We have a property in one of the more upscale and high-trafficked neighborhoods in San Francisco. This is a blessing and curse. Parking is always a struggle, the neighbors have very high expectations, and there are many space constraints. All of these challenges presented frustrations and setbacks that required patience and persistence. We also wanted to finish our landscape project quickly, so we turned to Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape. We asked for their best designer and Steve Turner came out to assess the project. He recognized the biggest challenge was access to the backyard which was a challenge due to it's narrow limited space.

We appreciate that Steve was supported by Alejandra Cabrera, who coordinated logistics from the headquarters. This project had many obstacles and the crews led by Ruben Ramerez and Jose Perez got it done as fast as they could (given all the moving parts). Jose made sure the demolition was efficient and Ruben took care of the installation of paver stones, steps, synthetic lawn, wall, stucco, lights, plants, and irrigation.

Steve came every day to check, and that is the only way to make sure it is done right. A designer really needs to pay attention to the details. Our expectations were to have an elegant design that created more space. Steve was able to deliver that and more. This looks like a completely different environment now. It is striking, yet simple. The lighting is understated, but clearly defines the changes in levels. If exceptional design is important to you, then ask for Steve when you call Black Diamond.

I highly recommend Steve as the designer and of course there are always issues that come up with any project but Steve keep us updated along the entire process as I was traveling and everything turned out exactly like the design and better!

We decided to get our backyard landscaping done and started our search on the internet. Black Diamond Landscape stood out from the pack with their high rating and amazing custom reviews. I was initially planning to do a concrete retaining wall in my backyard thinking that it was the most cost effective compare to segmented walls. After meeting with Steve Turner project designer for Black Diamond I found out that segmented walls are actually cheaper due to less labor cost. I received multiple estimates but I was very impress with Steve Turner attention to detail, presentation, knowledge, professionalism, pressure free, patience, and work ethic. Steve worked with our budget and always picked up our daily annoying phone calls. There was a little bump on the initial phase of the project when the initial crew (Octavo's team) didn't follow Steve's design and wasn't living up to the Black Diamond standard which caused some stress. Steve Turner/Black Diamond worked very to remedy the situation and gained back our trust/confidence which was deeply appreciated. Steve Turner/Black Diamond assigned us a new crew (Andreina Serrano's team) and her crew was excellent. The crew's attention to detail was impressive. Her team surgically face transplant my backyard into a model backyard. Steve Turner will literally see your project from beginning to end to make sure it's done right and he will do whatever it takes to make sure the customer demand are met. (dig dirt, demands that the crew cleans up, talk to you neighbors if they have some concern about your project). I also would like to mentioned and thank Steve's partner Seven who is also very smart and they complement each other well. I am very happy with my backyard and already thinking about my front and side yard project with Black Diamond. They are very affordable high quality company. To end this review I personally recommend that Black Diamond give Steve Turner and Seven the following: huge raise, extra bonus, and standing ovation

Black Diamond recently finished our backyard project.  We were looking to eliminate mud and places for our dog to dig in the rainy months.  I found them on Yelp and Steve Turner (designer) came to our house and came up with a design within our budget and more functional and attractive than we had envisioned. Steve is very professional and easy to work with and made sure we were happy with the project the entire way through, he knew we had a budget and completed part of the demo and finish work himself and delivered some recycled blocks to shore up a retaining wall that was not within the initial scope of the project.  Once the crew was available the project moved quickly and was completed ahead of the estimated finish time (Demo foreman Flavio and Installed by Augustin's crew - very professional). We were very impressed with the cleanliness throughout the entire project.  From beginning to end we felt Steve wanted to ensure we were happy with the process, progress and finished project.  We love our new yard!!

Finally we finished the front yard hardscape installation project. It took us a year from planning to executing. No construction project goes on time and without waiting for the missing materials. We are glad it's all over. Thanks to Elton Pang clear communication and follow through and his Ruben's crew is on par. They listen and address all the issues we came up with.

It was time to get rid of the weeded front yard and old driveway and to update the backyard. Steve T. made a design that we fell in love with. Herringbone pattern on the driveway, A sculpted succulent garden in the front yard, and 3 lighted planters in the backyard. He took care of the permitting with the city and got his team to work. Steve was here every day to take care of any issues that came up and to keep the project moving forward. After the project was done, we found that a couple of the capstones on the back planter were loose (thank you Daly City moisture). Steve had his crew come out and fix them - Great customer service!
We now love our yard, and it puts a smile on my face when I come home.

We recently landscaped our front yard and installed pavers, artificial turf and landscaping. Rocco was our project manager and did an outstanding job helping us with the design and modifications we made as we went along. He did an amazing job overseeing the staff. The Black Diamond employees were polite, neat and efficient. We would give Rocco and his team a five star rating *****!

