Reviews of local pros in Hockessin, Delaware

We contacted Borsello’s Landscaping after observing the beautiful work done at a nearby neighbor’s home. Our front and side yards were badly in need of TLC and we also had highly individual needs. We were using repurposed mushroom growing bins raised for growing bins but they were sitting on concrete boxes and not attractive. We also had a number of native plants that we wanted to “save” and transplant to our new garden space and we wanted the process to be organic or using pollinator friendly products. To describe our yard renovation as a “challenge” was kind. We worked with a Borsello designer, Alan Rice and he was fantastic. He came up with creative ideas and he was willing to modify his design to help us create a pollinator friendly paradise. We also worked with the Delaware Nature Society Habitat unit and Alan was more than willing to incorporate their suggestion into our planning. Alan and other Borsello staff made every effort to work with adjacent neighbors to make sure that the plan worked for them as some trees and ground bordered on our neighbor’s property. Once the work started, Ben and his crew of hardworking staff were friendly, courteous and exceptionally tidy. They often went beyond our expectations setting flagstones a new way, transplanting extra plants from our backyard to the side and finding swamp milkweed for a wet area (no extra charge). They cleaned up the work space each day before leaving, Ben built a beautiful retaining wall out of boulders and Dan built cypress bases for our plant boxes (very sturdy and attractive), a railing and poles to anchor plants. All of the staff have been responsive to our requests and followed through with the planned work. I rate the company as multi-talented and excellent all around.

Mike's team did a beautiful job on the installation of phase 1 of our landscaping project. Mike put together a beautiful selection of perennials that will give our house some great curb appeal. His installation guys were very friendly and knowledgeable and they kept the entire work area neat and organized as the did the work over the course of a couple of days. They even put down some seed and fertilizer around the work area once they were complete. Can't wait to start phase 2!

The entire Borsello team was terrific and our project was done beautifully. They cleaned up every day and the craftsmanship was amazing.

My wife and I recently built our own home in Fort DuPont and were very much looking forward to finally landscaping the front of our home. We decided to contact Borsello Lanscaping because of their duration in business and reputation within the landscaping community. We were fortunate to have Mike Borsello initially visit with us at our home and listen to our ideas of using specific colors as well as pollinator friendly plants and trees. Within a few weeks, he presented us with several landscaping concepts and proposals that he and his team created which helped us to easily finalize the overall design. We had planned a wedding shower for our daughter in early May and Mike and his team were also great about working with us to make sure that the landscaping was installed prior to that special day. Everything looks wonderful and we are very happy with how the project turned out. We are looking forward to working with Mike and his team again for our future landscaping needs. Wayne & Cecily B.

We first used this firm several years ago and were happy with the work.
Nicole G was our project consultant both times and she developed workable plans that translated well to the finish.
The work crew completed the job without any drama, kept the worksite clear and cleaned up each day.
Communication and regular contact was appreciated for the job duration.

We had the pleasure of working with Mike and the entire Borsello Landscaping team to complete the finishing touches on the exterior of our new commercial space, Hank’s Place in Chadds Ford. From start to finish, they were professional, respectful, and fully committed to delivering outstanding work—on time and within our budget.
Mike and his team honored the long-standing tradition of landscaping and gardening that the Brandywine Valley community has cherished since the 1950s. Nicole was especially instrumental in designing a beautiful, low-maintenance perennial garden that not only thrives year-round but also provides clippings that can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors.
Beyond just plantings, Borsello Landscaping thoughtfully accentuated the sculptures and artwork on the property, enhancing the entire aesthetic beyond the architecture itself. Their attention to detail and creative approach helped bring our vision for Hank’s Place to life in a way that feels authentic to the area’s history and charm.
We're absolutely thrilled with the results and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Borsello did an amazing job redesigning my small back courtyard. Before and after is amazing. Nicole and Dominic and Steve and the team were all great to work with.

Borsello Landscaping was recommended to me by a neighbor whose yard I admired. I’ve had them do several projects for me since; the largest was a big bed in the back of my house that included a pergola with a slate floor. I worked with an outstanding landscape designer named Nicole who listened to my requests and concerns, and designed the area based on them. That was, maybe, five years ago. This year, the plants had filled in and some needed to be moved, with other areas needing to be filled in. Again, Nicole met with me and discussed ideas, adjusting her plans based on my feedback. When the workers arrived, Nicole was there to get them started, checking with them throughout the day and available to me if I had questions or concerns.

Borsello and Nicole also did a smaller bed with a tree in the front of the yard. I’ve been so happy with their work that I will be sticking with them for all future projects.

We worked with Mike Borsello to replace our deck and he was very professional. He came up with a really nice design to replace it with a new screened in deck. It looks great and works great. We’ve spent more time on our deck this summer than we spent on our old deck over the prior ten years. The best part? No mosquitoes when we’re outside in the evenings!

Great group to work with. Nicole is a fantastic designer with great vision. She can adapt and offer options at multiple levels and price points. Scheduled work was done on time and exactly as promised. We did a lighting project first and went back for work to update and revitalize our hardscape. Both projects look great.
Happy to recommend them to anyone looking to improve their home’s appearance.

Using Nicole and the Borsello team has been a pleasure. She is truly knowledgeable and paid close attention to my landscaping questions. The team that came to my house was professional and followed the plan exactly as anticipated. I would not hesitate to recommend Nicole and Borsello to anyone who might ask.

We have had such a positive experience working with Mike Borsello and his team. We are currently engaged in our second project with Borsello Landscaping, and I am extremely satisfied with their work. From the initial design phase to project execution, their diligence and quality standards have consistently been exceptional. The team is punctual and courteous and always a pleasure to work with. As I plan future projects, I will certainly continue to work with Borsello Landscaping. I recommend their services to anyone seeking high-quality landscaping expertise.

Wow, what a find! Borsello is in a class by themselves. Their design team created an incredible plan for us, including a patio, built-in flower beds, fire table, fire lantern (magnificent!) and landscaping. They executed the plan brilliantly, giving attention to every detail including the color of the grout they used. We love love love our new patio, and have been proudly entertaining neighbors, family and guests on it since it was completed. We couldn’t be happier with the Borsello team and recommend them to anyone who is looking to create their dream backyard!
