I had this service for 1 year. They did kill some weeds. They call you every other week trying to up-sell you additional services. Their herbicides were sprayed on our rose bushes and moringa tree and it inhalatied them. I told them many times not to call and upsell. Since they started spraying we have been invaded by snails.

Great service, I agreed to $34.98 for my first service. Someone decided to do 2 services during my first service to apply Chinch bug and Potash, which is clearly covered in my first service so I was charged $90, what a SCAM!!!!! was not billed, was not discussed, had to find it on my bank statement.

James Fernandez was the Tech that Serviced our Yard today. As long as I've had TruGreen, he's the ONLY Tech that I can remember that has explained what product he is applying and what results I should see after the application. I Appreciate him and his customer service. It was very pleasant. I hope he comes back to service our yard again in the near future.

Terrible lawn service. They have handled our lawn fertilization, weed control and tree/shrub treatments. Weeds are out of control and my lawn has multiple fungus issues. I've been extremely patient with them but it continues to get worse. Don't make the same mistake I did. Use someone who is proactive and customizes a treatment plan for your yard.

We use the company for quite some time and we are very pleased with the quality of work. The specialists are very helpful and knowledgeable and always answer patiently to any questions we might have. Great customer service always ready to help. I highly recommend them.

First treatment today had Luis Toledo as my tech and he was informative and personable. Explained everything and gave me a full print out of my services.

I called to set up services, was told the plan am signing up for is $55 a month. I asked 3 or 4 times to verify the price and that there was no contract. They completed services and then I got a charge for $97. I chatted with customer service, they said “we are sorry if the information was misleading. We can credit you and make the charge $55, but you have to continue services with us”. I called the next day to cancel, the lady was rude, not even sure they cancelled my account. So I’ll probably be calling again soon.

NO OWNERSHIP OR TRU CARE - I had service for over 2 years. Always calling to report problems, they were never proactive. Different technician every time (high turnover) and always the same canned notes on the ticket. Yard slowly declined while in their care. Finally caught them billing me for service (lime) they didn’t do. They admitted they don’t do lime in the south. They refunded me $137 on a $634 lime and aeration service. That is $500 to aerate (poke holes) in the yard. The rental of this machine that you walk behind is $75/4 hours. It takes 50-80 minutes to aerate my yard.
Find a local service that sends the same people every time.

Bad quality of service and unapproved jacked up charges:

I used Trugreen for almost a year. I prepaid for 10 services without trees and shrubs service. The service was okay initially but my lawn has degraded since summer. There are more brown spots continuing to expand. They also added tree and shrubs service starting July without my consent and started charging $85 additionally.

I called their representative but initially they denied to do anything about it. After spending more than 30 mins explaining the issue, they reluctantly said they will look into this matter.

Bottom line:
DO NOT use their services.

TruGreen has always taken excellent care of my lawn. I left them a few years back for a local company because of some questionable (but not unethical) billing practices. I went with a good local company, but they were bought out after a few years by Massey Pest Control, and the service became just… garbage.

Then I remembered that when I was with TruGreen, my lawn was always green with no bald or brown spots, so I signed up again. I got clarification on how billing works for some services, so hopefully there’ll be no surprises.

I “made up” with TG at the end of March (2024), and now after just 2 visits, my lawn looks as good as it ever did.

TruGreen is definitely my first pick for lawn health.

The TruGreen in Jacksonville is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. a year ago I put brand new sod down. Had TruGreen come in and now they've damn near killed the whole yard off. It's horrible what they've done to my yard and they're not responding to any of my phone calls so they can come fix it. Okay over the past few months TruGreen has been out trying to get my yard back to where it was. They have been out several times applying fungicide,potash,and fertilizer. The yard is doing better and the grass is coming back. There's still some dead areas,but they planted some temporary rye grass to fill in the bare spots until next spring when they will be out to replace the dead sod. I will update at that time. Waiting on TruGreen to come back this year and replace the St Augustine sod that died last year. They did seed the yard with winter rye grass but it will be dying off pretty soon. TruGreen sent the crew out to resod my yard today. The guys did an awesome job

TruGreen Lawn Care was a wonderful experience for me today. Fernando was very informative from the first minute he arrived. He explained to me what and where my problems were, as well as what he was going to do to resolve my current issues as well as prevent future problems.

They have literally killed half of our lawn. We hired them to help maintain and improve what we already had. I have no idea what they did but now we have to pay a couple thousand! dollars to sod and treat our yard. They claim to put down fertilizer and weed killer. All that's left now, in less than a year I might add, is dead grass and weeds. Please look at my photos and be warned.
Update: We had our lawn diagnosed with someone other than TruGreen. Apparently, we had some sort of lawn fungus and the constant fertilization was helping to spread the disease and was the exact opposite of what "we" should have done. It cost us $5,067.24 to have the damaged area resoded. This whole time no one from TruGreen said anything about treating anything. They just showed up, put down fertilizer, weed killer and said to water our lawn. All Trugreen offered was to have a manager come out and "assess" the situation. Too little too late. They are coming nowhere near my yard. It's already cost me too much.

