My second major project in three years has just been completed by Clough Construction, and I am thrilled!
It includes a new fence encircling my front yard, a large front porch, entryway and arbor, and a small back porch, as well as two gates and three sets of steps.
The foreman, Quinn, and workers Salvador and Maynor, were so professional, competent, hardworking, courteous and friendly - it truly was a pleasure to have them around! I can say the same about every other individual involved, who participated at various times.
My experience with Clough Construction has been extremely positive, and I highly recommend them!

Clough Construction did an outstanding job on our project and they were so, so easy to work with. The on-site AND office staff are communicative, kind, quick, and thorough.

We needed to install new railings in our yard for insurance purposes and were nervous about how it might change the look of the yard. Clough installed BEAUTIFUL railings that look as if they have always been there. The quality and workmanship are unbelievable. Clough also repaired a small retaining wall in the yard and made it look 10 times better than it looked before.

Honestly, I wish I could hire Clough for everything home repair related because they are so great to work with. We will definitely work with them again.

We hired Clough Construction to fix our broken fence and create a design on the part of the broken fence that would look aesthetically beautiful and yet be functional and sturdy. They also built a gate so our dogs cannot escape. I told them my idea for a hogwire fence on our porch. They created the most gorgeous hogwire fence to surround our porch and found the perfect gate hardware. The work paid attention to every detail and showed the level of craftsmanship that they produce. The crew, Mark, Jorge and Geoff, showed up on time, worked hard, and helped with suggestions and were open to creatively working with my ideas and preferences. They were also super efficient and finished the job within the week. Their work is craftsmanship and not just something thrown together. I'm super happy with the work Clough did and I know my fence and gates will last a long time! Scott Clough helped with the design and measurements and the quote and timeline matched the work done. I recommend Clough Construction to anyone. Their professionalism, craftsmanship and experience is excellent.

We hired Clough again to help us build stairs off our back door. We had torn down an old deck and needed a landing and stairs. Scott came out and created a beautiful design. Then Marc and Salvador came out and built the most gorgeous set of stairs which really complements our backyard. Marc then helped me choose the correct stair lights and he installed them. We’re now ready for landscaping. Clough was always on time and scheduled the job around our timeframe. They are highly professional and skilled. I recommend them to everyone. Working with Deanne is a joy. She is always helpful and clear about the pricing and schedule.

Finding good contractors in Marine turns out to be harder than it should be. Some fail to show up for appointments while others just won’t follow-up afterwards...
Fortunately, we came across Clough Construction, and I have to say that this was one of the better experiences we had with any contractor over the last few years.
We have been working with Clough on a recent project that involved replacing a failing deck support post reaching up to a deck attached to the second level of the house which required a new concrete support footing, as well as building a new redwood deck towards the back of the house.
Communication from Scott and Deanne was exemplary. Scott immediately put us at ease with his experience and understanding of what we wanted to accomplish, and his bid was very fair. Deanne was in constant contact regarding the scheduling and was checking in on a regular basis to make sure everything went according to plan.
Getting the permits from the city, as well as all passing the inspections went very smoothly. It was obvious that these guys knew how to manage the process.
The team, consisting mainly of Quinn and Lowell, worked very hard and really well together and were professional, punctual, and most of all master craftsmen that take pride in their work. In addition, they were extremely personable and fun to work with. They had a great attitude and held on to the motto of "let's do what it takes to make our clients happy". At the end, they built a beautiful deck that greatly enhanced our backyard, and they did it in the originally proposed timeframe. They even found the time to proactively fix some issues with our existing deck without charging extra for the work.
We are extremely happy with the result and would whole-heartedly recommend Clough to anyone.

I received several bids to replace my deck, and thankfully Clough Construction was one of them. They weren’t the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but they were by far the most professional. From my first meeting with Scott Clough, I felt I was in capable hands, and that impression held true throughout the project.

The Clough team did an outstanding job, with an impressive attention to detail. Beyond the beautiful deck they built, one gesture really stood out: during the process, they had to remove an old gate. When the project was finished, they went the extra mile and crafted a new gate to replace the aging one. It was an unexpected and thoughtful touch; I’m a raving fan!

If you’re getting bids, make sure Clough Construction is on your list. Throughout the project, Deanne Clough, checked in to make sure everything was on track as well. The whole process was efficient and excellently organized. Highly recommended!

