HVAC reviews in Denver, Colorado

Johnstone Supply is our main stop for all HVAC equipment and supplies. The team here is outstanding and top notch service is delivered each visit

Everyone here is always incredibly helpful. Jay V. recently especially went above & beyond - and I thank him much for ensuring we had materials needed to get a job completed on time!

Hi i like the book is it possible to get an updated version of the book

Great customer service every time

I've been there a couple of times and will never go back again. The sales people were unfriendly and mean. Great inventory but with that attitude I won't be able to do any business with them.
-
Failed to clearly state on their website that they only sell to contractors. Told me to go to Federal Heating Supply. I had called FHC earlier, they finally called back and told me they could have it tomorrow. He then quoted me a price 5 times the internet and nearly 3 times where I finally found the part locally. It is likely he was going to get the part from Johnstone Supply and mark it way up, since I'm not a contractor. Nice little scam they got going. I guess they don't need my business since the new Bently out front is likely the owners.

Garbage store. Wont directly say wholesale on website and promotes installing cheap parts for 200x markups to stay in buisness. Needed a dual run capacitor to fix my ac but they would rather sell to a contractor only so it will be 150-300 instead of 20. Funny enough that i could get it at at ace hardware but they dont carry 35/5. Go to amazon they will give you what you need without some inexperienced representative pretending ac is difficult and dangerous. You could have a license to sell to public and contactors but one is way more profitable.

Brian is a real one. Sometimes the other guys leave me hanging on quotes.

I called Johnstone and asked for a part, and also asked if they sold to the public. I was told yes to both questions. I then drive over there - a 25 minute drive, only to be told they only sell to the trade. I was then sent to Federal heating supply where I had to pay 4x the real price (compared to Home Depot online) for the parts. Johnstone is participating in a ripoff scheme in which consumers lose out and trades make money that the consumer never even knows they're paying them for. In addition the counter person was rude an dismissive. If you're a contractor that honors your clients, avoiding Johnstone would be a gift you could give them. We need to break the gouging monopoly here in Denver - in the SF Bay area, there were always suppliers ready to sell to the public. Personally, I'm going to go get a contractor's license number to fool these greedy suppliers with.

If I could give zero stars I would. Every time I have ordered from them they have messed my order up in multiple ways. I think they hire anyone off the street with no experience in HVAC.
I strongly suggest staying away and go to a real parts house. -
This is the Only hvac and plumbing supplier to use In Colorado. Knowledgeable professionals at the counter, always have your parts in stock, they'll come open late when you're In a bind. As an hvac contractor they are my go to. Jeff behind the counter has got to be the sharpest counter guy I've ever dealt with in a decade in the hvac business. 11/10 they're setting the standard for hvac supply houses in the US.
-
I was surprised how smoothly it went to pick up the parts I had called in with the social distancing in play... They had the " take a number outside, but all counters were open so my wait wasn't any longer than if I had been inside... Always a good experience here, the crew knows their business, always helpful and thorough.

Terrible counter service, at least based on my one (and final) interaction with Johnstone. I walked in needing a slightly hard-to-find item and the gentleman behind the counter immediately started questioning my business credentials. He refused to clarify what his problem was, behaving like a condescending jerk -- inexcusable. He also uselessly suggested a different supplier that was totally inappropriate for my needs. I took my business to Grainger instead, where I had a completely delightful experience.

These guys we're upset that I was there after they closed however I was there almost 30 min before closing time. Way to make the customer feel welcomed right?
Then I proceeded to try and load a huge A/C into my truck while employees are passing right by me.
No offer to help, they actually avoided eye contact. Pathetic customer service. -
They value the contractors markup more than your pocket. They don’t give estimates of how much the materials cost to homeowners, when a homeowner technically can install their own furnace. If you are not in the business they won’t quote you. Protecting the markup of the HVAC trade. Shady practice if you ask me.

Doron was extremely helpful, attentive and thorough! He made several phone calls for me getting to the bottom of my issue and didn’t miss a beat! Give this man a raise ASAP!!

I attended training at this facility and they have a great curriculum. They also have a very nice lab and I would recommend going here for all of your HVAC training. The staff throughout the building was very friendly and everyone there was consistently busy. It was very busy in the store and that is always a good sign. They also have a very nice selection of everything relating to HVAC. If I was a contractor I would buy from them!

Was a little daunted when my number was 38 and they were on 15, however, in 20 minutes I was in and out. Not only that Tim was very courteous and asked if I had a tank to exchange, I did but on the phone the front desk said they could not do an exchange today. HE gave me the exchange price and said I could return tomorrow. This was my first time here and I felt out of place until Tim greeted me with a smile and that was that!

I have always had great service and support from Johnstone, their counter guys will go out of their way to help and I have always found them professional.
I think some of the reviews on here criticizing them for not selling retail are unfair and downright stupid, they are wholesale supply to the hvac industry. Just because you watch a YouTube video you are not qualified to work on gas appliances, they don't sell to you because of the liability when you blow your fool self to oblivion. Yes it is expensive to have a knowledgeable professional do the job right and safely and in many cases more expensive because we have to fix what you fixed and deal with people like you. Some people would go to a steak house and leave a bad review because they don't have vegetarian selections. -
Can't buy from these people, but one guy was helpful giving me name of parts and able lead me getting my own part. Mechanic buyers got pissed for not calling in service when I wanted save money on labor cost. Too many dishonest mechanics for me to trust. To me, those mechanics has nothing but eye ball rolling dollars signs. I feel we have much rights to repair our own equipments as long we have knowledge.

Based on their rating, they might be great for contractors, BUT don't bother calling if you aren't one - they chose to be of no help for a small residential furnace repair on a Friday just before a weekend with SINGLE DIGIT HIGHS AND NEGATIVE TEMPERATURE LOWS expected!!!!!!!!!.
My suggestion - shop online, since that's what they want to force you to do. I don't see why companies, in this day when brick and mortar shops are having trouble fighting the online giants to stay alive, would turn a paying customer away no matter how small. If they want to offer special pricing to contractors that buy from them all the time, I get that, and would expect to pay a contractor's markup on any products purchased if using a contractor, because they would be the one warrantying the parts they supply. However, if I need a $14.00 part, and am fine with paying said markup, and then some just to get what I need, to Johnstone Supply, or whatever other company, instead of having a contractor come charge me to diagnose what I already 100% know is wrong and then mark up the part, why should Johnstone care - it's a $14.00 part.
Edit - I found it at a competitor locally. Unfortunately, after telling me they had it in stock, then asked if I was a contractor I was sent on my way to keep looking elsewhere at the end of a work day. I ended up finding another place that had it, but am not able to get their before they close. I'll either support them, or buy online to save the hassle factor, and pray my system gets me through the cold weekend. Either way, I'm not buying from Johnstone, now (clearly) or in the in the reasonably near future via contractor when we have both of our HVAC/Furnaces replaced, because I'll stipulate no parts to be bought from Johnstone for my work...
