Thadd and his crew did an amazing job! My deck was redone quickly and efficiently. He was honest about what needed to be updated and replaced and helped me get the result I desired! 10/10 would hire again!

We hired Thadd to tear down an old deck and build a brand new two-story deck. We've been really enjoying it since it was completed and couldn't be happier with the results. Our dog loves hanging out upstairs and watching everybody walk by.

We're very pleased with how our deck turned out! Thadd and the team kept us informed of the progress throughout the whole project and we knew upfront what to expect as far as cost and timeline. All our questions were answered in a timely manner. The new deck completely transformed the look and feel of our backyard space.

I was very happy to find a very good review deck builder, but unfortunately it is not true. We did several text and email communication in the beginning, and the manager of this company came to my house to make the measurements. We explained very carefully how we want our new deck to be and tell them the budget. Also we showed them our neighbor’s new deck almost twice bigger than my old deck. We want my new deck extend 5 or 6 feet width but still smaller than my neighbor’s. The manager said no problem at all. He said he need one week to work on the design. Ok I can wait. They sent me a email last Friday and tell me the design will be ready for me on Monday, I double checked on Monday afternoon, he said he will send me in the evening. But nothing happened. I wrote a email to tell him that please say what you can do but not do what you can explain. Finally today I get the design, with no single word of explanation, the design is almost exactly same size as my old deck. The roof above the deck go to the wrong said of my deck. Oh my god. I’m lucky that the project is still under discussion. They can definitely make a disaster if I let them do my deck. I make a phone call to the owner today to complain, he said he made the design for me because he think about my budget and that is the size of new deck he will recommend for me . I want spend 80 thousand dollars to have a bigger deck, but he recommends me almost the same size deck. I can spend several thousand to do the recondition to make my old deck looks new. Why should I spend 80 thousand?

Thadd was prompt, responsive, courteous, and responsible. His crew was approachable and diligent. I was thoroughly impressed with the work they did for our yard and fence, and I already plan to contact Thadd again for other work we want to have done.

I spent a significant amount of time trying to get a proposal from this company, time wasted where I could have found another contractor to work on my project. Finally after blowing me off for an on-site meeting, I get a response that he's booked until June (after he'd told me in September he couldn't do my project until December, which I agreed to). Incredibly unprofessional to disappear on someone. The way customers are treated in a hot market will determine which companies thrive in down markets. Thadd was incredibly unprofessional and wasted a bunch of my time.

Within an hour of posting this review, I got an email from the owner disputing the above. I have no reason to be dishonest and hurt a company, but I feel I should warn people of my experience. Maybe they'll learn from this experience, maybe not.

We love our deck! Thadd is very knowledgeable and helpful with talking through all the details. His crew is awesome, super friendly and addressed any of our questions right away. My kids will miss watching them build in our backyard but are so excited the deck is done! Thanks guys!

Thadd and crew did a great job on our deck, even with city requirements, sleet and cold! The deck came together slowly, but beautifully! Now that's it's done in winter, we look forward to being able to use it when the weather gets nicer! Other than communication, which could have been better, we are very please with the workmanship and end product.

We hired Wight's Landscaping to build steps into a very steep hillside. We are very happy with the end result and will definitely hire Thadd and crew for future projects. The project was completed within budget and his professional and hard working team was flexible when we wanted to make changes toward the end of the project.

I had the pleasure of hiring Thadd on a deck remodeling redesign project this summer. To say that it was great doing business with them would be an understatement. Anytime you submit drawings into the city, you have hiccups and unexpected issues, but Thadd key constant communication with me whenever I had requests or changes to our drawings. Thadd always made himself available for me via text, phone, or email, and welcomed the many questions I asked. Now I finally got my permit drawings approved by Sammamish and will be starting work on it this week. Pricing was reasonable and I'll be recommending Thadd to anyone interested in hiring him and his crew for years to come!

We initially hired another contractor to replace our back deck and build us a covered front porch. It was nightmare after nightmare (and that was before COVID-19) dealing with him. Finally I discovered that he hadn't even gotten the correct permits from the city and had not built to code or even using all the materials in our contract. He was so fired! Thadd and his crew helped make it all right, working with me and the city and an engineer to get all the boxes checked for permitting and code and safety. We now have a new back deck that is beautiful and safe and an amazing covered front porch that we get nothing but compliments on. I wish I had known about Wight's Deck+Design when we were in the planning process. We look forward to working with them again on future projects. Cannot recommend them enough!!!

We are very pleased with all aspects of our experience with Thadd and his crew. From our first contact through the end of the project Thadd communicated well, quality of workmanship is excellent and great firm to work with. Our deck was redone with Azek English Walnut and looks great. We would highly recommend Wight's if you need a new deck.

