Contractor reviews in Denver, Colorado

I've had David on two completely different projects. Several years ago he did some remodel work on our house. Great work done on time for what he said it'd cost.
Most recently, David helped me build my brewery (Goldspot Brewing Company). I was alongside David for all of the framing work. The attention to detail and desire to do things right (even when i wanted to cut corners and get the heck outta there) were awesome.
We had a few problems with our electrical contractor and David stayed on him to get the job done.
I've referred David to a few of my brewery contacts and he's been helping them, as well. I'd definitely hire him again. -
L&D just completed our ADU project and we could not be more pleased with the company, the process and the finished product. Their management team Sarah, David (owner), Ryder and Clayton were 100% accessible throughout the entire process and addressed any concerns or questions quickly and without ever making us feel like we were a burden or that our questions were naive (which they usually were). They gave thoughtful consideration to help us with design ideas and mechanical solutions from the design phase through the finishing touches.
They broke ground in mid-January and by June 1 the project was completed, on-time and on-budget. Ryder was on-site frequently to see that everything was done right.
One of the things that struck me most was the respect and admiration L&D has from their contractors. Every contractor I spoke with commented on the level of detail and quality expected of them by L&D. And it showed 100% in the work they did.
I can't recommend L&D highly enough and would be happy to speak to anyone considering building an ADU about our experience! -
L & D did a fanstic job on completing our assisted living facility. They stuck to a very aggressive timeline. David was excellent in working with the local city inspectors to ensure that we kept the project moving forward. I would highly recommend L & D construction for any commercial project moving forward.

David Schulz and his several subcontractors were excellent. The work they did was done within the time predicted. Their arrivals were on time, and their work was very well done. Ours is an older home, and the powder room they created from a part of our existing butler pantry looks as though it was part of the original. Any of the few issues or questions we had were addressed more than satisfactorily and timely, and certainly we would recommend (and have recommended) L & D to anyone needing remodeling, updating, or other work.

In 2009, I purchased a disheveled carriage house in the Lower Highlands neighborhood and began fixing it up. After nearly 5 years of constant construction, headaches, and 100's of trips to Home Depot, I came to my senses and was referred to Dave Schultz at L&D. Dave, his team and his sub-contractors had impeccable vision for how bring my major remodel project to completion while salvaging the character of my 1890 carriage house. The results have been fantastic and I could not have been happier with Dave and his team throughout the entire process.
Great vision, incredibly responsive, high quality work and craftsmanship, cost conscious, prompt, respectful, hardworking, innovative and reasonably priced. I plan to use Dave and his team for an eventual garage project and a kitchen remodel in the very near future. I would highly recommend this group to anyone looking for an exceptional contractor for their project. You will not be disappointed. -
My wife and I hired David to put a powder room in our basement. He was very responsive and kept us up to date on the progress. He was also very helpful with suggestions on what would work best for the space we had. The project finished in a timely manner and very close to the budget from the estimate. The powder room looks fantastic and now we have decided to have him upgrade our master bathroom as well. I would highly recommend David.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!
My wife and I were in the market for a contractor to do an addition off of the back side of our 1892 Victorian home in Sloan's Lake area. We were planning on doing a sunroom, basement and rooftop deck.
We interviewed a bunch of contractors for what was a pretty good sized project. David Schultz is the owner of the company and from the outset he won us over with his communication skills, thoroughness and ability to solve problems.
Throughout the project we were reminded that we made the RIGHT decision. The project had its wrinkles (as is especially the case with older homes) but on each occasion, David listened to us, explained options and plans well...and ultimately ended up doing a great job. We wanted to do the project right, with quality and he helped us do that.
Plus, when there were instances of us wanting to change or revise the plan/approach/materials, David listened well and presented good options.
We can tell that David (and Ryder, his 2nd in command) took the time to do things right. They care about the quality of the work they do and they demand it from their subcontractors as well.
In summary, if you are looking for someone do work on your home, do a renovation...or BUILD you a new home, we would recommend L&D Construction very highly. -
David and his crew replaced the windows in our over 100 year old house and did a fantastic job. David also referred us to a crew he uses for internal/external painting and they did a great job for us as well. It is evident that David holds himself and his associates to a high standard and it is reflected in the quality of their work. I would highly recommend working with L & D Construction.

