Awful! It took them several weeks to even contact us from our Angie's list purchase. Then we approved the bid, late June and they didn't even come to do the work until the first week of August. We agreed to have the tree removed and the stump grinder so we could lay new sod, and fix the area up. Only after the tree was removed did they notice we had a utility box right by the tree (which I'm really not sure how they missed it the two other times they came over). They are now refusing to grind the stump and get rid of it. If we knew this was going to be an issue, we would have never agreed to take the tree out in the first place, we would have just kept trimming it. Now we have a large stump consuming an entire large corner of our home, and a bunch of wood shavings they never cleaned up. Paul the owner was uncooperative and unprofessional the entire time, and said it is my problem. Now I have to seek a legal remedy to recoup the money I spent on this horrible service!

Update; after talking to Paul the owner he is now saying it was our fault he did not notice the utility boxes because our dog was jumping on him and our kids were screaming. Then proceeded to call me the a..hole. This guy is a class act!

The team at Donovan Arborists has been caring for our trees for about three years, and every interaction with them is fantastic. They are incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and great to work with.

Excellent service! Paul and his team came out on a very windy day to remove an old cottonwood and trim two trees. Took guts to climb up that old tree on the wind! The process was thoughtfully done and when finished, my yard was completely cleaned up ( better than it was before they got there). They also gave me great advice for planting new trees next spring.
I will use this service again.

THANK YOU! As a homeowner we had the pleasure of using Paul and his crew for our trees. We had two dying red maples on our parkway and they took care of the trees along with grinding out the stumps. Very professional and they made sure the area wasn't disturbed. Clean up was fantastic. The bonus was that it was street sweeping on the opposite side of the street where we had placed our cars, he took the extra step and noticed this. We were able to avoid two tickets. I had three trees in need of care (a couple desperately) and a shrub/bush that needed removed. A friends neighbor referred Donovan arborists to me and I couldn’t be more pleased. They came to look at what I needed quickly, all the work done soon after and everything looked happy and healthy again. I would highly recommend them, my neighbor used a different company, they were more expensive and my trees look better (shape, how they are growing) and that other Co. kind of left a mess in their yard... my guys cleaned up! (I’m at work writing this, will post pics soon). Both the owner Paul and the main guy Phillip who trimmed the trees offered me a few easy tips I can do to help keep my trees happier, and a had suggestions of what I could plant in place of the shrub that will do well in CO and look cool too... knowledgeable!

What a great team of guys. Their work is outstanding. I have used Donovan Arborists personally as well as recommending them to our HOA for big jobs. They do a great job keeping our trees from breaking off from storm damage. Their bids accurately detail the scope of work, their team is knowledgeable, efficient and thorough, and clean up leaves behind no mess for us. Paul is so knowledgeable, that I am amazed his last name is not Bunyon!

Donovan Arborist to the rescue!! My neighbors tree fell on my house on a Saturday. Paul, the Owner and Certified Arborist, was at my house within 30 minutes and expertly got the tree off my house!! Paul is very knowledgeable and does a fantastic job!! I'm looking forward to getting my trees pruned later this year and I will only call Donovan Arborist to do the job!!

These guys are fantastic! We have been working with Donovan Arborists for a few years now to help us maintain and prune our existing trees, they are helping us manage our beautiful apple tree's bacterial disease and are assisting us with continually developing our privacy from neighbors with installing new trees each year.

Donovan Arborists has been super easy to work with - from calling to schedule maintenance or treatments to providing timely quotes for larger scale jobs and finally installing all agreed upon aspects of the contract on time. They have the friendliest employees - they always call to confirm appointments, show up in the allowed time frames and generally have a really fantastic expertise when it comes to caring for trees.

We had donovan arborists out for our last house to prune our HUGE maple tree. When we bought our current house, Paul came out and identified all the trees and shrubs for us, and helped us pick which ones were salvageable and which should go (the landscaping hadn't been watered in years and was a mess), and he and Mike and Greg are taking care of the new yard. They are always here on time, do what they say they are going to do when they say they'll do it, and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable

Last week, the Denver snow came in heavy & wet - fast and furious, breaking one of my favorite trees (a sour cherry tree in my front yard). The tree was badly damaged and I was afraid I'd be losing her - plus half of the tree was laying across the sidewalk and in my neighbor's yard. Donovan's was busy cleaning up the city - but Paul got me into the queue for the next morning... Philip showed up early, cleaned up everything. Everyone was super friendly and super professional... within 24 hours, my big nightmare became a non-issue... and they saved my tree! I'm so thankful! 5 stars, thumbs up, rainbows, butterflies and unicorns!!! These guys are great.

