I went into B&E to purchase both a flush and fill valve for my home toilet. I informed Mark, the shop owner, of the toilet model and part numbers, and asked if he had any suggestions. Upon this request he had a few condescending remarks and overall seemed disgruntled. When I told him his behavior was off-putting and that I planned to go elsewhere he took it as an opportunity to berate me. I told him his behavior was unprofessional and at this point he stated "if you continue talking this will go incredibly bad for the both of us." I strongly advise to avoid this business, and Mark if you read this you need to re-evaluate your business model, threatening a client should never be a part of that practice.
I have never been spoken to so disrespectfully in my entire life as I was today at B & E Pump co.. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the arrogance emanating from the employee. When I mentioned that I was unsure about the size of a part, he was incredibly demeaning and made me feel belittled for not knowing. His attitude was distasteful, and it was clear that he had no intention of being helpful. Instead, he made it a point to remind me of how long he’d been in the business, as if that justified his blatant rudeness. It was painfully obvious that his behavior was rooted in misogyny, as he seemed to take pleasure in trying to shut me down simply because I’m a woman. It was one of the most degrading experiences I’ve ever had. Thankfully, I went to another plumbing supply store afterward, where the staff were respectful, patient, and genuinely helpful. They took the time to explain things to me and ensure I understood what I needed. If you want to be treated with basic respect and get the help you need, I strongly recommend avoiding B & E, unless you own a plumbing company and he needs your business. The experience was beyond disappointing—it was outright offensive.
