The TLDR: Fair pricing for the solar panels themselves, the Franklin 13.6 kW whole-home battery, and installation. Crew who installed, connected, and ensured everything was working well before they left were second-to-none!
Now for the details and a little background: This wasn’t our first rodeo: We’ve had solar panels on several homes throughout the years, so we understand the process. When we sold our previous home, the new owners wanted the solar panels but not the 13.6 kW Franklin whole-home battery. So we had it uninstalled and brought it with us to Florida.
My husband requested quotes from a few solar companies in the Pensacola area. He wanted pricing for enough solar panels to cover an average day’s usage for a home of our size, and an additional 13.6 kW battery.
Ross Dyson with SolarTechElec submitted a proposal which included an array of 29 Solaria Corporation PowerX-400R panels, with each panel including Enphase Energy Inc. inverters. The plan initially suggested a Franklin Generation 2 battery, but afterRoss did more research we had a couple of options: Go with an additional Franklin Gen. 1 or install the Gen. 2 plus added cost for the energy management control panel so it would tie in with our Gen. 1 (the Gen. 2 is not yet backwards compatible). We chose the Gen. 1.
SolarTechElec submitted the application to our HOA for the installation, they procured necessary permits, and provided us with professional engineering specs for the project.
Great! The administration side of the project finally moved to the installation phase. We were so eager to get everything installed. I fret over installations because we have to have faith that things will be done correctly and with the same care we would use when doing our own projects.
When the three-man crew arrived, we were immediately put at ease. The foreman communicated with us to give us an overview of the plan. He continued to keep us apprised as things progressed. Almost any large-scale project will have hiccups that can derail a good plan, but the crew handled all aspects with professionalism and ease. Throughout the two-day installation, they were conscientious and kept everything tidy and neat. If you would have seen our yard before they left for the night, you’d barely notice we were having work done. After day two, when they left, it looked perfectly tidy.
I’ll also state that this investment for us is about peace of mind, knowing that in the event of electrical outages–whether due to severe weather events or simply a downed power line–we will still have electricity. We’ve had electricity during and after a hurricane in Puerto Rico, when those without solar or generators of some type were out of electricity for two weeks.
Others may view the cost of buying and installing a bad investment because the offset to an eclectric bill would leave you feeling like achieving a positive in strictly dollars and cents is about 25 years down the road. To us the ROI shows up as soon as those suckers start harnessing the power of the sun and charge up our batteries.
Definitely recommend SolarTechElec. From the administration to the installation, we couldn’t be more satisfied. -
I am very happy with my tier 2 system and the entire purchasing process. Ross explained the process well and gave me his best price upfront. With two other companies I had to negotiate and they still weren’t as competitive. Now one month into ownership, the energy generation prediction is within 1% of actual. The process from initial signature to installation was only four weeks and Solar Tech Elec was the only company who could guarantee a timeline which was important to me. I’d happily recommend Solar Tech Elec to friends and family.

I chose Solar Tech Elec mainly because they were the only installer who confidently guaranteed they could complete my solar panel and Tesla Powerwall installation before the end of the year, allowing me to capture the expiring tax credit. They delivered on that promise by getting the system installed in time, which stands out as the biggest positive from my experience and the primary reason I might consider them again in a similar time-sensitive situation. That said, the overall process had several significant issues that left me dissatisfied.
They did not honor several upfront promises. They sold me on their service by assuring me they could install the Powerwall inside my garage, something other installers refused to do, and the approved engineering drawings showed an indoor location. Instead, they mounted it outside without clear justification or updated documentation. When I raised the issue, the installer's response was dismissive, suggesting engineers do not understand "realistic" installs because they sit at desks all day. As an engineer myself, I found this unprofessional. Additionally, the signed contract specified 405W panels, but both the engineering drawings and the installed panels were 400W. This violated the contract's terms, which allowed equipment changes due to supply chain issues only if the output remained the same or greater with equivalent warranty coverage. While the difference is minor, it was still a downgrade from what was promised.
Scheduling and communication were consistently poor. They repeatedly shifted approval and installation dates without firm commitments, forcing me to follow up constantly to keep the project moving.
During installation, several problems arose. They ignored the permit requirement for a 50% partial install plus inspection before full completion, even after I flagged it multiple times. This resulted in two failed inspections. The installer and owner insisted that photos would suffice and tried to argue with the county, but it did not work and delayed permission to operate by about a month. Separately, near the main disconnect, there was originally a comms box with Ethernet cables passing through the concrete wall (sealed). They needed to enlarge the hole slightly to relocate the passthrough, which I approved, but they never sealed or filled the larger opening as promised, leaving me to handle it myself to prevent water intrusion.
Cleanup and site care fell short as well. They left trash in my yard, including scrap metal, rail ends, nuts and bolts, and numerous cigarette butts. Their ladder work also damaged my gutters by scraping off paint, an issue that could easily have been avoided with basic protective measures.
