Constraction reviews in Littleton, Colorado

Brothers did an amazing job. They are superbly organized, the crew is capable and very gracious. The price is excellent and the change order costs are very fair. We are thrilled with our basement. The leadership is very effective.

Brothers Construction did a great job on our basement in 2022. They were also really helpful with issues that weren’t even part of their job, like helping me find and install stair handrails upstairs that matched the ones we put in the basement. A great experience all around.

Jim was very courteous, helpful and clear during entire process. We had approximately 1/2 of our basement finished by Brothers Construction. His crew did a professional job on our basement and was very involved with the entire process. From , planning, making suggestions ,laying out the time line ,actual construction and final wrap up Jim was there to assist and advise throughout the process. 5 Stars A1

Brother's Construction completed a basement finish, added a closet and window upstairs in our house in Littleton. They completed the job with excellent quality of workmanship, at the price quoted and on time. We are very satisfied with all of our interactions, and we recommend their services without any hesitation.

Brothers Construction has refinished basements in two different houses I've owned over the past 20 years. Brothers is different because almost all of the trades are employees of the company. Owners/GC and all employees were all wonderful and the work was high-quality. Great value on both basements. I was watching Rico to the Rescue last night and wished the client had hired Brothers and not the company/GC that left them in the lurch.

We absolutely loved our experience with Brothers Construction. After doing our research we narrowed down our options to two businesses, and Brothers Construction won out. Their finishes were higher end and working with Jim was like meeting up with my favorite uncle. I would highly recommend these guys!

Brothers finished our basement and the process was extremely smooth and fast. We were skeptical that they could do it on the timeline they gave us, but they did. I looked at other basements they had done and went and personally visited two of them so I could see the quality of their work. After seeing both of them, I was sold! The quality woodworking was exactly what we wanted with a wrapped bar, wrapped columns and a built in entertainment center that all turned out perfect! We got all of that woodwork for the same total price others were charging that didn't include any woodwork. We felt the price was a great value and the quality of work was top notch, will definitely use them again on our next house!

Brothers finished our basement many years ago and we are still enjoying the space. They did a great job working with the space and budget we had to work with. The project moved smoothly and and was completed on time and within budget. They were professional and easy to work with and on the job site regularly. We would use them again for this project.

Competent, flexible, understanding, thorough, clean, respectful, great craftsmanship: we had nothing but positive experiences using Brothers to rebuild our basement following a flood. We solicited 6 bids, and our conclusion was that their initial quote was complete, they understood code, and simply wanted to do a quality job, and they stood by that initial quote. I've compared notes with friends that used other builders and Brothers definitely stands out above the others.

When we contacted Brothers Construction and established a schedule and budget, friends told me that I would be charged more and the schedule wouldn't be met. Instead, the work was done on time and there were no additional charges. They were very accommodating, putting up shelving in a storage area and hooking up a utility sink for no additional charge. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend them.

We had Brothers Construction finished our basement about 7 years ago and they did a great job. My husband and I had an idea of what we wanted for the basement and Brothers had great input and suggestions that really improved the layout and design of the basement.
The work and finishes provided by Brothers was impressive and gorgeous! -
Brothers Construction completed a basement remodel for us and did a great job. The process was smooth, they were easy to work with and stuck with the laid out timeline. They were always on time, kept a clean job site and did great quality work. Happy to recommend them!

Brothers is the best! Jim is a rare commodity - an honest person! Jim is so experienced that he can look at your space and plan the entire buildout in his head. Brother's workmanship is quality. Neighbors and friends who visit my basement are always impressed at the quality of Brother's workmanship. Don't recommend many professionals these days but whole heartedly endorse this company. Even though Brothers finished my basement years ago, they took the time to meet me for another project and give me an honest opinion that it wasn't worth trying to renovate a townhouse I owned. Jim did this all for no charge because he truly enjoys building relationships with those who are lucky enough to cross his path.

Brother's was great to work with.....they delivered our basement project on time and on budget. I loved that there were no surprises when they presented their invoices. The quality of their work was top notch. I also really appreciated their ideas and suggestions on how to make our basement more usable....they were great.

