I've been waiting to have my 1980s chimney cap replacement/repair since Hurricane Milton which was 8mo ago here in Parrish FL. It has been quite the pain finding help. I found Swept away through a referral and Mike n Dale made it happen ASAP. Speedy service and great communication. I recommend these guys! A+ service for what I need. My cap looks awesome! 😎

The gentleman did a superb job with the chimney sweep and also replaced my dryer vent. They also identified a few issues within my fireplace that need attention. They were friendly professionals who did a great job.

They came out to sweep/clean the dryer venting of my two story home. They crawled into my attic space to locate where the dryer vented and couldn't find where it connected. The technician told me they couldn't locate the piping, that it was non existent and everything was literally venting into my attic area. They supposedly swept my dryer vent in the utility room and reconnected the dryer hose. Then the tech further told me I'd have have to hire a company to install venting and rip out my walls in my utility room to vent properly . As a result of the inspection, I hired another company to inspect. The other company crawled into attic and located the venting pipes and fixed the problem. They then checked the dryer hook up and said had I run the dryer it wiuld have caused a fire since this prior company didn't even vac out the connecting parts before reconnecting them and it was blocked with thick lint and shiwed me it. I thus had to PAY DOUBLE for what I should have as a result of this companies negligence and lazy techs. I would never recommend this company to anyone. .

The first attempt at cleaning our dryer duct was not good - only cleaned the exterior duct work. Afterward, we had a blockage and couldn’t do laundry. After being called back out, they came inside and cleaned the duct by pulling out the dryer. Now my machine works beautifully. The job should have been done correctly from the beginning. Would have given them 5 stars if that had been the case.

Positives: prompt call-back. on-time. kept me updated prior to appointment.

Negatives: Price gouging, over-selling, impolite after asking to get more quotes.

I initially called for a chimney cleaning and also to check on an occasional dripping sound. The guys came out and tested the gas connection and told me that the chimney didn't need a cleaning because it was gas. They then went on the roof and checked out the chimney and informed me that I needed a lot of work done to fix the dripping. They said my shroud was actually not sized correctly for the chimney and needed to be fully replaced.

I asked if there was any alternative to full replacement, and I was told unfortunately not, and that if I waited I would just need to put a tarp over the chimney because it wasn't safe to not fix. The guys did offer to put a tarp over it while I awaited repair, which was nice. The $249 fee to come out would be applied to the above costs. I agreed to proceed and paid a deposit of 50%.

I later was researching costs, because this seemed steep, and realized I might be getting taken advantage of. I called around and was met with surprise at the quote when talking with other companies.

I called back Swept Away and asked to put a pause on the project while I got some more quotes. I told them I understood I would probably still be charged the #249 fee to come out to clean/inspect (though no cleaning was done). I was told that it was impossible to pause the project because they had already ordered the parts (though I was told before it takes a couple weeks to make). I then brought up the 3 day cooling-off rule in Florida, and was told that they would escalate the issue to the GM.

I then got a call back saying they had researched the 3-day cooling off rule and found that it did not apply to them because I had called them, they had not solicited me. (I disagree with this interpretation; this was a "home solicitation sale" by definition in that the contract was signed at my home and not the seller's main place of business and exceeded $25). I was told that even though I was not entitled to any refund, they would still refund me all but the $249 and that they would never be servicing my address again, then hung up. I did receive a prompt partial refund as promised.

Update:
I received a second opinion from a different company. They told me that I had some rust on the shroud without any holes and that otherwise the chimney cap/shroud looked good and was sized appropriately. They said my issue was actually with my chimney siding causing the leak (they showed a very obvious location where the siding had come undone, which they repaired for me for free. I just paid the dispatch fee, but also a nice tip for saving me almost $4000 if I had not called around.

We replaced the chimney damper on our home with a new one about 3 or so years ago. With all the hurricanes and events since...it had started to come apart. Couldn't remember who installed it...but I contacted Swept away and spoke with Mike who stated he could have a tech out the next day to either replace or repair the existing damper. Jordan showed up...reviewed the situation..and proceeded to repair the damper that I had. Apparently...the bolts holding it down tight came loose. Jordan was very polite, friendly and extremely efficient. Will assuredly use Swept Away again. Thank you gentlemen!!

Worth every penny. Not only did the vent, but showed me how to check flow, and found an obstruction left by the roofers from recent work. Was on time, and kept in communication until he arrived. Been using them for about 20 years for my fireplace—this was the first time I used them for a dryer vent.

Swept Away was able to get me a next day appt, thanks to a cancellation. They were courteous and professional! I appreciate their promptness and fair prices! Highly recommend!

Arion and Jordan did a fantastic job cleaning my dryer vent. They were on time (a few minutes early) and gave me a courtesy call before arriving. They were professional and did a thorough job, making sure the air flow was good before leaving. Plus they clean up the lint additional that the vacuum could get with a damp rag. Because we were expecting guests for lunch we requested an early appointment to have our vents cleaned. Our request was honored.