Paul Donovan has done work for me over the years, and I continue to hire him for my primary residence as well as a rental. Donovan Arborists did some complex work for me when they took down a 60ft Willow tree adjacent to my garage. All the work was completed safely, and I was very appreciative of the professionalism and hard work. This is a great company.

They provided a level of attention to detail including hand pruning of trees including locust, pear and junipers and also shrub trimming. I am very happy with the results. Highly recommended.

I've used Donovan Arborists 2 times and while the work was solid, I'm writing this review and giving them only 1 star due to their onerous and ridiculous invoicing and collections practices.

For example, their team came out to complete 2 pruning jobs for us on Tuesday, January 14th and were 2 hours later than scheduled. While this is usually not a huge deal, my wife and I had to leave for an appointment prior to their completion. When we asked if they needed anything from us prior to leaving, they said "No." They left an invoice in the door and we were planning on paying this within a few days just as we did with last year's invoice.

That evening we received an invoice via email with a follow up "Reminder" email Wednesday morning, the 15th, saying that our payment is passed due. Then on Thursday the 16th at 9am we received a phone call from Bridget saying that our payment is past due that we would be subjected to a "late fee."

When I stressed my concern and displeasure over the overzealousness of the collection efforts, considering we hadn't experience this previously, we were told that it's a new policy as of January 1st and that emails were sent to notify.

So...the invoice is paid and we will most certainly be looking for a new arborist since we have more important things to worry about then being chased down for payment less than 12 hours after completion of the work.

We've had Donovan care for a large cottonwood several times in the past few years. The first experience was a long overdue pruning to improve the overall tree health and protect a few outbuildings. The crew was professional, explained the work they'd need to do and left the tree looking great. The second experience was to remove several large broken branches after a windstorm. Despite some miscommunication that resulted in a one day delay, the crew was very friendly and worked quick. We'll definitely hire Donovan again.

We had a 30 year old blue spruce, 40 feet tall, that died this past year. It brought so much beauty and shade to our backyard, and served as the backdrop for many family photos! To lose this tree was upsetting. Donovan Arborists came in and did an amazing job of cutting it down branch by branch! Jonathan’s team of experts not only did an excellent job start to cleanup, they were friendly, thoughtful, and sensitive to our feelings about the tree! This is the second year I have used Donovan Arborists to trim & prune trees. We moved into this house a year and a half ago and have not been sure of the last time these trees were properly cared for. They did an incredible job last year with a large oak and maple in the front of the house and just this week took care of two ash trees in the backyard that sorely needed some love & care. Not only that, they discovered that the oak tree in the front had kermes scale (which they treated) and that the ash trees needed to be treated to prevent emerald ash borer beetles (also treated). There were some treatments and fertilization that needed to be done again this year, which they contacted me about proactively. The staff members that show up to do the work arrive on time and are super communicative about everything they're planning to do ahead of time, as well as a debriefing after the job is done. Not to mention it's fun to watch them scale the trees like acrobats. I would highly recommend Donovan Arborists and plan to use them again in the years to come for all my tree needs!

This company was great to work with. Good communication from dispatch, and a very competent crew that did a great job. The lead arborist was also super informative and made my wife and myself feel we were in good limbs. I mean hands. I mean chain saws.

Donovan Arborists has taken care of all of our tree services for the past three years. They are excellent and I’d recommend them to anyone. They have pruned my trees, they come and fertilize in the spring as necessary and have installed two absolutely beautiful trees in my back yard, one being a memorial tree which was extra special to me. The quality of their work and employees is off the charts - they’re always timely and courteous. They are wonderful with the three dogs running around my yard and are kind and caring to them all. First time using Donovan. They treated my two Ash trees and cleaned the crown of my 3 big trees in the front yard. Everyone I've spoken with is friendly and straightforward. The estimate was quick and included all the info I requested. The team that came out to do the work was efficient, paid attention to detail, and wanted to make sure they didn't leave without my questions answered. What a great outcome and experience!