We contracted with Brothers Construction in May 2024 for a basement finish of about 2,000 SF which included 2 bedrooms, a master bath, very large great room with wet bar, wine frig and a separate workout room;
Jim Hathaway was very easy to work with during the initial design and bid process and pricing was reasonable and competitive with other vendors;
Work began on time and their workers and craftsmen were timely, polite, skilled and accommodating to changes;
Jim and Andrew were very helpful as we got into the finer details of design. They collaborated well with our ideas but also made alternative recommendations that turned out to be better solutions;
Interim and final billings were accurate and change requests were documented well so there were no unpleasant surprises at the end of the project;
I love how the basement turned out and am very pleased with the work from Jim and his team.
I would highly recommend them for any similar projects. -
About 4 years ago, we got 3 quotes to finish our unfinished basement. The final bid for the one we planned to go with came in 150% higher than the initial bid. In addition, there was no guarantee that the price wouldn't go up from there once work began. Fast forward 4 years. Our neighbors were finishing there basement and were very happy with the work. They were using Brothers Construction. We got an estimate from Brothers. The estimate was great compared to the estimates we received 4 years earlier. The thing I liked most about the Brothers is they said the price wouldn't change unless we upgraded something. That was absolutely true. It was nice to know there wouldn't be any monetary surprises during construction.
The next thing I like about Brothers is the level of trust we had with them. We weren't in town when they started construction. In fact, we weren't in town during the majority of the work. We gave them the code to our house security system and they came and went as necessary. We left them their installment checks on the counter and it all worked out very well. They were very communicative and responsive during the work.
Finally, we are very happy with the finished product. They quickly addressed the few concerns that we had. The people that did the work have all been with Brothers for a long time, so the construction aspect of the job was seamless and timely. They finished exactly when they said they would finish.
To be completely honest, if we hadn't stumbled upon Brothers Construction after chatting with our neighbors, we wouldn't have finished the basement. We are beyond happy that we did. I highly recommend Brothers. -
Brothers Construction did a great job on our recent basement remodel. Jim, Andrew, Alex, and the entire crew were very helpful throughout the process. Communication could have been better at times and there were a few minor issues which they addressed, but overall we are very happy with the final product. I would recommend Brothers Construction to friends & family.

Great job - completed on time and on budget. Jim's team was respectful of my home and the experience was overall a solid 5 star. The design center was very helpful and allowed me to envision the final product with my choices. I highly recommend.

Brothers construction is the absolute best. They finished a large unfinished basement in our first house gorgeously and on time for less than some others quoted and helped us design the layout giving practical advice for resale. They had experience with everything we wanted including a home gym, built in bunk beds and a feature wall. We have since moved and they are helping us update our new home. They have installed a new front door, helped us replace baseboards, remodeled a kids bathroom and replaced our stair rails to update both the safety and aesthetic to a more modern look. I can always count on good communication and quality work for a reasonable price with them. We’ve loved working with them and have multiple other projects we’re considering for the future

Jim and his staff did a great job finishing our basement. They were professional, kind, his staff showed up everyday they were supposed to, and cleaned up their workspace at the end of the day. Their work was very good quality. I would hire them again without question. I highly recommend them.

Avoid Brothers Construction – A Costly Mistake
Don’t make the same mistake I did by hiring Brothers Construction for your remodeling project. From the start, communication with Jim (the owner) was frustrating and inconsistent. He claims he doesn’t use text messaging—except when it suits him. Once we signed the contract to finish our basement, Jim became nearly impossible to reach and rarely returned phone calls.
He promised a “lifetime workmanship warranty,” but the quality of work and lack of follow-through say otherwise. Basic punch list items took over a year to complete, and many fixes were only made after repeated complaints and arguments.
Some of the major issues we experienced:
A bathroom wall wasn’t built wide enough to properly install round corner molding, resulting in sloppy, mismatched handwork that was redone multiple times and still looked poor.
Baseboards were painted the wrong color, even after I was assured they would match existing trim. He eventually repainted them, but only after much back-and-forth.
A doorframe was damaged during installation, and instead of replacing it, his crew filled it in with caulk and scraps of wood, then painted over it.
Speaker wiring had to be re-run three times due to poor planning and lack of documentation.
The bar area used different types of wood, leading to mismatched stain jobs that were never truly corrected.
Vinyl plank flooring was improperly installed. High and low spots were left uncorrected, making the floor flex and tap against the concrete with every step. Plumbing trenches were filled unevenly, creating an unlevel floor that had to be partially redone after another argument.
Concrete tools were washed out on our brand-new stamped and stained patio, leaving a permanent stain.
His crew used a temporary toilet during construction to wash paintbrushes, leading to water running continuously for over 24 hours due to a brush stuck in the tank.
Drywall corners were improperly finished, with large rounded areas filled with excess mud instead of fixing the underlying framing.
Recently, the dishwasher completely pulled out from under the counter due to being fastened with short screws. I contacted Jim to have it fixed under the “lifetime warranty”—no response.
The first time I opened our new microwave, it was covered in food splatter left by his crew.
Jim includes a contract clause stating he’s not responsible for furnace issues. I found this suspicious until I realized his crew was cutting wood in the basement while the heat was running instead of using the patio just outside a sliding door.
This job cost over $100,000 and was one of the more expensive bids we received. Jim was very confident and convincing, frequently mentioning he’s been in business since the 1980s, but the work simply didn’t reflect that experience. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Bottom line: Poor workmanship, poor communication, and poor accountability. Proceed with extreme caution.
