Recent Summer of 2020 storms dropped numerous sizable branches and trees around our historic farm house and property. Bill's Landscaping responded to our initial call for service within 24 hours and was on the property consulting on the sizable job within 48 hours. Very thorough walkthrough of the property by true tree professionals identified key risk areas we needed to focus on for clean up and making the property safe going forward. From consultation, through negotiations then the actual work and clean up was nothing short of Exceptional. Bill's Landscaping consistently showed a team of true professionals who operate with safety first and has a total eye to customer communications and satisfactions. This was a big, risky and somewhat complex job that my family and I are very happy we had Bill's Landscaping Tree Division there to do the job.

We have been using Bills for 2 yrs and have been extremely happy with the exceptional lawn care and fall cleanup. His crew is always on time and take pride in the work they do. I would recommend this team to anyone in need of a lawn care service and Patrick is always available with all and any questions.

Needed my side and backyard leveled after an old retaining wall fell. They came within the week and leveled it and also did an amazing job removing 6 feet more back so I can get a truck in my backyard if needed. Didn't chew up the yard with equipment. All around a pleasant experience. Will be calling them back for landscaping and tree stuff. They are my go to people for now on.

We have a very difficult steep front lawn to mow but Bill’s does a wonderful job - other companies have really tore up the yard with gigantic mowers. If I had any special concerns Bill’s respectfully / politely responded and my requests quickly resolved! A great crew - very happy with their service!

Update: Winter 2023
I had to revise my rating because what I thought was a good solution/fix turned out to be pure lip service. They do not have skilled people who actually follow through with what they say they are going to do. In fact, in trying to repair what they did, they made the situation worse. For example, they had an unqualified worker trying to trim antique blue stone that they completely ruined. Furthermore, their "professional gardener" planted plants and shrubs that cannot tolerate much water in a water rich area. The all need to be uprooted and replaced by an actual professional gardener. I now have to spend substantial more to correctly fix their continued errors.
DO NOT USE this company!
Update: Spring 2023. This is a good company. They made good on their pledge to make things right. They totally truly have. Things are not perfect, but are actively fix what they can. In fact, I will likely continue to use them for a new project because of their customer service. They are competitive with other companies, but the difference lies in the follow through and aftercare. Now, I still won't use them to mow my property, but design, build and gardening/tree work absolutely.
Update: one of the supervisors came out and saw the damage and was very understanding and apologetic. They will try to make right by us with seeding and soil in the late summer. Will update once there is follow through.
The sales associates are super friendly and prompt. They were very communicative. That’s were the good things stop. We had hired Bill’s to do our yard maintenance. We had just moved in and had a beautiful lawn. Despite our requests for less frequent mowing, they continued to come weekly and occasionally less than a full week. They cut the grass well below 3” during the heat wave and cut into the ground with their blades in multiple areas. The lawn looks like we had a rally car race on it. Plus when asked to address our concerns, nothing. Silence. If you are a lawn maintenance company and you can’t cut grass properly, why do you even exist? Save your money and your lawn. Look elsewhere. -
Highly recommend bills landscaping for all outdoor needs. Mow crew is very respectful, knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond. High quality work for reasonable price. Their install is also high in quality. I used to live in enfield ct, I now live in southern Ct. I can tell everyone, nobody down here does things like bills landscaping. Bills landscaping cares about their customers.

Exceptional service....Just days before the 4th of July Holiday Weekend, I had a tree fall in my driveway blocking in all my vehicles. I called Bill looking for help. Bill came out that evening and gave me a very reasonable quote to remove the tree. Within 18 hours, Bill's crew was on-site as promised. The crew was highly skilled, professional and even offered additional recommendations for tree maintenance. I was so impressed that I am looking to hire Bill's team to come back for additional "planned" tree cleanup and removal. Thanks Bill and crew!

