I contacted South Bay to get a quote on staining my deck and trellis. They replied quickly and showed up that weekend to take a look. They advised me to sand the railings but not the entire deck since pressure washing would remove the old stain. Their quote was very reasonable so we set up a time for the work to be done. It took 2 days to pressure wash and stain the deck and it looks great. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to have their deck stained.

These guys did a great job restoring our deck to its original color/luster. We live in SF and our deck gets beat up pretty hard by sun, wind, and damp/fog so it weathers really quickly. Richard was easy to work with and his team came back a couple times to even touch up a few spots. We will definitely call them back when we need to maintenance it again.

I've been looking for a reliable fence/wood staining expert crew for some time here in the Bay Area - and I think I've found them! I've managed my own house construction from tear down to completion, so feel like I have a good sense of good/bad when working with any construction-related contracting company.

First, they sent someone out to do a quote in person, which is always appreciated since I had a pretty unique job. Overall, super patient in terms of answering all the question I had in person. The quote that was sent afterwards was also very thorough, broken down by area, and included all the 'work' broken down into smaller steps that would be done (clean, brighten, sand, stain, etc). This made it really easy to decide what to add/remove/cut/defer to later.

Second, the crew that came to do the actual job was pretty tidy. They were respectful of outdoor furniture, moved stuff out of the way, and overall kept things pretty clean throughout the job. They did a window clean up job after sanding and staining as I have very large patio sliders. It's so typical of bad contracting firms to leave trash and junk _on the site_ these days. Not so with South Bay Wood Restoration.

I had some older stain on my fences which was _mostly_ gone except for small strips here and there; so while the power washing got rid of 99% of it, they did have to come back a few times to touch up a few areas. I really appreciated that they were not seeking to close the invoice or collect money until I was happy and felt the job was truly complete. We had two touch up follow-ups which took almost a month (due to my spotty availability), so not getting bugged on payment during this time frame alone would make super happy to work with them on another job again.

Lastly - these guys use Armstrong-Clark, and know how to apply it. I appreciate the usage of an old school oil stain product; here's to hoping it'll last a lot longer than the old water based stuff I had!

We worked with Bay Area Deck & Fence Stain (formerly known as South Bay Wood Restoration Team) to wash, clean, and re-stain our wood deck and stairs. They did a wonderful job - it looks like new! We used South Bay Wood restoration to stain a deck and a play structure. The experience was positive and the work turned out great. The guys moved the furniture, power washed, sanded, stained the deck, and moved the furniture back over the course of several days. We've used other deck staining companies in the past but the end result with this service was better!

My deck definitely needs some restoration work and I’m glad to have chosen South Bay Wood Restoration to restore my deck. If not the rain and landscaping work in my backyard, they could have finish the work in 3 days. They are able to work around the rain and they had no problem with the on-going landscaping work. We thought our deck would have to be replaced, as it looked so bad. The foggy air in SF meant we had patches of green moss and mildew growing on parts of both the top and underside of our deck. But to our surprise they said our deck could survive another 10 years with the proper care. I really appreciated their honesty and they did an incredibly thorough job with the restoration. It feels like a brand new, beautiful redwood deck!

Richard and his team did a great job bringing new life to our fences and planter boxes. They also made much needed repair to a gate with a broken post. They arrived to the worksite promptly on scheduled work days and we're very respectful of our backyard. We are so happy to have fences that look better and will last longer!

This is the 2nd time I am using Richard and his team to stain my ipe wood deck. They are easy to get hold of and they do an outstanding job as you can see from the pictures. Great communication via email on scheduling the job and the team showed up on time and did a fantastic job with the power wash and stain. Clear and reasonable pricing and great results! I will use their services again the next time I need my deck stained.

South Bay Wood Restoration stained and sealed my new IPE deck. They did an excellent job, which started with pressure washing to clean it, drying overnight, and then sealing it the next day. Now that it's the rainy season in the Bay Area, we'll see how it holds up but I'm confident that it'll look just as good next summer as it did this Fall.

After receiving multiple estimates to refinish our deck and chimney siding, we decided to go with South Bay Wood Restoration and could not be happier with the results. I'm so glad I reached out to South Bay Wood Restoration. Our redwood deck was in terrible shape. The previous stain was peeling off, the wood was graying, and it was starting to deteriorate after several years of neglect. The team came in and in 3 short days were able to power-wash, sand, and then stain the deck to the point where it looks brand new. I can't take my eyes off it right now because I'm still so impressed and so happy with how it turned out. South Bay Wood Restoration did an outstanding job refinishing our deck. Our deck was over 20 years old and had ton of warped boards, gaps, loose boards, sticking up screws and splinters. Richard was incredibly helpful and professional - I sent pictures to Richard and he provided a quick assessment along with a transparent and competitive estimate. The actual refinishing took a few days and Milton (the lead technician) did a fantastic job with fixing up the current boards, replacing boards that were too warped, sanding and staining. The deck looks basically new and was significantly less expensive than replacing with a new deck. Thank you for the great work and service!

Richard and his team did an amazing job for my fence and side gates wood staining. They arrived on time as scheduled and were friendly, professional, and easy to work with. The entire restoration process went smoothly from start to finish. I had initially considered replacing the fences, which would have been very expensive, but I’m so glad I found Richard and his team instead. They brightened the wood before power washing, drying and carefully staining, making the fence look very nice and look nearly new again. I’m very happy with the final results and would definitely recommend them to friends who need fence staining or restoration.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We have a 10 year old redwood deck in our backyard that is about 800 square feet. I have been refinishing it myself every few years with fully opaque stain from the hardware store, but my wife hated the look. She wanted to see the wood grain that I covered up. That was beyond my DIY skill level, so I got a few estimates. South Bay Wood Restoration had the best pricing and services, which is important to me because I retired a few months ago so I don't have a big budget.

The crew came out and spent 4 days sanding, staining, and replacing a few boards. The work was top quality. They started with power washing on the first day. On the second day, they used a large belt sander, and by then the deck already looked better than when it was new! Next they hand sanded, then cleaned everything up so there was no more dust anywhere. I then asked them to replace a few boards, which they did happily with no pushback. The crew also moved a few heavy items for us and did a couple other on the fly requests with no complaints. We are very happy with this experience and for all the services we got, including sanding, board replacement, moving items, and the refinishing, the price was very comfortable.

Working with Richard was excellent. He is very professional and patient. It helps if you're patient, because they are clearly very busy so it can be a while between responses, but Richard fit everything into our schedule and the end result was totally worth it.
