Tristian and Joe were great to work with. We needed to have some excavating done related to a well drilling project, and they were completely trustworthy and transparent about expected costs, scope of project, and next steps. We will use them again if the need arises, and would highly recommend them!

I have worked with Tristan and Matt for many projects over the years on my 1863 home and can't praise their work enough. I've learned over the years to trust their analysis and solutions to my restoration problems and have always been extremely pleased with the results. From stone patios and steps along a riverfront deck to banking and grading my long driveways, their work has always been exceptional and long-lasting. They do it right the first time. The best part - no matter how long a day the crew works, they always allow time to clean up the work site. If you need a job done right, these are the people to call. I couldn't rate them more than five stars or I would.

They care about the end result and it shows in the craftsmanship. Fair pricing, great communication, and a company you can trust to deliver what they promise.

I have had a great experience with Rob and his crew. Rob is very responsive with quick estimating on projects. He had a crew out to build a deck within about 2 weeks of contacting him last summer. Head carpenter showed up and asked me detailed questions about what I wanted. The project manager then followed up throughout the project on details, the schedule, etc and was very responsive - offering his cell and email. The crew was good spirited, polite and respectful. The job was done well, on time, exactly on budget and all cleanup was handled. We'll be using his team again.

If you’re looking to build a home in Vermont or tackle a major renovation, look no further. We had a wonderful experience with RSC in the construction of our custom-built timber frame home. Rob Shea (owner) guided us through the process step-by-step with meticulous attention to detail. He is a true professional who takes pride in his work and stands by his product. The RSC crew are also professional, reliable, and respectful and true craftsmen. So grateful to have found an excellent builder with such integrity and craftsmanship. We have recommended RSC to family and friends and would certainly work with Rob and his team again.

Rob and his crew built a new timber frame home for us in Waterbury Center, VT. We started the process in the Fall of 2019 and we moved into our new home in October 2020. You may wonder why it has taken us 5 years to write a review. Well, you really shouldn't have many problems in the first year or two, no matter who your builder may be. A truer test is how it stands up over time. If you have had few issues in the first 5 years, that seems to be a pretty good indication that the home is well-built and will serve you well for the long-term.

Rob and his team were great to work with. You may notice that the time frame mentioned earlier was during the heart/start of COVID. Although challenges arose, Rob and the team did a GREAT job of taking an empty property and getting us into a stunning timber frame home in about 11 months.

We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the build. In the 5 years since we have lived in the home, we have had only a few very minor issues. For those, Rob's team has been out to fix those within a few days. Aside from being beautiful, the house has proven to be energy-efficient and comfortable. There are very few items we would have done differently, and those items reflect our design choices rather than build quality. The house has turned out so well that it was included in the Summer 2025 issue of Stowe Magazine.

Bottom line, we are VERY happy with our experience with RSC and would choose to use them again should we want to build or if we need renovations in the future.

Rob Shea and his crew are a dynamic team. We completed two projects so far with them. Rob has always been responsive, even during their peak times. He has come out on multiple occasions, providing a thorough assessment of the project and timely estimate. With both projects, there were no surprises with our final cost; coming in at the reasonable estimate he outlines. Our recent project was a kitchen remodel. Rob’s team installed all new cabinets/island, tile backsplash, plus did the finishing work. We truly appreciated everyone’s hard work, attention to detail, communication, and cleanliness. This is one of the hardest working crews! I never had any doubt the work would get completed, and done to my type-A standards :). The guys would show up exactly at 7am, and put in a FULL days work. The lead carpenter, Karl, also came back, on several occasions, to make sure loose ends were tied up. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose Rob Shea Carpentry. They were truly a pleasure to work with. The nicest team around. We look forward to working with them again in the future!

RSC is next level! The communication from the top down has been phenomenal. From Rob, to Karl, Travis, Sam, and Joe all I’ve seen is true professionals. The attention to detail on the work they have done so far on our deck is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about the people and this company.