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and the entire crew for a great job. The deck is fantastic. We hosted friends for our daughter’s birthday yesterday and received many complements. The workmanship is excellent and the process itself was great, too. We really appreciated that the crew showed up everyday until the job was done, that they were friendly, polite, and always left a clean jobsite. And thank you for the clear, frequent communication, and for responding quickly to any concerns we raised. All in all it was a great experience.

Start to finish, Thadd, Josiah, and their onsite crew made quick, professional work of my deck teardown and replacement. They listened to our needs, worked with us through our key decisions, stayed within our budget, provided material recommendations and designs that helped us visualize the finished project, and were communicative and responsive throughout the project.

Their onsite crew was fun, friendly, respectful, and their work was done quickly and with a high standard of quality, despite the rainy weather, muddy yard, and the previous deck’s poor condition. They conferred with us when they needed to make small revisions to the project, checked in often to make sure we were happy, let us know what the expect through all the key phases, and were even really good pals for our three dogs, who still needed to romp in the yard while the work was ongoing.

The end result is a wonderful new deck that has added beauty and functionality to our backyard.

I can't say enough good things about Thadd and his company. We actually hired him for his consulting services rather than having his company build our deck, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Perhaps somewhat foolishly, we decided to undertake a COVID-19 family project and re-do our deck. Thadd was literally a lifesaver and there is no chance we could have completed our deck project without him. He came out to our house several times, drew up some plans and a materials list, and was always available to answer questions via text/call/FaceTime.

Thadd was super easy to work with, extremely knowledgeable, and we really appreciated that he didn't discount the fact that we were taking on a big project that was admittedly a bit outside of our experience level.

Our experience with Wight's Deck + Design was great. From our first e-mail, they were prompt and thorough. We got multiple bids and choose Wight's because they were honest, upfront about permits and restrictions with our property, and commitment to quality work. Our project was large, involving two decks with one being a hot tub deck. Other builders did not want to move or coordinate with electricians to hook up the tub. Wight's had no issue and took care of it for us which was amazing. The whole building crew were great people. They kept us informed throughout the project and were polite and helpful. Our project did take a lot longer than initially planned due to COVID material supply problems, but I can't fault them for that. In the end our new decks are beautiful and well built. We would definitely recommend working with them!

I was referred to Thadd Wight at Wight Deck + Design and was immediately impressed with Thadd. He was responsive, professional, and warm. Thadd came highly recommended by a major company, but I since have heard from several other acquaintances of their separate positive experiences with Thadd and his company.

It was quickly apparent Thadd has years of experience and approached the project from the customer need and quality perspective--which is not always a given with companies. He took the time to ask specific questions, listen to our answers and hear what our goals were, and those remained the key focus. Because they specialize in design as well as installation, the focus on the project was always to address our needs. I would highly recommend Wight Deck + Design and Thadd Wight for a future home project.

Wight's Deck+Design built our deck last year and we had a good experience, so we decided to use them for our landscape project. Our recent experience was not as positive. The project was poorly managed and lacked clear communication. From our perspective, the owner was too busy to thoughtfully manage our project which caused confusion and delays.

Additionally, we were surprised by the final invoice. The labor estimate nearly doubled compared to the original estimate without any communication that actual hours were running over the planned hours. At the end of the day, we are satisfied with the result. However, we feel like we overpaid due to project mismanagement and would not recommend this experience to others.

I had the pleasure of hiring Thadd and his team to rebuild our deck. I am pleased to say I would hire Thadd in a heartbeat again if needed. Thadd was a good communicator throughout the process. He really made sure we were happy with the final results all while working around a yard project we also had going. The crew was also very friendly and worked with any requests I had. If you can't get on the schedule right away, my suggestion would be to wait for availability. When things go sideways, you want a vendor you can count on to work with you through it.

We hired Thadd first to rebuild our back deck two years ago. He was responsive and knowledgeable about the different decking types and also handled obtaining the required permit prior to starting work. He and his crew worked efficiently through rough weather. We had a couple problems with the railing product and two boards that needed an
extra fastener but Thadd was great in coming out to fix the issues. Recently we also hired him to replace our front porch deck to match the back and he quickly fit us into his schedule and also followed the necessary pandemic protocols. His crew is friendly and he stands by his work.

We chose Wight's Deck & Design based on a friend's recommendation, and we were very, very pleased. Thadd's communication was thorough and timely, and the crew of Ricky, Tim and Jonathan was courteous and industrious. Everything finished on time and was beautifully done. Highly recommend, and we would totally use them again.