Working with Scott, Mark, and the team at Clough Construction was an amazing experience. Our project was complicated as we had an existing failing cantilever deck that was built over a hillside 30ft into the air. They re-designed and built a new deck that we now use daily! Their team were so easy to work with through the entire process. From demo of the existing deck to building an entirely new deck on a hillside, the team were confident, kind, and wonderful to have around each day! They minimized the noise, and we have received so many compliments from our neighbors about how polite and professional the team were. We will be working with Clough again on future deck projects!

Clough Construction recently fixed a sinking deck post and leaning gate frame, built by another contractor, that was threatening to pull down a small deck alongside our house. Scott Clough identified the problem and designed the correct plan to fix it. Quinn and Aniceto did an excellent job doing the actual work on site. We were very pleased with their work on this project as we have been on several prior projects, and highly recommend them.

Clough installed a custom glass railing in our backyard that is on the water and did an amazing job. They also installed 2 side gates on the side of the house as well as a gate on one end of the water front for access. They were professional, timely and high quality of work. I highly recommend them for any fencing needs!

Clough Construction repaired my fallen fence with the utmost professionalism & craftsmanship. This group is the epitome of a healthy & thriving family business. All their foremen have been with them between 10-35 years and I can see why. Deanne Clough called me at every step of construction with detailed information & prepared to answer all my questions. Scott Clough came out to provide our estimate, timeframe of completion and to approve completion at the end. Rafael was the sparkling gem during the entire 4 day experience. Rafael, our Foreman, is the kindest, most friendly, patient & confident human you’d ever wish to be handling any situation. When folks say “ you choose your tribe”, I would heartily choose all of these Clough family employees to share meals at my table. Even when my dogs came outside to greet the men each morning, Rafael stopped for a moment to return the greeting to them. I think Rafael is one of those angels among us you hear about. You’d WANT him around all the time! He brought the respect & confidence to the job but always maintained uplifting positivity. Closing this company is a no-brainer. In a world with so much turmoil, Clough brings peace. I’m a first time customer and incredibly grateful for the gorgeous fence!

Our house has 1000 sq ft of decking over three levels and we have lived here for over 15 years.  I have I used Clough Construction in the past for smaller maintenance projects, to replace beams and gates, and they have always been excellent.

So when it came time to do an expansive project to replace all of the old railings with modern Feeney cable railings, as well as rebuild two sets of stairs between our upper, middle and lower decks.  It was an easy decision to call Clough Construction for the project.  I did not even get any other bids, as I already had confidence in their work quality!

The Clough Construction team are very easy to work with and put clients first at every step of the way.  Deanne follows up on a regular basis to make sure you are happy and Scott is flexible to work with as project changes inevitably come up.

The team were onsite for 6 weeks as it was a significant amount of work.  The job site was always kept clean, Quinn and Lull's work ethic was exception and their attention to detail was second to none.  They really are master carpenters.We have had many compliments on the finished work and could not be happier with it.  Whenever I need any decking or fencing work, I always call Clough!

Where do I begin? I am not sure I have enough words to adequately describe how completely and utterly DELIGHTED I am with EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of the remodel that Clough Construction did on my decrepit old 1960’s deck and railing. Such an amazing experience working with Scott and Deanne, as well as their team Quinn, Salvador and Oscon. They were professional, courteous, transparent, and accommodating. The estimate was very fair for the work required. Quinn was fantastic to work with and always kept me informed throughout the entire process. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship were exceptional. Clough Construction designs their decks to last, and most importantly, their decks must be safe. We had a project related to our existing deck. From the moment we contacted Scott and Deanne, everything went smoothly. They were fantastic to work with, and the contract they provided was incredibly detailed and professional. The final price was exactly what they quoted.

The team that did the work, Quinn and Salvador, are absolute rockstars. They are a phenomenal team. Not only is their work flawless, but they were also just a joy to have at our home—so kind, professional, timely, and incredibly hard-working.

On top of the great work, Clough Construction is in a league of their own with communication. After the job was complete, we received a call to ensure we were happy, and a handwritten thank-you note in the mail. This was unexpected, but goes a long way.