We still have more projects to be done by RSC and we look forward knowing we are getting the best quality. RSC is how businesses should be operated.

If you are looking for true craftsman who care about the work they do then contact RSC.

My companies, Vermont Frames and Foam Laminates, have been working with Rob Shea and RSC Building for over a decade.

In the time we have worked with hundreds of Builders and General Contractors on residential and commercial projects from Maine to Virginia.

RSC Building stands in the top 1% of building partners we have worked with, not just for the quality of their work but for how they treat their clients, the care and concern they show, and the ownership they take for the results.

I have repeatedly seen Rob and his team give unbiased advice to his clients, even when it resulted in less work for him and his team, because it was the right thing for the client and their project.

They keep their clients informed and communicate well. Building a home is always a complex team effort and good communication between different teams is essential to completing a project on time and on budget. RSC Building excels at this.

I would highly recommend them to anyone considering building a home in Vermont.

Rob, Karl, Nick, Hunter, and their whole team/subs did an amazing job. They adapted to surprises without a hitch, communicated efficiently and effectively, and the end product turned out fantastic. They retrofit a beautiful bathroom into an old 1885 house where nothing is plumb or square. I highly recommend them for any size project.

Chris Johnson contracting did several projects on my house other contractors said could not be done efficiently without spending a lot more money. He saw solutions to problems and fixed them in an affordable and timely manner. I have experience with many carpenters and contractors. Chris Johnson contracting was so fast compared to others in the area without sacrificing quality. He was hands on and always on the job site. He was fairly priced and very clear and present with communication. I even received pictures of the project emailed to me while I was away. I would hire him in a heartbeat. He is well spoken and presents himself professionally. He doesn't waste time standing around, he is hands on and he calls you back.....a enormous rarity in Vermont trades. I am planning another project that requires excavation and I am going to hire him without any other quotes as he has always been affordable and easy to work with.

The Simpson Companies has been my landlord for a few years now. Be nice and be respectful and they will treat you the same. I really like Rachel. She's very helpful to me.

I don't normally give five stars, but I make an exception for this organization. The are prompt, punctual, courteous and know their stuff. I've used their associate brokerage firm to buy and sell many properties and would never trust another company to manage my property. I know that the folks at Simpson have my back and I can count on them for anything I need in regards to my property. I highly recommend them to anyone that is looking to buy or sell real estate, build a home or to help manage your property. I couldn't be happier.

I rented property from Simpson Companies. Unfortunately when I needed to move in it was the beginning of COVID and could only see the apartment by video. The video did show a newly renovated apartment that looked ok. I specifically asked about noise (I am nurse and do need to work nights) I was told that I would hear “some noise”, what I heard was not what I would describe as “some noise”. I could hear my neighbor above snoring, his every step above me, complete conversations and his cell phone vibrating.

There were mice in the apartment, my cats were having a great time catching them, when asked I emailed about an exterminator, the property manager responded, but nothing was ever done about the mice until I said something again. Then a maintenance worker showed up at my apartment without any notification that he was coming (woke me up after working a night shift) and wanted to put poison down, I told him that I did not want poison in my apartment because of the 2 cats and was told that I could go to Home Depot to get other traps then.

While there was construction being done in another apartment within the building , I contacted the property manager to see if I could find out how long the construction would be going on (it was very noisy), so that I could make other arrangements for sleep during the day, I got no response. Finally when it came down to me needing to sleep during the day, I reached out to the property manager again and was told that she talk to the maintenance department (never informed me of that) and she will now have to speak with the owner. I spoke with the owner, was spoken to in a very gruff manner and was told “when you complain too much, you tend to get ignored” and that I shouldn’t expect to live in a multi unit building and for it to be quiet. I’m not expecting perfect quiet, but I should not know my upstairs neighbors sleep schedule and when he’s received a text. That sums up there customer service in one sentence and it comes from the top!!

Living in a larger apartment complex now, with far more apartments and don’t have noise problems now, so you can live in a multi apartment complex and it be quiet enough to sleep during the day.