We feel so fortunate to have worked with L&D on our ADU project! Integrity and craftsmanship, combined with an excellent online communication system, make their personable construction crew the best. They are amazing problem solvers, creative thinkers, skilled craftspeople, and we wish we had known about their design/build program before we started our process. Even when there were inevitable bumps in the road, they were willing to do whatever they could to get it right. Overall, it was a very efficient, smooth build- went faster than we ever imagined! We loved collaborating with them, our ADU is gorgeous, and we couldn't recommend them more.

I had a great experience working with David. He led a total remodel of my 1905 row-home. Throughout the process he was exceptionally thoughtful about design decisions and dedicated to creating a finished product that we would be happy with. Additionally, I was really impressed with the professionalism of his subcontractors. Overall, I highly recommend L&D Construction.

Building an Accessory Dwelling Unit with L&D was a fantastic experience! We finished our ADU a month ago and couldn't be happier with our completed project. David, Sarah, Adam, & Clayton were detailed oriented, organized, client-focused, and made the building process easy from start to finish.
Sarah did an excellent job with permitting and communicating with the City of Denver (something we were relieved to not manage ourselves). In addition to coordinating demolition permits, Water/Sewer/Gas/Electrical, and other red-tape, Sarah also helped us secure a rebate from Denver Water for changing out our Water Tap.
Clayton helped us order materials and price-out selections based on preference and budget. Despite supply-chain delays during COVID, Clayton was able to ensure building materials arrived ontime and in good condition.
David - President of L&D - worked with our architect to ensure plans translated from paper to reality. His team at SimpleHomes built our ADU inside their warehouse in North Denver, then erected the building in one-day (using a crane to move walls & joists from a flatbed truck into position on our foundation). It was reassuring to have David onsite to ensure the framing and the crane operation went smoothly.
Adam, the Onsite Superintendent, is excellent at his job. We trusted Adam to ensure work would get done on schedule and within budget. Adam's communication, attention to detail, and work ethic are commendable. While other Superintendents might show-up occasionally to manage subcontractors, Adam was present nearly every day and kept us informed with progress reports and creative solutions.
Overall, We highly recommend L&D and would gladly contract with them again. Our finished project is high-quality, well-constructed, and an excellent addition to our property. -
We hired L&D Construction after a horrible experience with our previous contractor on our commercial restaurant space in the Lower Highlands and couldn't have been happier from day one.
David is an excellent communicator and was always able to be reached by phone, text, or email. He and his subcontractors worked efficiently and cost-effectively throughout the entire process and we were able to meet our final deadline and stay within our budget. He is an honest and completely trustworthy professional and we can't recommend both he and his work enough.
We are already planning the construction on our second location and will not think twice about re-hiring L&D Construction! Thank you for everything you have done for Prosperoats! -
L & D did the tenant improvement build-out for my business and I had a great experience start to finish. David did an excellent job converting our architect's drawings to the finished product we have today, and he did so at a very reasonable price point. Also, there's something to be said for a GC that offers great customer service. I was always able to get in touch with him about any questions/concerns I had. Same goes for Ryder who was foreman for our build-out. Really impressed with L&D's team. Overall L&D is run by good people who are dedicated to quality and customer service. And not only did they come to the table with a very competitive price, they brought in very talented builders to ensure a high-quality finished product. Thanks guys!

We could not be happier with the process and final product from L & D Enterprises following our full basement remodel, including a bathroom, bedroom, build in cabinetry and a wet bar. David Schultz was transparent throughout the entire process from bid to completion. He conveyed expectations, pricing, overall process, and schedule clearly and openly. David took our project and thought about it as if it was his own home when presenting us with decisions and options. His team and his attention to detail and overall workmanship completely exceeded our expectations. We would recommend L & D Enterprises without reservation and will call on David again for future projects.