I spent 20-30 minutes talking to a customer service person last week about the issues I have. On the call she confirmed everything. When the technician arrived his work order noted one issue. This is at least the 3rd time I have reported the same issues.
Customer Service is your weakness certainly not your strength.

I only leave truly exceptional or unacceptable reviews: we came to Tru Green in 2022, good service, until the technician diagnosed incorrectly, and parts of the grass died. On a good note, after 4 months of complaints, a manager finally fixed the issue with sod. Sine we moved into our new house, in Oct 2024, grass was in good shape until June 2025, again, the grass started to die. I waited for results for an additional 2 months, it’s worse. No one from the local branch will take calls for any concerns. I asked for a manger to stop by to look at the lawn, 2 days later a senior technician showed up, I specifically requested a manger to call me. I was blown off again. Finally, Friday after work, I called Tru Green for the 5th time (not to include 2 emails). Someone actually cared , however, a manger is supposedly calling me in 2 days, in the mean while, I received my 3rd notice from the HOA for the dead grass|. Still waiting to hear back from the Jacksonville FL local office. Terrible customer service! I’m sending photos now!

What a SCAM!

I prepaid for a full lawn treatment program in February and have been extremely disappointed with both the results and the customer service I’ve received since.

We were initially told that results might take a few months to appear, so we waited patiently. However, several months later, there was no noticeable improvement in our lawn. When we called to express our concern, TruGreen stated they would send someone out for a “respray.” Instead, they simply counted it as our next scheduled service — not an additional treatment to address the ongoing issues. This has happened more than once.

After multiple calls expressing dissatisfaction, we were finally told that a manager would come to evaluate the lawn. No manager ever arrived. Instead, TruGreen sent a new technician who was polite and even agreed that our lawn appeared untreated. He did not perform any service, as he said a manager needed to assess it first.

When we called back after this visit, we spent over 40 minutes on the phone before finally being transferred to call center manager, and received inconsistent and often dismissive responses. Representatives repeatedly assured us a local manager would contact us, yet no one ever has. Instead, we received a call from a “local representative” claiming to speak on behalf of the manager — which again resulted in no resolution or follow-up.

We were told the manager would call by noon the same day. That call never came. When I called back, the number routed directly to the national call center, not the local office as promised. The representative I spoke with contradicted prior information and dismissed our documented complaints by saying that since no “retreatments” were recorded, nothing could be done — despite multiple documented calls reporting dissatisfaction.

At this point, it feels as though TruGreen has made a consistent effort to avoid managerial contact and accountability. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and absence of visible results are extremely concerning.

Additionally, every service visit lasts only a few minutes, which raises doubts about whether the treatments being advertised are actually performed in full.

All we are asking for is transparency, accountability, and for someone with authority to properly assess and address our concerns. After months of being given the runaround, we have lost all confidence in this company and its service practices.

I would like to start by saying if I can put no stars, I would!!!

I’ve had nothing but horrible experiences with TruGreen. They are completely dishonest about the services they perform. Multiple times they claimed to have treated my backyard, yet our security cameras clearly showed that no one ever went back there! And even on the times they did, they wouldn’t treat the full square footage of the yard but still marked it as completed in our account, and of course, we were charged for it.

They use the same pre-mixed formula on everyone’s yard instead of customizing treatments, which caused major issues and damage to our grass.

The worst part was when they left our gate open after a visit!! Our dog got out, and we almost lost him!!! I had to run through the cold trying to catch him and ended up having an asthma attack from the stress and freezing air!!!!!!!! It was terrifying and completely avoidable if they had just been responsible enough to close the gate!!!!!

I’m beyond upset. TruGreen is dishonest, careless, and not worth your money!! Save yourself the frustration, money, and energy. We’re now having to replace and resod large areas of our lawn because of the damage they caused!!! They should pay to get the areas they killed replaced!!

Choose a company that actually does what they promise and respects your home, time, and safety.

I’ve been using TrueGreen/Chemlawn for years now, I trust them will all my lawn care needs. If I’ve waver had an issue they are quick to resolve it. Highly recommend.

I strongly suggest, do not trust them. The person you will talk to, will promise you the best lawn service but he is just doing his job. They gonna perform service after service every week & charge you for it, they gonna perform the expensive ones firstly so that if you cancel their services, it won’t affect you that much. They promised me a lot of things, told me that there will be gaps of 4-6 weeks between 2 services but they did rapid services & charged me for it. They did not ring my door bell, did not tell me about the service they gonna perform & later just automatically charged me, now i am asking for refund & all they are saying is ‘SORRY’, to all trugreen people, i am not growing a money tree in my backyard, my husband do a lot of effort to earn it & you literally did unfair with us.
