncomfortable not being in control. Coupled with my work-from-home situation, which allowed me to watch the project unfold every single day, the thought of yielding control over a project this large was anxiety-inducing. However, I quickly became comfortable with Matt’s communication style, transparency, and honesty. He was happy to explain each part of the process to me in incredible detail, answer any questions I had, and he continued to set (and reset, when necessary) expectations throughout the entire project.

Once construction began, we were thrilled to see the level of care everyone paid our new home and backyard project. Each and every crew member was careful, respectful, and very pleasant to interact with when we crossed paths. With any project of this size, there were bound to be unexpected hurdles and challenges. Matt informed us of all of these possibilities in advance, telling us more than once, “I want to avoid the potential for any surprises.” Just another way in which Matt reinforced the trust that we placed in him.

With every decision point, and there are many, Matt provided recommendations, guidance, and cautions while allowing us to make our own decisions and not influencing us in any way. He provided context about what he has seen work well, what doesn’t work so well, and what other customers liked/disliked. He was also direct about the pros and cons of any additions or options that came up as the project evolved, allowing us to make informed decisions. During a process with so many permanent decisions to be made, his guidance was invaluable.

The final product is more than we could have imagined when we started. Matt and team helped us to adjust our initial vision into something even better, and made it a reality. Without a doubt, we would recommend Matt and Zier Pools to anyone looking for a pool/hardscape project. Our only regret is not being better Spanish speakers so we could communicate our gratitude and admiration to the many people who spent countless hours and immense energy helping to make our dream a reality.

I checked out several pool companies before deciding on Zier Pools. They were awesome from start to finish. At each step they let us know what to expect and their time line.

Here is the part that really matters to me. We had a few hiccups and they resolved it immediately. When you have a big pool projects things can happen but what's important is how it gets resolved.

We have had our pool for a little less than a year and it's absolutely stunning. Our pool guy noticed a leak in the pool pump. I called Tim at Zier Pools and he told me to simply go to a link and state what's going on and it immediately got resolved through the warranty.

We couldn't be happier with how our pool built by Zier Pools turned out. From the initial consult with Andrew and Jay, we knew right away that they were the company we could trust to turn our backyard into the ultimate hang out spot. Andrew and Jay had ideas for our backyard that we hadn't thought of and that other pool companies didn't come up with. Being a family owned company we could tell they took pride in what they did and we could feel their enthusiasm during the consultations.

The process was easy. They presented their 3D rendering of how they had envisioned our backyard we had few minor tweaks and the process was underway.

Zier Pools started construction immediately after receiving our permit back from the county. Everyone, from their subcontractors to all their employees were professional, efficient, and always cleaned up after themselves.

Jay and Andrew were always very responsive to phone calls and texts throughout the process to address any questions or concerns we had. They also even took video of construction and sent it to us while we were out of town for 2 weeks to show us how construction was progressing.

The final result was better than how we imagined it. The pool, concrete work, retaining walls all tied in beautifully to our existing yard. We love our new pool and owe all it all to Zier. Thank you!