From the start we worked with Elton, our project manager, who gave us a design rendering of what we could expect the outcome to be, something we didn't get from the other companies we got quotes from. He was on our site several times during the construction checking out the progress and workmanship of the crew. The crew, led by Reuben, were great! They were very hard workers and cleaned up every night before leaving the site. We had our driveway done in pavers as well as our walkway up to our house. In addition we had our front steps and patio redone in porcelain tiles and planter boxes added to the front of our house using grey blocks. It totally transformed our house! It will look even better once we add plants to those boxes. It looks fantastic at night when the lights that were added are turned on.

I had the pleasure of working with Sahar on my backyard landscaping project. Although my project wasn’t very large, she handled it with great care and attention to detail. She also offered thoughtful suggestions that were both cost and time efficient, which I truly appreciated. Sahar is knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated. I would absolutely work with her and Black Diamond again.

Steve Turner and the Black Diamond landscaping crews did a fabulous job shepherding us through our front and back yard projects. Steve is a good listener, and he is also terrific a developing a workable plan. With his help we settled on a mix of gravel, boulders, and succulents—and at each stage he met with us to pick the right materials. His work crews were exceptional—I can’t praise them enough. When the job was done Steve made sure we were pleased with the results before signing off. Black Diamond is by far the best landscaping company we have worked with.

After remodeling our home, we decided to interview Black Diamond for our front driveway and backyard hardscaping. We were assigned Rocco as our designer and project manager. He was amazing when it came to ideas and creative solutions that would work for our budget.

When our project started, Rocco visited the site everyday to make sure everything was being done correctly and to help out his crew. We would often see him help sweep up at the end of day, after speaking with us and the crew for what went well that day.

We are very pleased with the design and installation of our turf, retaining wall, pavers, and driveway. We would not have such a great result without Rocco and the crew. We want to thank Rocco for his project management and his crew for doing such a great job.

I sought bids from many contractors and the bid from BDPS&L was the most thorough and reasonable. My project was to build two retaining walls, a stairway, and a patio. It was especially challenging because I live on the side of a canyon and all the rock and pavers had to be carried down 3 flights of stairways. Rocco, the account manager, was very hands-on and kept me informed of everything that was happening. The crews were terrific - very professional and did excellent work. I highly recommend Black Diamond Paver and I would hire them again for additional projects.

Rocco and the black diamond team of installers did a fantastic job on our patio, seating wall, steps and artificial turf. The team was skilled and worked quickly making fast progress over several weeks. The design Rocco prepared turned out great and we are very happy with the appearance. We hired Black Diamond earlier this year for
- paving our front and side yards with permeable pavers
- putting in a lawn in our backyard
- designing and planting a "succulent garden" with boulders along our driveway
- planting 2 new trees
- installing a 6-zone irrigation/sprinkler system and controller

Steve T. was the project manager we worked with. He helped us choose the paver design, the succulents, and the choice of grass. He designed the succulent garden. He came out on site many times before and after each stage of the project to make sure the materials were ready and sufficient in quantity and the site was prepared, safe, and ready for work. He was very transparent, responsive, and communicative. It's been a pleasure working with Steve.

Black Diamond's crews were also easy to work with. They did everything my wife and I requested.

We had not done permeable pavers before but the result is great. We are able to extend the parking area of our front yard with permeable pavers, as there's a limit to how much we can cover with concrete. After the latest major rainstorm, the paved front yard and side yard are dry.

The succulent garden is also thriving well. We are seeing new and vibrant colors developing.

We wanted go get rid of our grass in our side yard and have a bigger seating area. We decided to work with Black Diamond and specifically Rocco as our contact and project lead. From start to finish he impressed us with his professionalism, his eye for detail and his ability to quickly come up with a solution for any unforeseen issue that fit our budget. He is a pleasure to work with. He checked in with his team daily and also helped out himself when needed. We are extremely happy with how our pool area project turned out. From start to finish, we had consistent communication and were kept in the loop about any changes or issues that came up. Our Project Manager, Rocco, kept everything moving without interruption and provided his expertise on design. Marvin and his team were excellent and took special care around the pool to make sure nothing was damaged during demo and install. Overall, we're beyond satisfied with the job they did and are loving the new pool area!

We hired Black Diamond to install a walkway and patio, pluse sprinklers in an adjacent area and outdoor lighting in 3 different areas of our property. They did an amazing job!
Elton was our designer. He came up with really great designs and was very willing to iterate on the designs until we got to the final design that we were really liked. Because of his experience, he incorporated into the design things we hadn't thought of and his schematics were rock solid.
The foreman, Ruben, and the two others on the job, Jose and Jesus did excellent work. They did precision work installing the patio and walkways, which had a somewhat complicated paver design. They also did a great job installing the sprinkler system and the outdoor lighting. All 3 of them were also easy to work with, good communicators and picked up the job site daily before leaving.
We would definitely use Black Diamond again. We highly recommend them.