If you want a professional company with quality communication that values their customers, both current and potential, then STEER CLEAR of Bill’s Landscaping. We hired this company in April to remove 10 trees and grind 6 stumps. Given a 6-8 week timeline, with a latest start date of the last week of June for the work to be completed, we thought we were put on a schedule. The company did not communicate with us regarding when we would be scheduled. They often did not respond to phone calls or messages. And changed our date of tree removal 3 times, with the last being the final straw for us. It is July, and our trees still stand.
We had other tree companies come out on those initial April days, and only went with Bill’s because we thought we were picking a quality company whose trucks we had seen in our neighborhood, on our own street even. When you read the other negative reviews on these pages, it is often thought that “oh that’s just one bad experience” they’re probably not always like that. And I thought the same, until of course these negative experiences became my own, and 2 months of my time was utterly disregarded and my value as a paying customer was negligible. Quite clearly they live up to their negative reviews. Do not allow your time wasted, or value to be pushed aside by Bill’s Landscaping. -
Patrick of Bill’s Landscaping came out to do the initial quote for tree removal on my property. He promptly returned my call, showed up when promised and didn’t waste time with any high pressure sales pitches. He was very pleasant, accommodating, professional and beat other competitors prices by a significant amount! Patrick followed up immediately with a written quote via email, he answered my questions promptly and oversaw the entire process from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from him informing me they could start my job earlier than expected.
The team arrived early, ready to work. Brandon and Noah were extremely professional, knowledgeable, courteous and kind. Both worked diligently to cut down and remove 3 trees, trim down the height of several arborvitae trees, and clean up my yard in extremely hot temperatures without taking more than a twenty minute break all day! They stayed late to try and complete the job in one day, however, weather and wet grounds prevented them from finishing up. There was a small issue with my yard, all three men were overly accommodating and caring about getting it fixed immediately. They went above and beyond, did exceptional work in a timely manor and resolved any unforeseen issues quickly.
Patrick, Brandon and Noah actually care about their customers. That’s a rare, great quality to find in today’s world!!! I would highly recommend Bill’s Landscaping to anyone that is looking for quality, fair prices, professionalism, excellent customer service and complete satisfaction. Amazing! -
I’m not the only review here claiming this person drives like an animal. Not sure I’d trust this company to landscape my property when they have people constantly cutting everyone off and disregarding the safety of the general public.

Do not higher Bills for anything….Disaster from the start.. Highered Bills to level a simple 20 foot circle so I could install a pool myself. They told me it would be an easy job. The day they came out I walked with them just to verify where I wanted the circle leveled. They went ahead and dug out a 31 foot crescent shape and into my slope… How is a 31 foot crescent shape close to 20 feet that was in the contract and why dig into my slope? They could have moved 3 feet back and not dig into my slope. Makes no sense. Guess they don’t read the contract before they start doing anything or talk it over… I contacted them back and they came back to fill in, seed the area they over excavated and create a 20 foot circle… Problem was the circle they created had mounds and was not level… Contacted them back once again… They came out a third time tossed some dirt down and said it was level. I even asked the crew before they left if it was level and they said yes… My wife and I installed the pool and guess what… It’s off level by almost a half a foot on one side… All they did was eye ball it (contract said level, not eye ball it). They used no leveling equipment…. I sent an email directly to the owner with are dissatisfaction… He called and wanted to come take a look at the job. I promptly called back and left a voicemail but never received a call back. However they continue to send past due bills in the mail… You don’t get paid for a job that nothing was done correctly…I have called and emailed them now multiple times over the past few months with no response. In the fall my wife and I will need to take the pool down and have someone come out to level the ground correctly… I have since talked to neighbors and coworkers about Bills. Wish I had before I hired them as everyone I have talked to that has used Bills has their own horror story (issue with tree removal and lawn mowing)… I wasn’t going to write this review but since they keep sending past due bills in the mail and not responding to my calls and emails I had to warn anyone thinking of using Bills.

Have attitude problem and does not listen to any of my request. Never go to this guy. Met him the other day on the high way, he starts to cut in front of me with out signal. Never have a met such a rude selfish person in my life.