When we were looking for someone to build our ADU I called one of L&D's clients. Before I even finished my question they said "Hire them!". We are so glad we did. They worked with the city and our architect to save us money on a better design. The city took forever on the permitting and without David it may have never been done. Ryder was always there to make sure everything was done right. He kept the crew focused and had great attention to detail. He and David had excellent advice on design, mechanical options, layout, and just about everything else. We always felt like they listened to our concerns and if we had an issue we knew that David, Sarah, or Ryder were going to get it solved. Their sub contractors were equally amazing. Several of them even told us how great it is working for David. Making changes was never a problem and if it wasn't a good idea they explained why.
I was expecting a drawn out construction process with lots of delays. None of that happened. The construction was the least stressful part of our project. David kept the project on time with a very aggressive schedule.
This company is honest and straightforward. If you're looking for cheap, these are not the guys. If you're looking for a good product, good workmanship, honesty and a good value, you can't go wrong. We've had so many compliments on our ADU and a big reason it turned out so nice was because of L&D. -
David Schultz of L & D Construction completed a major remodel for my husband and me after a clean water flood did extensive damage to our home. David was very hands on and did an excellent job being sure every detail was taken care of for us. We are both commercial brokers and had recommended David's services to several clients in the past with great results on their office remodeling projects. When the need arose we immediately thought of David. His easy going manner is deceiving, he always had everything running smoothly and makes every effort to keep you posted on the progress of your project. Our first floor as well as our basement had to be completely redone while we were still living in our two story house. The workmanship was excellent and thoughtfulness of his crews was very much appreciated. His crews are beyond competent, they are craftsmen and gentlemen. They made a tough personal situation much easier to live through. We recommend David and L & D highly and will hire them again as well as recommend them to our clients going forward.

It's been a year now since we hired David to do a remodel of our second garage into an office and workout room for myself. He was recommended to us from friends who were extremely happy with his work, and they weren't wrong. David (and Ryder) were both great communicators and up front about all decisions that needed to be made. The quality of the work was top notch and everything ended up just like we wanted it.
A year later and I can say I'm still really happy with the project, and beyond that, David has stepped up in a really big way and taken care of a repair that technically occurred outside the warranty period. He stands by his work and his reputation and I really applaud that. I will never hesitate to recommend him for any project in the Denver area. -
Strongly recommend L&D for construction. They were professional, timely, thorough, and responsible. The entire project went more smoothly than we could have hoped, from start to finish, and if something's not right, they'll fix it. Really grateful we went with L&D.

We do enjoy our home built by L&D. We purchased a new build in late 2022, so there has been ample time to get to know the house prior to leaving this review.
The overall design of the house is logical for the lot size and makes great use of space. It’s a unique space that gives us a lot of flexibility. L&D was easy to work with during the purchasing/closing process.
Main issues we have faced with the house concern quality control and attention to detail:
The brand new HVAC system was improperly installed and required partial replacement within 2 years. I was mostly frustrated that L&D wouldn’t offer any support when our HVAC broke down in the middle of the winter. It’s understandable that warranties were expired, but the issue was identified as a result of poor installation rather than manufacturing defect. Struggling to get the system replaced during below-0 temps was a bit scary.
It was also never considered that home internet would be required, which became a significant headache immediately after moving in - there was nowhere to run a line into the home.
In summary, love our home, but the house hasn’t been without its (at times, costly) issues. -
The L&D Construction team, David, Ryder, and Sarah worked with me to build an ADU (apartment over a 2 car garage) on my property in Denver. From start to finish they helped me plan and design, answering any questions I had along the way. Once construction started everything went very smooth. Any changes I needed to make were handled with an easy mobile platform and simple discussion with the guys. I am very happy with the ADU and have lived in it for about 6 months now, enabling me to rent out my main house. I highly recommend L&D!

L&D built our ADU in Congress Park. Couldn’t be happier with the result. And the team was great to work with along the way.