After installation, it took over a month to obtain final county clearance. They did not handle or follow up on the net metering setup, so I filed the forms myself. I did receive the referral bonus for a friend I recommended, but only after multiple reminders. Throughout the project and afterward, the owner seemed more focused on securing a good review than on delivering strong service, asking for a review repeatedly.
On the positive side, they met the critical year-end deadline, the system is working well now, and my friend's experience with them was noticeably smoother, so your results may vary. Overall, if you are in a rush and no other installer can commit to your timeline, Solar Tech Elec might be worth considering. However, be prepared to stay heavily involved, push through deviations from promises (including equipment specifications), navigate inspection delays, handle unfinished minor tasks, and accept less-than-stellar attention to detail and customer service.
I rate them 3 out of 5 stars: They delivered the absolute must-have, but the execution and professionalism fell well short of expectations. -
Friendly, Efficient, and Absolutely Worth It!
From the very first call, the team was incredibly friendly — no pushy sales talk, just honest, knowledgeable people who clearly care about what they do. They took the time to explain everything in plain English, walked me through the process step-by-step, and made sure all my questions were answered (even the ones I didn’t know to ask).
The installation team showed up right on time, worked efficiently, and left my property spotless — I’ve had contractors before, but these folks set the bar high. Everything ran like clockwork from permit to power-up.
The panels are already saving me money, and the app makes tracking energy production simple. The entire experience was refreshingly professional — smooth, fast, and handled with genuine courtesy.
If you’re considering solar, stop shopping around and just go with these guys. Friendly service, top-tier efficiency, and a team that truly delivers on their promises. -
I have been extremely pleased working with Solar Tech Elec to install solar panels on my roof. Ross was professional, efficient and patient with all my questions. Likewise, the guys who did the installation were also professional, fast and pleasant to interact with. I highly recommend them to anyone considering solar panels.

Spoke with quite a few solar companies and did my research for about 6 months before I decided to go with a company. Even made phone calls to people checking up on these compaines. SolarTechElec checked all the boxes! They were easy start to finish and in touch the whole process. The panels look beautiful on the roof and the foot print they left was none existent. Really appreciate them and highly recommend Ross and his guys! Nice to see a company do everything they say.

I recently installed a solar and battery system on my business building, and I’m extremely pleased with both the results and this company’s professionalism from start to finish.
Their team made the entire process seamless… design, permitting, installation, and activation were all handled efficiently, and they clearly explained how the system would significantly reduce, and potentially eliminate, our monthly power bill.
They were also very knowledgeable about the current 40% commercial tax credit for using all U.S.-manufactured equipment (which expires at the end of 2026) and helped ensure everything was set up properly to maximize that benefit.
Living in Florida, storm preparedness is critical, and the battery backup provides tremendous peace of mind. Knowing our refrigerated products will stay cold during outages, and that the business can continue operating, was a major reason for moving forward. Plus, they cut back all of the tree branches that were over my roof to protect the solar panels and help them get the maximum amount of sunlight. In addition, the solar company was able to install an EV charger for my electric vehicle so that I can charge my truck during the peak charging time of the day.
The installation crew was punctual, respectful, and left the property spotless. If you’re a business owner considering solar to cut operating costs, take advantage of tax incentives, and protect your business during emergencies, I highly recommend this company. -
I had an excellent experience with Solar Tech from start to finish. The entire process was smooth, professional, and well organized. The team was knowledgeable, transparent, and always willing to answer my questions.
A special thank you to the Daniel who worked on this project with me —he was punctual, respectful, and extremely knowledgeable . He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure the work was done perfectly. It’s rare to find someone who takes such pride in their work.
I highly recommend this company to anyone considering solar. Great service, great people, and outstanding results! -
A prior company left us seriously let down after they ghosted us and the bank, broke promises on time lines they guaranteed, and told us there was nothing they could really do to get installed sooner. We were under a tight end-of-year deadline and feeling pretty stressed and frustrated as my trust with the previous company had been broken. I called a few solar places and it was either an immediate no, not the panels we were looking for, or way too much.
I connected with Ross at SolarTech Elec via a recommendation from a neighbor and he immediately put us at ease with his honesty, transparency, and clear communication. He took the time to thoroughly communicate during the process after he had explained pricing, equipment options, and realistic expectations in timelines, which made a huge difference after our prior experience elsewhere.
Even with the possibility that installation might not happen before year-end, Ross and his team worked efficiently and kept us informed throughout the entire process. We were thrilled when everything came together and the system was successfully installed prior to year end surpassing our expectations! The panels were exactly what we wanted, and the quality of work was professional and excellent. VASTLY different experience than we had with elsewhere and I am so pleased with Ross and his team!
This was an important investment for our future, and SolarTech Elec truly delivered. Our system is performing beautifully and I couldn’t be happier with it all! Ross and his team went above and beyond with their professionalism, reliability, and customer care. I would highly recommend them and would absolutely choose them again. I HIGHLY recommend Ross and the team at SolarTech Elec infinity times over! They saved us and have been a huge blessing to our goals in this house! Thank you! -
We did a lot of research. I got quotes with around 20 diff companies. Everyone offered the “best product”. Most companies I came to realize were working as a reseller for a larger company who’d take over my business once they got me signed up. I had already signed an agreement and then I found Solar Tech Elec while browsing on Facebook.