Clough Construction just finished rebuilding my upper deck with sustainable composite TimberTech decking and it is gorgeous! The entire process from estimate to design, to permitting to building was well-organized and went smoothly. Deanne and Scott Clough are very customer-focused and responsive. Quinn and Lowell made it all happen, they are highly skilled craftsmen and creative problem solvers. My house is older, on a hill, and nothing seemed to be plumb or straight. Somehow, they managed to make it all line up perfectly. As they got into the project things turned up that were unexpected or visually needed some additional construction. For example, the original plan only had fascia below the railing along the TimberTech part of the deck; Quinn decided to extend it along the entire length of the deck that includes the top of the garage as he felt it would look unfinished with the original design. They also decided to make sure the deck would be safe for my small chihuahua and spaced the fortress pickets closer than code so he couldn’t squeeze through. Once it was built I was concerned that the dog might still get stuck in the corners so they came back and created an innovative design with a picket at each corner – it looks amazing! All these modifications were done without a relentless flurry of cost adjustments that often happens on big projects. I couldn’t be happier with my new deck and highly recommend Clough Construction. We loved working with the entire Clough Construction team. Clough was extremely professional, responsive, and helped us choose the best material for our needs. Deanne and Scott were an absolute pleasure to work with and our new balcony/deck turned out stunning. We couldn't be happier with the final product. The team, Quinn and Lowell, worked really hard and kept my husband and I informed throughout the process, which we really appreciated. Even when there were delays outside of their control, Quinn and Lowell, really worked hard to make sure our deck was completed before the year end. Working with Clough Construction, and Marc and his team, in particular, was a great experience. We now have a beautiful deck. It was not an easy job either. The deck is up quite a steep slope in Baltimore Canyon, but they had no problem. On top of the great work that they did, it was a huge help that they could do the layout drafting, permitting and inspections with the City of Larkspur. The Clough family was a really pleasure to work with. If they were neighbors, we would definitely be having them over to enjoy our lovely deck!!

The owners, Scott and Deanne and their friendly staff seamlessly orchestrated our project with clear, consistent and thorough communication, and completed it on time and on budget. We had an amazing, talented foreman, Rick and his dedicated crew (Braulio, Geoff and Forest) who were not only hard working, professional and skilled craftsmen, but so nice to have here for the duration of the project and our neighbors appreciated how respectful they were. Their attention to detail was meticulous, and every part was beautifully completed with integrity. It was very clear from the start they take great pride in their work and are creative in their approach resulting in an absolutely gorgeous deck! Our engineer said it was one of the best decks he’s seen.

We cannot believe we not only have this absolutely stunning deck but it also represents our ideals. After reading about Clough’s dedication to sustainability we knew they would respect the intrinsic value of using the wood harvested from our 100 year old Redwood tree that had stood on our property. They were able to skillfully incorporate it with wood sourced from a sustainable forest (FSC lumber) creating an exquisite deck celebrating function, beauty and viability. Without hesitation we would unequivocally recommend Clough Construction. We hope to have them back to build our fence.

UPDATED REVIEW: In July 2025, we hired Clough Construction again, this time to help us fire harden our home. We needed to replace the wooden gates attached to the side of our home with metal gates. We looked around a lot to find metal gates that would look good, be reasonably priced of high quality, and maintain the privacy we had with the wooden gates.

I remembered the great experience we had with Clough Construction, and sure enough, they had exactly what we were looking for. The Clough Construction crew were professional as always and did a fantastic (and quick!) job taking down our wooden gates and putting up gorgeous metal gates in their place. They did a great job cleaning up the job site as well.

We knew we needed to replace the wooden gates next to the house for fire safety, but I could not totally envision how it would look when it was done. Our new metal gates have been in place for several months now, and we are thrilled with them. Clough Construction does such high-quality work. Additionally, the metal gates look great, and we did not lose any of our privacy. Once again, Clough Construction did an A++ job. Thank you so much, Clough Construction!

Clough Construction does absolutely incredible work at a very competitive price. We had them replace about 200 feet of fence (that we share with two different neighbors) that was falling down. Clough Construction made the whole process so easy! They are fast & efficient and do beautiful, high quality work. They were careful with our trees and plants. They left our yard clean at the end of each day that they were here. And on top of all of this, we absolutely love our new fence -- it is gorgeous! Plus, everyone with whom we worked -- from Scott and Deanne Clough to foreman Raphael to the guys in the crew -- was so nice and professional. We are huge fans of Clough Construction based on our experience!

Clough has built 3 fences for us. Deanne Clough (in the office) and Scott Clough (in the field), are both knowledgeable and personable. The job site was always kept tidy, the jobs were done quickly, and the workmanship always beautiful. Highly recommend this company.