Hiring Bills was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. I needed a small area leveled for an above-ground pool—nothing complicated, just a 30-foot circle. They assured me it would be simple.
What actually happened was the exact opposite. Instead of sticking to the plan, they dug way beyond what was needed, cut into my slope, and left me with a mess that didn’t resemble the job I hired them to do. When I questioned them about it, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal.
After multiple calls, they came back a couple more times, each visit worse than the last. One time they left piles of dirt, another time they spread it unevenly and claimed it was “good enough.” At no point did they use proper equipment to check if the area was level—they literally just guessed.
When we finally put the pool up, it was obvious right away: one side was nearly half a foot lower than the other. Exactly what I was trying to avoid by hiring professionals.
I reached out directly to the owner. He said he’d come take a look, but after I returned his call, I never heard back. Months later, instead of addressing the issue, I just kept getting bills in the mail for work that was never done correctly.
The worst part? Since then I’ve talked to several neighbors and coworkers who’ve also had terrible experiences with Bills—different services, same story. I wish I had asked around before hiring them.
At this point, my wife and I will have to take the pool down and pay someone else to redo the job the right way. Bills got paid nothing, and rightfully so. My advice: save yourself the stress, the wasted time, and the aggravation—don’t hire Bills. -
I reached out to Bill’s Landscaping about a week ago via email to offer professional videography and social media content services that could help improve their online presence. Unfortunately, I never received a response, so I decided to follow up with a phone call today.
The interaction was disappointing. The woman who answered the phone was noticeably rude and ended up hanging up on me before I could even explain the reason for my call.
I understand businesses get busy, but professionalism and basic courtesy go a long way. Based on this experience, I can’t recommend them for customer service. -
I’ve never been so shocked by a company vehicle on the road. The driver from Bill’s Landscaping was raging behind the wheel, cutting people off and acting like he owned the road. It’s scary to think someone representing a business could behave this way. If this is the kind of attitude they bring to driving, I can only imagine the lack of professionalism on the job. Truly disappointing and dangerous — people deserve to feel safe on the road, not threatened by a landscaping truck.

I’ve used S&S Tarnow the last couple years and feel like I got completely ripped off. I was paying $95/yard for river rock, and even this year at $75/yard it’s still way overpriced. I went to Plaza Excavation today and got 1.5 yards for $37.50 total.
Even worse, I now question whether I was getting a full yard at Tarnow. I asked before and was told they use “1-yard buckets,” but based on what I learned elsewhere, that doesn’t seem accurate.
On top of that, the rock I got from Tarnow was full of dirt.
Between the pricing, quality, and quantity concerns, I wouldn’t recommend them at all. Definitely shop around. -
Proceed with caution per our experience.
This review reflects my personal experience with this contractor. I recommend obtaining a copy of their proof of insurance, having a detailed written contract, and confirming all payment terms before any work begins.
In our case, we were asked to pay in cash or make checks out to our own name rather than the contractor’s business entity. We didn’t realize this might be a red flag, but I’d suggest others clarify all payment details and ensure that checks are made payable to the business entity (not an individual) to protect themselves should any issues arise.
I was dissatisfied with how the project was handled. Some work did not match what I understood to be our agreement (including the invoices themselves), and there was damage to our property ( ). Portions of the work that differed from the contract (as invoiced) were not covered under warranty, even though the company’s website referenced a warranty policy. The products they said were under warranty were not replaced or refunded, despite multiple requests (and after spending over $30k with them). I offered to resolve the matter through the contractor’s insurance, but proof of coverage was not provided. I was also billed for services I did not authorize.
The experience was costly and stressful, especially since the work was for an elderly family member recovering from a stroke. We ultimately had to hire another contractor to replace the work from our last contract and correct the work completed under one of the contracts, resulting in more than tripling the costs. We asked for detailed contracts, and we're told to write the details. There weren't professional style contacts which should have been red flags. Asked for the certificate of insurance, and did not revieve them. The invoices were written after the fact and were usually just emails. Every request they had to discuss the issues were in person requests, when I was traveling for work 100% of the time. The warranty on hardscape as others have noted was not honored.
After a year of written attempts to resolve these issues, we were unable to reach an agreement, so I filed a small claims case to recover what I believe are my losses. The experience was costly and stressful, especially since the work was for an elderly family member recovering from a stroke. I wish I had read all the online reviews on Yelp and Google more carefully. Based on my experience, I would not hire this contractor again and recommend others proceed carefully. -