Ross right upfront was front and center throughout my sales pitch, coordination of the job, install and follow up. I first interacted with him in August and got our install done in early November mostly because I wasn’t available for the install date.
Ross was patient and a half with me as I came up with over 20+ questions over the course of several weeks.i swore he was gonna send me on my way at some point. Never did he lose his temper or made me feel my concerns or need were pointless or unfounded. He did educate me on several things i was not well informed on. He kept things at my level, which i appreciated as i did become very well educated on these systems through my process.
Installation was smooth. The electrician he sent over, Rafael was extremely professional. They do use contractors, but it seems like it’s a crew he knows well. It took 2 days for the job to be completed. They put the PowerWalls mounted on the wall at the electrical panel’s height as I requested for a cleaner look.
So far, 1.5 months in no issues on my roof as of yet. The one time I had issues with the system Ross answered, I followed some instructions on Tesla’s app and fixed my issue. I have yet to see how it will go over time, but my impression is that Ross will be responsible for his work.
Know that Ross is your point of contact for everything. This is how he ensures his work is maintained up to a certain standard. He is very proud and sometimes even a bit too much, which at times felt a bit braggy. He did come through with a very clean job.
There were times we had different views, particularly because I wanted a specific type of panel which he did not have in stock. He was extremely gracious about it and even when he disagreed he put up with my concerns and ordered the setup I wanted at a very reasonable slight increase in my cost, which I assumed happily. Despite this his quote best every other one I had some even by over 20k.
They take care of all the arrangements and paperwork that the Electric Company will need to get you your PTO letter. There were some issues with this part of the process as the electric company claimed they didn’t get the information from Solar Tech Elec. I simply forwarded all the paperwork Ross had CC’d me myself to them and that got things back on track. Ross and his team were on top of it, I just felt I wanted to make sure this step took place to ensure my credit.
Anyone looking for a company who’d do clean work and allow you some input as to the kind of setup you want, I’d 1000% recommend Solar Tech Elec. -
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had an exceptional experience with Solar Tech Elec from start to finish. From the very first interaction, the team was professional, transparent, and easy to work with. The entire process from quote to installation was completed in just six weeks, exactly as promised, which is impressive for a solar installation.
Ross was especially great throughout the project. He was always quick to respond to my questions, kept me informed at every step, and worked closely with me to ensure the system fit my budget without compromising on quality. His attention to detail and customer-first approach made the entire experience stress-free.
The installation itself was fast and efficient, especially for the size system I was having installed (32Kw/78 panels) completed in just a day and a half. The crew was courteous, respectful of my property, and left the job site spotless. Everything passed inspection without a hitch, and the system has been running perfectly since. I am already generating 90Kwh-100Kwh per day and it’s been raining and overcast, can’t wait to see the systems full potential.
If you’re considering going solar, I highly recommend Solar Tech Elec. Tell them Constance Camacho sent you and you will be taken great care of. They deliver on their promises, offer excellent customer service, use quality products and make the transition to clean energy smooth and affordable. -
We highly recommend SolarTechElec for your solar panel installation!! We researched all solar companies in the area and they came out as #1 in the area by ChatGpt. They lived up to to #1 from start to finish with Dan and Ross at the top, to Christian David and Austin in the field, all were extremely knowledgeable and professional !! In the first month, with many cloudy days, we reduced our electric bill by 2/3!! Our panels are on pace to pay themselves off in 7 years and we love the 25 year warranty that is transferable to a future owner
Call solarTechElec for a free estimate, you will not regret it -
I researched, and spoked with at least 6 different Solar companies before moving forward with Solar Tech Elec. Solar tech elec had the best pricing by far. What really sold me was that Ross (The Owner) personally came out to answer my questions and discuss concerns before signing anything. They installed a 30kW system with two batteries, and the entire process was smooth and professional. The install was fast, clean, and well done. Highly recommend them if you’re considering solar.

I was in need of a solar company that could remove and reinstall my solar panels as I was getting a new roof(finally), the company I had previously used had closed down that division. The company they had recommended was charging way too much. After some research and phone calls I happen to come across Solar Tech Elec.
Spoke with Ross about what I needed and he understood the assignment. 🙌🏽 Ross made the process swift and easy. We kept in touch to coordinate the removal and reinstall of the panels to work around the roofers. Once completed, the panels went back up and it’s as if nothing had happened. They were in and out before days end. I also took the opportunity to sign up for their yearly maintenance plan.
The pricing for the removal and reinstallation was spot on, other companies I had spoken to were charging significantly higher. Their maintenance plan is also worth especially for all they offer. Glad I came across them! Of course, a HUGE shout out goes to Ross for making it all happen! -
The garage lights kept dimming. They identified loose wiring connections. After fixing them, the issue disappeared. Very satisfied with their work.
